Lock Screen and S Pen ? - AT&T Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys
Has anyone found out a way to add shortcuts to lock screen with pin-lock.
My only solution is using the s-view flip case from samsung. I want more shortcuts!
Has anyone found out a way to erase with the s pen in s note WITHOUT keep going to the eraser on the tool bar.
The button on s pen used to be the eraser on the note 2 but on note 3 it only does screen capture, annoying!
TIA

i think you can only have shortcuts if you do not use a pin/password. maybe if you are rooted there ay be a solution, i dont know though. sorry, but hoped i helped!

What about the s pen is it bc of the att rom or all note 3 s pen is like this?

Again, if you are rooted maybe there are mods that will allow that for the s-pen. I honestly have not seen anything like that at the moment though, sorry

You can add shortcuts and then apply pin lock. The short cuts will stay. If you want to change them you would have to turn off the pin security.

So I guess I could root the phone but is there a stock rom, general for all note 3 where we get all basic function w/o bloat wares...im not a fan of custom roms.

Changing home screen

How do I change home screen page in Atrix HD (4.0.4), so its not the first one, but the middle or 3rd .
I found a way to do it for other phones, but it had to be rooted... any way to do it without rooting?
Touch home. Press and hold screen you want to move. Move it where you'd like it.

I think what Ranfot is asking is how to change the default home screen from 1st position to 3rd so his phone wakes up to the 3rd position all the time. Other then loading a different launcher I couldn't find a way on stock. Maybe someone else has figured it out.

I too have not found a way to do this. Kinda silly if you ask me. It'd be so easy to do, and it seems every phone has the ability to do it EXCEPT the AHD. lol, good job Motorola.

Anyone ever figure out if this is possible? Thanks guys

Not possible, because of the quick toggles screen feature.
It's designed that way

Note 2 keyboard on One

Is it possible to put the galaxy note 2 keyboard on the One? Does it need to be rooted?
I really like the 5 row setup. I tried hackers keyboard as an alternative but didn't like it. Too many extra keys.
The note 2 keyboard was amazing.

Have you tried using Kii Keyboard? It has an option for the number row and when it shows up too (portrait only, landscape only, both). Only thing though is that it's a paid feature, although they let you try it out for an hour.
I'll give it a try. I've not used that before.

The Kii keyboard seemed to do the trick... But I'd still love to get the note 2 keyboard for free instead of spending the money. Is that part of the Samsung os?
Can it work on sense?

I don't think it would be as simple as installing an app if that's what you are thinking. Keep in mind the Note 2 keyboard has the handwriting input option and other Note 2 specific features. I, too, would love to have the keyboard. I think someone more experienced with this stuff than you and I could figure it out but if I were you, I'd just look for the best alternative.

[Q] S-Pen Works on S5?

Playing around with Apex launcher on the new S5, tap+hold on homescreen>Shortcuts>Activities>Settings - expand the settings category and you can find references to S Pen settings. A whole slew of settings appear specifically for the S-Pen. Anyone know if the S-Pen works/will work on the S5?
I don't want to assume that just because the settings are there, it's supported by the device, but would be cool if it is!
Would like to know this as well. It would save me from having to carry an ink pen at work all the time if I could use it with S-Memo.
Not sure if they make device specific s - pens but I can definitely confirm the s - pen for the note 3 DOES NOT work on the s5.

This is a post from the Samsung Tomorrow Blog about some not so well known S5 features:
1. You can write on it with a Pencil
The touch sensor on the Galaxy S5 is so sensitive that it can even recognize it when you’re tapping, swiping or writing on it with a pencil.
To use your smartphone like this, go to Settings, then Display, and then tick the ‘Increase touch sensitivity’ feature or select ‘Touch sensitivity’ among the 22 quick menu icons by pulling down the status bar with two fingers. Now you can instantly send text messages, send files, and take pictures with your fingers, a gloved hand (which we’ve already introduced through the Galaxy S4 and Note 3), your fingernail or, that’s right, even a pencil!

Hope that helps!!

Same here...tried my wife's s - pen from her note 3 and it didn't work for me as well. What's so different about note 3 and s5? They are almost identical. Maybe different TW features? IDK.

The s-pen will not work on the s5 as it does not have the hardware required. The note series has another panel below the display that allows for magnetic (I think) vs static input.

If you have some broken headphones, you can use the 3.5mm plug on your s5. And since it's not super pointy you don't have to worry about scratching the screen.

Lock screen shortcuts missing!!!

I got use to my lock screen shortcuts on S4 and now since they missing on S5 can anyone advice me something to replace them with?
I tried app called "galaxy s5 lockscreen" but it works poorly, functionality is limited and it drains battery a lot.
I used widgetlocker in the past to customize my lockscreen. It's a paid app.. and I bought it so long ago I don't remember how much lol..
If you want to go the free route, I believe there's a GoLocker also that's free

Same here. I installed this to compensate. You can put the shortcuts you came to love in the drop down notifications.

I'm going to try that S4 lock screen, though.

[Q] Note 4 lock screen effects missing

Hey guys for some reason my lock screen effects are missing or I'm unable to access them. How do I fix this? I've been trying to figure this out for some days now.
Thanks

I am guessing you are using a live wallpaper? Using a live wallpaper will disable the lock screen effects.
No I don't have a live wallpaper. I'm thinking it's a bug in the lollipop update that's preventing me from having the option to choose which effect I would like.
