Is it possible to put the galaxy note 2 keyboard on the One? Does it need to be rooted?
I really like the 5 row setup. I tried hackers keyboard as an alternative but didn't like it. Too many extra keys.
The note 2 keyboard was amazing.

Have you tried using Kii Keyboard? It has an option for the number row and when it shows up too (portrait only, landscape only, both). Only thing though is that it's a paid feature, although they let you try it out for an hour.
I'll give it a try. I've not used that before.

The Kii keyboard seemed to do the trick... But I'd still love to get the note 2 keyboard for free instead of spending the money. Is that part of the Samsung os?
Can it work on sense?

I don't think it would be as simple as installing an app if that's what you are thinking. Keep in mind the Note 2 keyboard has the handwriting input option and other Note 2 specific features. I, too, would love to have the keyboard. I think someone more experienced with this stuff than you and I could figure it out but if I were you, I'd just look for the best alternative.

Ugh. Why is this only a US thing! Sounds awesome for you guys though
Thanks a lot. It works for Canadians too.
Yeah it's great. I'll be checking amazon application store every day to see what app they offer for free.
So far I'm really liking swift key. I like the text prediction and the ability to soften haptic feedback. That may be a feature of the stock keyboard but I never looked.

It is better than Swype. I just hope these keyboard offer Asian ime..

Opinions on keyboards for the nexus 7?
You'll get so many different answers, try the free versions.
Swiftkey 3 for me though since you ask.
It told me earlier it'd saved me 10,000 keystrokes on my mobile and over 5,000 on nexus already.
Try thumb keyboard. Its great in landscape mode, and you can customize the keyboard as well!

I also suggest SwiftKey 3. One of the advantages for me is that it offers word suggestions and auto-correct in up to 3 languages at the same time. It also has the option for arrow keys at the bottom in the phone version.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
I'll cosign Swiftkey. In landscape mode it's almost perfect, and works well enough that I feel natural using it. I still finding it surprising that I lke it so much considering my phone has a physical keyboard and I formerly used Swype as the alternative.
Swift for tablet or phone for the nexas 7?

i use the phone version since Swiftkey refuses to provide an option for displaying arrow keys (on the main keyboard) on the tablet version
Thumb keyboard is one of my favorites for both phones and tablets

I use Hackers Keyboard and love it, and its free
I use perfect keyboard. I love its split keyboard for for when I'm typing in landscape.
I second hackers keyboard for if you want something with the same layout as a real keyboard.

I've used Ultra Keyboard for over a year on my Nook Color and now on the Nexus. It has arrow keys, which I find invaluable.

Not that it helps with your credit, but I recommend Swype. I'm a little biased since I used to work for them, but I think it is the best keyboard input for touch bar none. You can get on the beta by visiting beta.Swype.com... this message was composed using Swype.

Swype beta is free and oh so buttery
Torn between swype and swift key on the nexus 7 myself. I use swype on my galaxy tab 10.1 and love it there but it can't touch the predictive accuracy of swift key. On my HTC One X I use swift key which I'd like to use on my nexus 7 but its buggy in Chrome for some reason. For now I'm sticking to the stock keyboard until I find something else or swift key update resolves the bugs.

I've been using SwiftKey tablet and like it.

Smartkeyboard for both phone and tablet. Great stuff!
I'm a devoted Swype user. Sometimes it acts strangely on webpages though. If that happens I switch to stock until in off that page

I use Thumb Keyboard, I got it when it was the amazon free app of the day, and I really enjoy it. Although it seems to have some issues with Chrome that I'm having trouble figuring out.
Look at these official photos from cnet..... Pay particular attention to photos 2 and 15.... Although there are 5-icons in the dock at the bottom, the rest of the screen only has 4 app icons across each row.... Makes me glad I didn't wait to get the Note 2: http://m.cnet.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-note-ii-debuts-photos/10013559

That's launcher dependent only. Download another launcher and you'll be able to have 5 rows of icons again. But yeah, it's stupid they went back to the default 4 rows on the Note 2. Guess that's the price to pay for a True HD display...

Yah but the extra RAM and better processor will make you want to get the note. And if the note 2 is as sexy as the S3...youre definitely gonna wish you waited for the Note 2.
And btw, you can always root and install a tweaked version of the launcher.

... Your complaing about rows of icons? Thats like complaining about a new car saying you dont like the song the radio is playing... Change it... your on xda man. Most people here tend to switch roms and kernals, changing a launcher or even less (a launcher setting) is a non issue

Lord.... I wasn't complaining about the Note 2..... I was merely pointing out the screen is probably too narrow to natively support 5-icon rows..... I totally understand we are of course, free to install various ROMs on our devices... Heck, I had an old HD2 that I tried out more ROMs on than I can remember.... But as my daily driver phone..... I really prefer not to void it's factory warranty

Settings ; Launcher Settings ; Screen preferences (different title depending on which launcher) ; Number of rows.
No warranty voiding required at least 5 free top launchers have this option in the play store. I cant wait for this phone in the us
From my X2 roaming the north
Although I have tried out several 3rd party launchers in the past, I've always found they slow down things a bit (unless you can natively disable the original launcher without rooting the device)... Otherwise you're running a launcher on top of another launcher
Sent from my GT-P3113 using xda premium
I guess i just root and take care of all those issues, but then again with 2gb of ram im betting you could handle 2 launchers if you for some reason dont just replace the old one.

Just in case anyone's interested, I've got a Note 2 and I've just installed Nova Launcher.
its perfectly fine with five columns of icons.
dunno what possessed Samsung releasing their launcher with only four
If this has been posted before my apologies. After getting my nexus I combed threw the settings and discovered that the keyboard has native emoji support. Now not only can you see emoji but you can send them now. To enable them go into your android keyboard settings then goto add on dictionaries. Enable emoji for English. Next go down to the advanced keyboard settings and enable switch to other input methods. Lastly go back to keyboard inputs and check the input iWnn IME. Once all these steps are down you will have a small globe icon on your native keyboard. Press this to switch to your new emojis! ?

When you say keyboard inputs do you mean input languages? I can't seem to find the last step.
Nevermind, I found it, you have to go into settings->language&input I was doing everything before that from the keyboard.

I'm also an my iPad and I can see them just fine, I'm sure Android doesn't support the iOS 6 emojis though. ??????????????????????? how does those look on 4.2? I won't have my Nexus 4 until Monday/Tuesday so I won't be able to test these

I wish I could tell you, I'm also currently playing the waiting game with google .
I too would like to know if iOS 6 emojis work on 4.2 , if someone can tell us that would be great.
They show up just fine on my GNex.. so I would imagine do on the N4 as well.

Any help?

It's been reported that a factory reset gets rid of the Emojii iWnn IME app. I think it's available on the Play Store anyways? I'm not sure. If anybody can pull it from their phones and post it here - that'll be great.
Thanks! ?????

I use swype on my phone. However I've not bothered with it on the N7. The standard keyboard does swype style movements and seems to be better for standard typing when I fancy it.

Swype 1.3 is the best and could never be replaced. The only thing that sucks is it uses its own voice recognition so you can't use Google voice offline recognition.
