I have been a big supporter and early adopter for a lot of their consumer electronics , phone and computers. The way they handled this last firmware for the US is unacceptable. I can understand a few day lag in rolling this update out but to take away the limited functionality that this watch had to begin with and have no solution for us is crazy. Expecting us to jump through technical hoops and hacks is unrealistic.
Have they even acknowledged this as an issue? I only heard of a couple countries to have the new firmware is only the US impscted?

yea im in the same boat, after waiting for about a week with NO EXCHANGE EMAIL!!!! notifications. I said screw it and flashed the UK MK7 and loaded Null11.1 At least now it can do SOMETHING, still cant get exchange email via default stock mail client...well i get the notification then have to check the phone......LAME!
I bet they fix it b4 the price drop on black friday....at least they better. in the meantime you can root your phone and edit the build.prop and change it from US to SPain to restore fucntionality.

I tried the check for update option on my phone yesterday without joy but then connected via Kies at it was there.
It might be because I got my handset before official uk launch and was therefore imported from Europe?

as for OP, just checkecd kies again, nothing

I can tell you when this update will arrive. I'm going to be out of the country next week, I bet the update lands just after I walk through airport security and can't update until I get back. Either that or when I fly out again in July. I just have a jinx for things like this.

Ironic that there are developing and commercially marginal nations (Nepal???) that are getting Samsung love before the UK, France, Sweden, Ireland etc...
Makes me feel so valuable as a customer.
I know the feeling, another thing that is annoying is they are already talking about jelly bean and a galaxy note 2 which has a possible release date for autumn, sort of takes the Mickey a bit ay

The way global rollouts work is that they often release the software to nations with very few of the devices and see if there is a significant spike in errors/bugs/repairs and then roll it out to nations with larger numbers of device users
them avoiding the uk is a blessing because: do you want to do a firmware update to a firmware that can brick your phone?
just wait until the bugs have been ironed out and then we will get it
id much rather wait an extra month and have a decent rom than flash a half-baked rom and then go through all the hassle of getting my device repaired!
and anyway, if your so desperate to go ics - grow a pair and flash it yourself
I have a German Note (imported from amazon.de) and got the ICS update through Kies as soon as it was released.
First impression - I really didn't know what all the fuss was about.
Second impression - What is it with all these wakelocks and battery drains?
Third impression - Maybe it's a little smoother when running properly, but not chalk and cheese in performance.
I'm sticking with ICS, because it's working for me and I can't be bothered to fiddle-ass about, but I wouldn't lose sleep over any delays, especially if it means getting a better product and less fracking about trying to get the damn thing to run smoothly.
Fair points there, just makes ya wonder why they are already talking about the next update and next phone when they haven't perfected this one yet, PS I would flash roms but I had a galaxy s 1 and it's so hit and miss finding a ROM that a suits the operator

Not as quick as a Nexus. No phones or tablets get updates as quick as the Nexus line.
If that was the main selling point for you, I suggest you return it and wait for the Nexus 5.

Many people believe, since Google owns Motorola, that Motorola phone will get updates faster... Google has already stated that this is not true, they get no preferential treatment in regards to updates.
That being said, due to the limited bastardization of android on the moto x, it is fair to believe that this device has the potential to get updates quicker, whether that will play out as such, will be better known in the future.
But, the quick answer to your question is"no" this will not get updates as fast as a nexus device... Its not a nexus device. But it is understandable to believe that we will get updates more quickly than most other manufacturers devices on the market.

I will be happy if we hey an update in a reasonable amount of time... I guess that's a matter of opinion on what's a reasonable amount of time... I just traded in my HTC One XL for this phone so as long as I would get the updates faster than I did on that phone I will be happy... Also I was hoping to get support for this device for a longer period of time and keep receiving the updates... I just figured since it does not have a heavy ui like sense or touch wiz I would get updates quicker and supported longer... But I'm happy with the phone so I think I'm just going to keep it...

I have flashed the UK and it works great. Why wait? It is an official release, just for the UK. I think US get last on a lot because of all he laws/regulations and the number of users. Release it to the lower number to filter out the bugs. If all is well release to the rest.
Then don´t buy Samsung. Over here in Mexico we dont get any more support than in USA and Canada and we are not whining about it.

One issue with the UK is that you still have to put on the hacked email app to be able to get Microsoft exchange notifications. I am hoping that they fix the manager and gear update to take care of this problem. Also I have notifications working now but they get stacked on top of each other in Exchange, when several come in close together.
That's my issue too. I don't want to use a broken exchange solution just to get the mail that should be working . I am NOT a big complainer but this too has really pushed my button expect more from Samsung on this particular for us early adopters

This is not a "problem/bug" its a security layer implemented by Samsung..
Exchange mail requires a pass lock to be active on Samsung's official app. You may use exchange mail as a every day feature, although people use it mainly for business purposes.
Reason why they force you to view it on your device, your device should be secured with keyguard so your identity can be verified before displaying the email.

Is just the principal..
You never leave US out...
We the largest consumers in Electronics..
What pisses me of is some of these countries with the update probably have 10 people that own the device.
Lol there's a hostile mob in this thread.
There's nothing wrong with pointing out that the US was left behind with these updates. Yes, I could break out Odin and manually update the Gear myself (and I did exactly that). However, it's ridiculous that the update is taking this long for US customers. I mean, is there a reason why this should be the case? It's going to be the exact same update that everyone else received.
I just don't get it. And frankly I don't understand why you guys are being so passive about it. If the firmware had not been made available by samsungupdates, then everyone would still be **** out of luck.
Running UK version myself but what the heck. Every time someone posts a thread about the US update all the stupid people come out and tell us to install the UK version. My gear IS NOT working flawlessly unless I happen to have a phone from the UK too. As many have pointed out, exchange does NOT work and its not that way because of security trying to protect us. Or is it just people in the US that needs this so called security feature.
Exchange in Europe works with UK ROM, exchange in US plus UK ROM/firmware =FAIL.
If you don't need exchange...good for you, but don't say UK firmware works flawlessly for US customers. It just works flawlessly for the features you happen to use.

Well sitting around today I figured I would e-mail samsung about the locked bootloader and how that would eventually kill off sales for those in the know on Modding, development and wanting ultimate control of there device. So I would suggest anyone who cares to should do the same. I think if we show them the love we have for Samsung devices as a community maybe they will rethink their strategy and start giving their fans what they want, and that is options, unlimited options to flash and mod the way we want. I mean heck isn't that what google released android for was to be open sourced. So please take time to send samsung an e-mail and voice your support to stop locking bootloaders and unlock our locked ones, cause we all know it's easier for them to do it and just pass it on to us than for a dev to do it and get nothing but thanks when I reality samsung should send him a check, but we know that won't happen.
UPDATE: Link to online petition below please sign and tell your friends. Also petition is linked to c.e.o. Randall Stephenson @ [email protected] so he will know of every signature we gain. So come on and let's try to get our device the freedom it and we deserve.

Samsung does not insist on locking the bootloaders. The carriers do. That's why both AT&T and Verizon bootloaders are lock, while Sprint and Tmobile and not. AT&T and Verizon's locked bootloaders have not dropped Samsung sales below that rival company, who leaves their bootloaders to be unlocked by the customer on that special webstite, whose sales of their top selling phone are fading based on what I am reading.
Did not know that. you would think samsung would be like "hey att don't do that people want access not restrictions" but like you said if the device is a top seller I guess on their end there is no reason to conform to what smaller groups of people like us think the state of the phone upon release should be. Well I'll send att an e-mail to might not do any good but I would like to try. Again if you support this send them(samsung, att, verizon, etc.) an e-mail and voice your response. Tell them we want freedom not a locked down p.o.s.

The bottom line is 5% or less modify their phones.1% will actually complain about it and I would bet less than 20% of that 1 percent would actually write a letter. Att doesn't care about the opinions of .20% of its customer base. The only way to get this to work is to unite across all devices with locked bootloader's on at&t.

So fight back. Sim unlock, switch carriers and stick it to the man. That's the only way I can think of getting our point across, falling short of waiting out your contract or paying ETF's(if u have good credit, I dont.lol). If I have to starting tomorrow I will reach out to other att customers with other models with Locked bootloaders. I do stick it to the man, the man keeps giving me free stuff. The last phone I bought was the LG g2. After a few weeks I had a bad pixel so they gave me a brand new note 3. A month after that I talked them into a free galaxy gear. When the boredom kicked in I got "the man" to take the note 3 back and send me a good flex. I sold the watch. In June I once again told them I wasn't happy with the flex so they told me to pick any phone I wanted, I chose this phone. Now it is aggravating and I probably wasted hours of my time harassing them but it pays off.

This is all on the AT&T end of things. If they could come to an agreement to have something similar to what HTC has where you go to their website and agree to void your warranty then the site unlocks it that would be great. We need to put pressure on AT&T for something like that as it would not cause them to lose money or their government contracts. But like someone stated earlier our demographic is so small that they don't care. Normal people just care that their phones work and can take good pictures. I can tell you that back when the Motorola atrix came out there was a petition to also unlock the bootloader it got tons of signatures and even the attention of Motorola and AT&T enough so that they issued a statement that they would provide a solution to the locked bootloader and guess what, the solution never came but we did get their attention so it is possible.

Yea I'm kinda feeling the blues I come from a galaxy S4G from t-mobile they jacked up my bill so I jacked there phone. I quit paying for it ( the contract that is, bad credit here. can't wait for that financial system to crash) and did a network unlock and threw it on sprint prepaid. After that I learned what little I know about root, roms, and flashing. I've made a few themes for the S4G with u.o.t. but that's neither here nor there.
Now I move on and wouldn't you know the second smart phone I have ever had is locked down like a terrorist in Gitmo (I mean sheesh even they get light 1 hour a day).

Sad but true. The Note 2 I recently sold was still stuck on Jelly Bean and Note 2 owners were promised KitKat from T-Mobile, never received the update. And now there is no news of Lollipop for the T-Mobile Note 2.
I had the AT&T Note 4, but returned it, mainly due to the fact that it was not developer-support. Because I'm on the JUMP! Program, I'll most likely end up changing my device every 6-8 months or so, therefore the update schedule doesn't and shouldn't hurt me anymore.

Good morning guys. I just made the jump from AT&T and I was wondering does tmobile update their phones for the life of the device or like AT&T does that they update phones 3 times then concentrate on newer devices? Please let me know. Thanks in advance

Thanks for the reply man. It's messed up the American companies do this. The international versions of the phone that we stopped receiving updates for here in the u.s are still receiving updates internationally. Even though I switched from AT&T cause I'm tired of locked bootloaders. I think if you own a device you should have the freedom to do with it as you please. ?

Take that statement to the Supreme Court. FCC needs to look over this, in addition to Net Neutrality, haha.

who says you cant "do with it as you please"
you just wont get carrier provided updates after awhile, but you are free to do anything you want to your phone, you just have to deal with the consequences if you break/ruin/brick it..
