You've got several crap answers here. Downgrade to stock ROM, root it (flash root kernel with CWM recovery) and upgrade then to whatever you wish. Custom ROMs are using often different partition sizes for the /system so sometimes is indirect installing way better.
For going back to stock use the guide on the top of this post. Do the proceeding with the PIT file. Alternatively you can flash any 2.3.x ROM with baseband for your region and Semaphore kernel for that ROM. I prefer Froyo with SpeedMod as it is perfect to upgrade from.

Hello,
This is what I'm currently running on the attachment and I have a rooted phone with SuperSU and CWRM (Philz). I was wondering if I am able to flash this rom safely:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1915302
FYI: I'm a newbie so please forgive me.
If anything else is needed for me to flash this ROM please let me know.
Thanks ~~~
What kernel are you on? Did you install philz kernel? If not then first flash a safe kernel like philz or speed mod or hydracore. Then you are good to go.

No, because kernel itself is pure stock with brick bug removed only. (So it's safe) If you go into recovery and see Philz CWM then you are definitely on his SAFE kernel and SAFE recovery.

Well it's your device and it's about 550$ now.. If its too nasty and problematic to take 15 seconds and reflash the philz or ANY OTHER safe kernel just to not risk AT ALL the device.. Go do it.. Good luck..

OP: the reason you are getting so many answers is because no one including you is sure if you have Philz kernel or are you on stock..
to make sure you have philz kernel.. boot into recovery (vol up+power+home).. if you see Philz CWM without having to install anything ..then you have the kernel.. if not flash a safe kernel

The reason here (and in many other threads) in getting so many answers is: some members only repeat what has been said before. It feels like these people want to raise their post counters by force - I assume they need a minimum of posts and thanks for a "recognized" in their profile.

is your phone rooted??in the stock 4.1.2 german stock?
I think you should restart with PC Odin and the official stock JB.
This would result in a exactly described state of your device. Or give exact error messages for a specific step you did.

Hello Everybody,
I am new here to 'Galaxy Note N7000 ' forum. I recently bought this phablet and I want to root it without bricking.
I have posted a screenshot here which shows details of my note.
After searching I have downloded this file.
"PhilZ-cwm6-DDLSC-ODD-4.90.8-signed.zip"
Is it ok if I flash this file using 'stock recovery 3e' ???
My note will be rooted after flashing this zip file??
Please Help...
Thanks in advance...

Yes.. Look for a newer version of DDLSC kernel. If you can't find, the one you have will also do the job.

I have never faced any bootloops flashing Philz kernel.. ever. just make sure you flash a DDLSC kernel only. What i meant was check if a newer version of DDLSC is available or not as what you mentioned is old.
Once the kernel is installed, the phone will be rooted with CWM recovery.

Ah, of course, stupid me indeed. Well, can't be noobing around one day :silly: Still have to find compatible version for cm10.2.
Offtopic: Xda's registration video was priceless, I signed up today and watched the video.. lol.
first of all this zimage hasn't been test!!!
i made this kernel with little knowledge following couple of tutorials and thanks to OhHeyItsLou !!
remember if you gonna try this kernel remember it has not been tested and til i figure it out it probably wont be tested for knob ppl.
If you are going to try it and or you are a DEV "which i think you might know how to work this out" "flashing" please be free to do.
once again i wont leave instructions on how to flash it because i havent figure out yet how to do it!!
THATS WHY I RATHER SEE A DEV USING THIS OR HELP ME WITH FLASHING THIS ON MY OWN DEVICE
Be free to contact me on any questions
flash it at you own risk ! Which we all know while flashing anything can go wrong!
unzip file and you would get the zImage.
V1 ! toolchain 4.6 from google
nothing special just a kk kernel hoping to help with cm11 ~!

It won't flash in custom recovery because it's missing the "meta-inf" folder with the update-binary, etc. I'll try and write one tonight when I get home from work. Which will be around midnight central time.
I've got a meta-inf folder made and I've 're zipped it. Is this based on aosp or stock. Do I need to flash with my stock Rom or try with cm11
This die? Far as i can tell we need a kernel dev?
I downloaded zlmage_bumped.zip listed in first post and flashed it using flashify apk downloaded from Google play. Seems to have successfully flashed! My device is T-Mobile D959 running kit Kat 4.4.2 D95920h.
Did it really work?
