Hello XDA fellows,
I am using this I9000 for more than 3 years and in july i flashed in my device a SlimRom 4.2 build 2 and it worked amazingly but later when i got an update to SlimRom4.3 Build 1 then it made my device dead i mean in such sense that it got the unknown baseband error.
Later on i installed in iit custom rom and flashed in cm10.2 and it worked very well. wHEN i found an update f slimrom 4.3 build 2 i flashed it in and it worked amazingly also but later yesterday during a call it made that same unkown basband error and then i flasheed in custom rom and then cm10.2 but now my device keeps swiitching off and when i connect the charger or usb it works well but as soon as i remove them my device switches off.. ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED!!!

sounds like a battery issue, try cleaning contacts, but better to test with another battery

Hi guys,
I own a Galaxy S i9000 mobile.
It's running on :
Android 2.3.3
Baseband : DXJV9
I have not rooted it or did anything till now.
I wanna flash ICS AOKP on my mobile..
I have tried using the search option but still im soo deserted.
Can you guys guide me on how to root, flash CWM recovery, and flash ICS please ?
and Does Galaxy S supports ROM Manager ? coz i've been using Galaxy Ace before and it didn't support it..
Thanks a lot
For Root read this.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788108
You need to download file ending in JVP. Usually you want the one ending with last 3 digits of your baseband but as there is no JV9 JVP is close enough and is reported as working. Besides it does not really matter as you just need this for root.
Once you have root you can simply follow the guide in the AOKP thread...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1524108
I know you have stated you want AOKP but if you want a bullet proof simple way to get this all done start with this thread for Team ICSSGS.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1494493
I usually like to make sure I have all necessary files, roms & programmes before starting so if anything goes wrong I can get my phone working again. This tutorial will help you with that also.
After following all of this you should have a good understanding of what to do and then you can flash AOKP as their instructions are kind of limited.
Also when choosing an ICS Rom this is a great thread with regards to performance.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1554621
AOKP is a wonderful choice.
But if I can give you an advice, wait for the next Milestone which is expected to be released over the next few days

Thank you soo much for your help bro
That link for flashing Team ICSSGS has help for everything else. From downloading stock rom to flashing with Odin to flashing ics (in this case team icssgs)
You could potential substitute Team ICSSGS for AOKP.
I got another question..
does Semaphore ICS kernel works on my baseband (i.e - DXJV9) ?
Will do. My favourite.

Great
and finally, Which version of the kernel should i use for official AOKP b34? 1.1.0 or 1.1.0s?
Not sure but both should work. 1.0.1s is for slim ics and other roms. If it is not compatible it will break 720 video recording & playback otherwise eveything else should work. There is also a video patch somewhere.

Alright..I've flashed AOKP b34 and Semaphore 1.1.0s
Everything seems to be fine
But now my sdcard is mounted as internal storage and the actual internal storage is mounted as sdcard..is this a bug or what ?
Even when I connect my phone to my PC using USB,only the actual internal storage (which is mounted as SDcard shows up..
I personally haven't 1.1.0 only 1.0.1sbm with slim ics. I think the 1.1.0 is still a test version for cm9 but could be wrong. Things may have updated since i last looked but i recommend reading the semaphore thread and posting there for more help.

Known bug in Semaphore. Make sure you enable the 'Netfilter' module in the app. When it randomly doesn't work, which is the bug, simply check and uncheck it 2 times and it will work.

Now, The only problem I'am experiencing is a little more battery drain when compared to GB.
I am gonna experiment with modems..
Hey guys
I recently noticed that my i9000 is loosing battery charge significantly (screenie attached)
I have already done the battery calibration & also changed the wifi settings.
Over and above I spun the battery on a table, it spun for about 3 whirls and stopped
So far my battery takes 6 hours to charge fully, and 3 hours to drain completely in idle state
Specs
OS: ICS 4.0.3 AOSP
Modem:XXJVU
Need help
Thanks

ok heres the thing
i cant upgrade to JB 4.3 since the vold.fstab doesnt work (my phone went through Encryption Error phase)
so far tested with the following ROMs
AOSP 4.0.3
Slim ICS + Semaphore Kernel 1.3.0s (currently Installed)
the reason why i found it odd is the phone is draining battery even when switched off completely
Charge time: 6 Hours (100%/ 4121v)
Phone screen off: drains in 3 hours
Phone Completely switched off: still drains in 3 hours
Have you tried CM10 or 10.1?
But hwne it drains when the device is completely switched off, for me it seems that the system doesn`t stop really ...
why should the device consume so much battery when switched off ...
Could you test with CM ???

I think its a ROM issue too cause the battery problem came only after i had a failed attempt at installing JB 4.3 on my device
post which i formatted everytihng from SDcard to system, boot and used Odin to reflash GB then ICS AOSP and Slim ICS through CWM

Place the file on your internal SD-CARD.
Restart to ClockWorkMod Recovery.
Install the zip like any other package.

yup, this too > http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1166954 seems dead, google search gives me lots of download links ( still active), but NO idea which one to use and NO support available as only downloads .
AS time goes by, this would become the norm, as developers move on to other devices and users could not be bothered to click their thanks button, or donate to show their appreciation.

Does anyone successfully use Skype on this phone?
If so could you please list
1. Android version and ROM
2. Kernel
3. Skype version
I get crashes when the other user answers the phone on
1. Mackay Rom Kitkat
2. Mackay Kernel
3. Skype 4.5.0
Tried an older version (3.2) and the calls connected but the quality was horrible to the extent where nothing could be understood properly (not network issues as Viber worked perfectly, as did Skype on my nexus 5)

Could be due to lack of memory, try testing on today's release of new Mackay ROM and kernel with more memory. If it fails you should attach log-cat and post in Makay ROM, thread as bug report . you can try other apps like hangout to check too .

Hi, I'm also using CyanAOSP 4.4. Ver. 2.8 with the latest gear kernel 1.1.2s. I occasionally get the fc but most of the time the call connects and I don't get any more problems. So you could also try this combo and tell me how it went.

Hey guys,
Just recovered my M110S using RIFF...
All day reading this forum regarding 4.1.2 ringtone problem. Finally tried myself it really doesn't work, which is no good for me.
Question is - could you please recommend me last successful ROM(Gingerbread?), where things like WiFi/ringtone works and it has minimal lagging issues on M110S. Perhaps show me where I can read/download necessary files?
As the information really huge and scattered it's hard to find answer to my question...

Yep, while waiting I used
GFAN_M110S_FTE9K_WF07_ODEX_SP8_FOR_XDA.tar as ROM and tegrak-kernel-build-39-for-m110s-wf07.tar as kernel. Got 2.3.6, enabled lagfix(ext4). Looks to me it works fine and neat so far.
One more question I would like to ask...if I want to try other WF07 ROM's such as BBanana, Volt etc., should I again use the same kernel first, then one of those ROM's? As I understand above mentioned tegrak kernel 39 is compatible with all WF07 ROMs, is that correct?
Also downloaded from somewhere
M110S_FTE9K_WF07_SpeedMode_NOOC_ExtSD_Kernel.tar
but not sure if I need to apply this over what I've already flashed.
Thanks and cheers,

All ROM's has kernel included, so IF you want to have additional features , than you flash the tegrak kernel to after the ROM is flashed.
the Ext SD CWM kernel is used for recovering from internal SD card problems , so do not use it until you need to use it.

This battery issue arrived when I bought this Samsung Galaxy S i9000 and rooted it. I will explain to you what happened: I bought the phone in 2013 (when Samsung stopped selling it) from eBay.com. It came to me in two days and then the same day i rooted it. Installed Cyanogenmod 10 stable. But my battery was at 58% when xposed told me to reboot my phone. After rebooting shockingly the battery was 6%. I was surprised with this kind of behaviour and thought that it was a problem with the ROM, so tried Supernexus 2.0 but the same issue and since then it has been happening with all the ROMs. It never happens with Stock ROM but always with the Custom ROM and not only this but with all Kitkat,JB,ICS and GB(only custom ROMs) I have the same problem. I dont know whether this is an hardware issue or software. please help me. Ask me anything related but please help me...

Save your important files to your PC, use CWM to format everything, including bootloader and SD card and (do not reboot) but enter download mode and flash a froyo stock ROM and start updating it to custom ROM of your choice. Ensure your battery was fully charged before you attempt this.
