USB OTG - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

If i connect my USB stick via a USB OTG cable it perfectly recognises my usb stick. If i boot to recovery (TWRP 2.6.3.2) the usb stick is not being recognized. What is the problem?

I can not mount it in recovery because i cant selcet usb otg in the mount menu.
I although tried to partition the usb stick to a ext4, fat and fat32 partition, but nothing is being recognized by the recovery. Another usb stick does not work, too...

sometimes i have to check usb-otg a couple of times before it mounts you also might want to downgrade twrp to 2.6.3.0 and see if that works i had trouble with newer versions of twrp

files transfer in download mode and recovery mode?

I tried a new kernel, but forgot to put the flash file on the internal card first. Now my phone wont boot as there is no OS on my phone. I can't mount the USB as it keep saying something about can only mount usb in idle mode. And I cant seem to mount USB in recovery mode either. MTP keep failing in windows.
Only way is somehow to transfer that damn zip file by Odin or some other ways
Any help?

Have you tried to plug the cable to a different USB port? Sometimes it resolves the issue as it needs to install new drivers on that port.
No Mount USB

Yea, So working on something very close.
I formated my phone, and then wiped all the data on it after. My problem is I wiped the ROM that I was using at the time (otherwise I would boot back up and replace my deleted ROM using Android file transfer). I've also deleted the new ROM (and everything else) on the internal SD card that I was going to switch to. How can I force a ROM back onto my SD card? I can't boot back into the phone save for Recovery, and dowload screens so I can't enable the phone to "act as a usb device"
I have CWR 6.0.1, and can only boot into that program, and the Samsung Download screen.
I tried to go to mounts but only see system, cache and data. I can mount and unmount those (but they don't change anything. I also have a /sdcard option to mount, but i can't do anything with it, it doesn't switch back and forth between mount and unmount like the others do. I don't see a Mount USB option like you were talking about above.
I am using a VZW GNex (toro)
Macbook running snow lepord.
Go to samfirmware and dowload the 2.3.6 rom for the i9000 anf flash it with odin next install cwm recovery and its done

Is the operating system working normally? If yes, you can use option "connect as media storage" as it isn't enabled by default
tetakpatalked from 1+One
when i go into recovery mode and select mounts and storage menu then i select mount /sd-ex it show error mounting sd-ext ..................... i just want to move my files that are located in internal storage to my pc..... is there any way to do that
Hi azar
Did you tried to transfer using ADB . in your case if you have a custom recovery installed its possible
google this "transfer file using adb from recovery mode"
Hope this helps..
found the solution with recovery mode :
in windows hardware manager : delete adb I9100
in recovery mode press "unmount" : this will reload the phone driver and give full access to internal memory and sdcard on windows explorer
in your windows manager you should now see a warning device called GT-I9100
this worked after I reinstalled drivers (not from kies)
This problems happens because windows detects a new device and downloads this "adb driver" ONLY in recovery mode. So this is not the samsung driver.

which recovery lets you mount usb storage? if any?

ok, I understand about the mtp / usb mass storage issue but i have read people saying they mounted usb while in recovery.
i have tried cwm and teamwin but it says unable to mount storage..
is there anyway to do this where i can get pc or mac to recognise the phone as a drive so i can try and recovery my data? have lost everything, i know my own fault but need to find a solution
thanks

yes it works in TWRP, you just need to mount it, if it didnt mount automatically.

i don't have it with me, but i'll check later (in a few hours), but if i remember correctly it does work; is the usb formatted as FAT32, seems sometimes exFat has problems.

I just tried both 2.6.3.4 and 2.6.3.3 and both work fine:
Rebooted into TWRP, connected OTG cabe + 64GB USB (FAT32 formatted, though I remember exFAT also working for me), in recovery:
Mount -> select USB-OTG
Advanced -> File Manager -> /usb-otg
==> all files were there.

@ZeRo2o9
you can also plug in the usb-otg and reboot to recovery
choose backup or install and where it says Storage click it one time and then choose USB OTG and hit back and it will be mounted when you choose install or backup again.
Thanks for all the replies. Turns out I didn't know I had the usb formatted to ntfs when I used it before lol formatted it to fat32 and it worked. thanks!

phone detected as removable drive when in recovery

Hello!
I've have succesfully connected my phone via fastboot,nlocked and installed new recovery.
But when im in recovery, my pc detects the phone as removable drive, so ADB doesnt work.
I've tried mounting/unmounting in the TWRP recovery, no luck. Even when its not mounted, my pc detects 2 drives which im not able to use, before i mount them in the recovery.
How can i fix this? Or isnt adb suposed to work in recovery mode?

Stuck in TWRP with no working USB port

I flashed miui and I'm booting into fast boot, I tried to wipe but system did not mount... I did lots of things and deleted my internal storage by mistake... now I only have a system that won't boot and I can't connect adb because my usb port is only charging.
