Yes making a backup is never a fault and more don`t you need ...of course downloading the zip-file ...and flashing it ...

CM10.2 will re-format system partitions and make factory reset. On your place, I would wipe cache 2x nevertheless and also install gapps for Android 4.3 right after CM10.2 while still in recovery.

S2E for CM10.1

HI... i'am new in here.
Last day, i found a problem. That is S2E app its not working in CM10.1. (JB 4.2.1)
Then, i browse around google and XDA. ( LOL )
And after that, i combine several apps & scripts that i founds.
Finally, now i can make S2E work in CM10.1
You have same problem ?
Download it here :
DOWNLOAD LINK
DOWNLOAD LINK 2
Flash it via CWM
Tested on :
- XPERIA JB Build#2 ROM based CM10.1
- Touchwiz 5 ROM (V1, V2, & V5) based CM10.1
- CM10.1-20130108-UNOFICIAL-tass
- cm-10.1-20130215-NIGHTLY-tass (Android 4.2.2)
- CM 10.1 RC5
- Almost all CM10.1 built by rohan007
NOTE :
- Don't update the S2E app.
- If when you open it, then it say not granted superuser permission, open the superuser app first.
- If superuser permission still not granted/your sd-ext not detected, turn off your phone for a while. (Reboot is useless)
- If your sd-ext still not detected again you need to reformat your sd-ext partition.
- **Also work on CM9 & CM10**
Credits :
- Ahmad Safar for script
- konstantin12 for app
- Wah-idOne for combine

What do you mean? jb-swap is to active swap partition, jb-a2sd by michie that is made for sd-ext. And, yes, it doesn't work on cm10.1 so we have this topic

s2e move your app,app data, and dalvik cache to sd-ext partition.
s2e will free up your internal memory, but not extends it. (But, App Data not recommended to move by me)
you can use it in to your CM9/10/10.1 ROM by flashed it via CWM, (Fresh ROM recommended)
I'm sorry for my bad english if you are not understand with my explanation.

if you installed gapps right after rom instal, you will not get anything new in system with any flashable zip, cause system memory is full...try just with roms gapps to instal., then reboot

NEW ANDROID 4.3 BOOTANIMATION
Disclaimer:
I will not be held responsible if you brick your ROM, nor will I held responsible if your phone is permanently dead for reasons of your own stupidity. Even though my small contributions to XDA-Developers are harmless, they may turn evil and attack your phone. Crying, pain, beatings and even death may be caused by this. I may be able to correct what you have done to your phone but successful recovery or data recovery is not guaranteed. SO PLEASE DO A NANDROID BACKUP
If you're on stock ROM then flash this ZIP first: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1705623
INTRODUCTION
The is the boot animation is from android 4.3 as seen on the Google Play edition phones and Nexus devices.
INSTRUCTIONS
1) Download the correct ZIP from the bottom on this thread.
2) Put the zip file on your phones SD card
3) Reboot into recovery and then flash ClockWorkMod if needed.
4) Select: 'Choose zip from SD' then install the zip file you downloaded into your SD card.

Nope, it will work on Cyanogenmod but stock ROM users need to flash another zip in order to enable .zip support.

Try these instructions for Jelly Bean:
Open up my zip: then goto System/Media and take the bootanimation.zip out of it, then:

Add bootanimation.zip to /system/media/ (for 4.1.2) OR /data/user/ (for 4.2.2)

You don't have to wipe your data if you are migrating from CM-based ROM to CM-based ROM.
And, it's encouraged to wipe dalvik and cache.
Good luck.
