What is the most used ROM+Kernel? - Galaxy S III I9305 (4G LTE + 2GB RAM) Q&A, Help &

Hello XDA ,i've been a flasher for a long time and i just don't know wich combo is the best. I would like some opinions so i know what should i flash. Also i would like to keep my apps and how? (After i flashed kernel+rom) . I must mention that i am an everyday hard phone user, using internet all day long (unlimited data plan) and i enjoy surfing over web and also play games. What is the most stable/smooth/battery friendly/simple/easy to use combo for i9305?
Many many thanks,
hatedman95.

Mod Edit
"Best" ROM/kernel threads are not allowed on XDA.
Please test these things for yourself.
This is the only way you will get an unbiased opinion, and then, you can decide for yourself if it meets YOUR needs.

[Q] Fastest, simplest & most reliable android rom for Tytn 2

I'm looking for the fastest, simplest & most reliable android rom for Tytn 2.
Does anybody have any idea?
Thanks.
I have an idea, go look throught the android rom threads and figure it out on your own.
You are required to read the sticky before posting, in that it says, thou shall not ask questions like this.

Forum rules link doesn't work in the sticky., also been through 10 pages of thread index to find an answer. If you don't have anything helpful to add, better just keep your rude comments to yourself.
Well the link worked at one point and I will post my comments where ever I want.
The forum rules are on every page of forum pretty much "depeneding on what theme use"
We do not allow the question regards best due to a several reasons: Only you will find the best ROM as all points of view, can cause falming, keeping the forum clean etc.

Re-Arrange Note Development Section (Request to Mods)

Dear Admin and Mods ,
Thank You for you great time and effort in keeping XDA at the top.
However , I and may be many users feel that the Development Section of the Galaxy Note forum is too cluttered . It takes a lot of time to find the appropriate thread of any specific Kernel , ROM etc... I know we can Bookmark the required section , but that is very impractical if there are many sections that we follow.
The re-arrangement should be on basis of separation of threads into Categories like Kernels , ROM's , Mods , and likewise.
I sincerely hope that you will consider my suggestion.
I hope other guys who feel the same , should make a request here.
I really support this plea!
+1 especially different section for ICS and GB
+1 very good idea
What most device sub sections have when there is alot of development is a index thread with a member who will basiclly keep a index of everything so you can easily find the threads, I was thinking about doing this myself but not sure if I have the time to keep that and the torrent list maintained
+1 !
It would actually make everything less hectic and those in panic will have some less headache !
To start thread in dev section should have some strict rule.
And just like 'spam', reporting option shud have 'move' option, so it will be easy for mod also. N helps in keeping dev sec clean.

I support this wholeheartedly. I'd suggest a minimum of 100 posts in the Note forum - not someplace else - before being able to start a thread in Dev. I emphasized 'not someplace else' because we've seen people with lots of posts and thanks to their credit starting ridiculous threads in Dev - they obviously got their credentials in some other XDA forum. One was even a recognized developer.

Mods have tools for moving stuff about/deleting threads at their disposal, and I don't think they actually need our help in doing that.

Same here.. I almost created it and I thought twice before posting it..that can I maintain it??? So I made a U-turn. This really need some dedication to monitor the thread. I doubt I could do that.

Yes . its a genuine concern , bot this task must be assigned to 4-5 good people...it will be easily managed.

Yeah. Chilled Beer for you mate.
There is galaxy note wiki by original_ganjaman in general section which contains everything related to SGNote.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_Note/GT-N7000
I do not think dev section is cluttered.
Can't find something you want ? - Have it bookmarked or theres good old 'search'.
Even searching on google 'XDA Galaxy Note Rocket Rom' will give you the results you want.
+1 Great idea

Reccurent threads

Hi,
First of all... Don't kill me
Since a few weeks there is a upsurge of recurrent threads like "What is the best rom", "What is the best kernel", "What is the best rom for battery life", What is the best kernel for battery life" or "Help me to choose a (best) kernel / rom"...
There was this kind of topics 3 / 4 times a day in General and Q&A section... For me it gets boring every day the same threads.
There is not that the rom or the kernel that comes into account about battery life for example, but the settings, the usage,etc... But always (or almost) in these threads the reply is just "x kernel", "xx kernel", "x rom", "xx rom", etc...without more detail...Makes no sense...
There are almost many answers as there are different kernel + all the different settings (CPU freq, GPU freq, undervolt, hotplug, etc...) + the rom used + your personnal settings (sync, brightness, widgets, wifi, etc...) + your use..., etc...
Many of these threads have a dozen answers then they are forgotten and the OP never comes back and does not even give feedback...
What's the point?
With a little search in both General and Q&A section there are some recent threads, rather important (in term of number's reply) and detailed for it to be useful...
Why not post again in one of these threads to move up and continue the discussion into a central thread...
It's so complicated searched a bit, read existing threads, test by itself or form an opinion by reading other feedback?
There would be no threads regarding these questions, ok no worries, but right now there are many, way too much these kind of topics...
These threads are very subjective as the answers and reflects nothing... Almost the time nothing is known of the usage / settings of the OP than the guy who answer, just a name of kernel or rom...
And nothing is says about "Best kernel / rom" or "Best battery life"... What does that mean exactly ...? Unspecified: nothing, therefore unnecessary threads...
Ok, we're here to help, advise and give notice but not 10 times a day the same thing especially that with a minimum of research and reading... there is a response...
Sorry for this topic, if it does not please->trash...
Just so everyone make an effort and you can not see all the time the same thing with the same answers when there is already threads...
And if you do not like... do not read bla bla bla... This is what I do , but when I naviguate in General or Q&A section...and when I see the titles of all these threads it bothers me to navigate through all these threads and to see new interesting topics between all of these topics to see 3 / 4 of interresting...
So please, read and test by yourselves instead of waiting for that we chooses a rom / kernel for you. Thanks.
Isn't a personal satisfaction to find by oneself the "best" rom / kernel who suits our needs? I prefer test and read by myself instead of asking "Hey guys where is the best kernel for performance???", well i've tested all and then I made my conclusion myself and I'm happy to have found by myself
There was this in the Galaxy SIII section:

Guys,
There has been so many "Which is the best ROM?" and "Which is the best kernel?" threads lately.
This is a reminder.. these kind of threads are NOT allowed.
Why are they not allowed? Well because that the best rom and kernel for me might be the worst for someone else. It's subjective. It's like asking who the hottest girl in the world is. Or which sports car is the best. If you ask 100 people you will get 100 different answers.
The best advice is to try them all and figure out which one is best for YOU and YOUR needs. Not based on what's best for someone else.
I have just been closing these threads but I'm going to start to hand out official warnings if it continues.

Hi,
There is still this kind of threads and there will always but if everyone made an effort there would be less. And for some time the answers to these threads are "Try and see, there is no best kernels / rom", yes I think it's the best answer but there is always these threads.
And if people would search a little, they will find that these threads are closed, for a reason. It would be less work for the mods and the section will be less cluttered. We can report the thread but always it's more work for the mods.
Even if the rules are not read quite often, it would be great if a mod can write a little sticky or whatever (an "official" statement) about these threads (since they closed them, there is a reason). So maybe some users before create a thread will take a look at a sticky and think or search a little.
If everyone did a little effort and took his responsibilities without waiting for any other ... I mean threads about "what is the best ******".
Like this one:

[XSola] Freedom of Internet (on XDA forums) >>> Discussion <<<

Hello community.
I am old fan of these forums (changed 5-6 phones over years) and always find it most usefull from all other over internet. Recenty I have feeling that this XDAdeveloper network became something they initial wanted to avoid and over the years they strugle with petitions etc.
THE FREEDOM OF INTERNET (and your right to speak free)
Fact: Threads are closed on every mimics and blinks of eyes all over the forums or posts deleted.
Please consider this as Discussion but not flaming and be gentle and polite to everyone who rise voice. What's are your thoughts?

Coz it was continuously being spammed wid useless posts so it was btr to close it off
There has to be a balance between freedom and rules
100% freedom means no rules and thus things going out of control
Xda is well managed
Rest of the internet... Is good until CIPSA is passed...
Edit - reported for mod review... Its btr we discuss phones and not our freedom on xda
This place has rules and its best to follow them

u noob are u craze
do u want to destroy the form i don’t agree
OP, yes Freedom of the Internet is just that, free to speak but with any organized sense of freedom there are rules to help govern or else it would be randomness/uselessness.
Regarding XDA, as with any forum there are Forum Rules and when Members violate them....then action is required. Maintaining a Forum of this size of Members is a task, but remember this is a Development Site, not a social site.
And as you seem to think your freedom is taken way with the maintenance that is required on the threads, keep in mind again the sole purpose of this site is for Development.
To OP - in short, I agree.
I've opened threads or discussed things which were deleted. Some mods I've communicated with were reasonable and fair but many were not. Communicating with some of them by PM, some were very angry, aggressive, unreasonable etc. I tell you, my nieces and nephews who are young seem calm and resonable by comparisson. Also, I'm quite sure a lot of 'support' goes on behind the scenes. Post number and thanks meter are currencies here, they go far beyond 'showing appreciation' etc. 'Might is right' that's the attitude of a bully or a dictator, not an authority . So, it's 'open' and 'democratic' only up to a point - where it suits particular people. The policies for complaining were equally a joke, in my experience. After that, I decided to keep my posts strickly related to my 'mod' interests and never get side-tracked again. When these people make you angry, remember to let it go, this is not the real world.
ok... i had four android devices: Defy, Xperia Sola, Nexus 7 and Razr I, still have three of this (sola, Razr I and Nexus 7).... Only in this forum i have seen this kind of constriction of users... i could give some examples: In Defy Android Development Forum, cm10 port for Defy, made by Quarx (maybe someone know him, he was the winner of the December contest for devs), there is a enormous flood of noobish post (how to install, stupid questions about fc's, stupid thanks posts, etc.) despite three or four threads in general sections for reporting bugs and other stuff correlated, but Quarx did deleted or close thread? No! Because he only focus in what really matter: Development. He ignores everything else. So, maybe, some devs could learn about this behaviour. And what mods tells about it? sometimes, they made a soft cleanup of useless post...that's all... Sometimes Closing thread doesn't help at all to the community.... I think mods maybe could take a more practical and polite position...

I never saw any 'useful' thread being closed by our mods in this sub forum....
Cm10 thread was closed twice..reason because of spam..only posts such as thanks and great... Yippy... Etc etc
I reported the thread twice to b cleaned
There is a great inflow of members.. Every day 100 of noobs are added and merely few developers...
Useless posts really makes it difficult to find actually useful info..
When I was new here I did created a thread which was closed and I did pm'ed a moderator abt it
Bt now I understand I was wrong... U just cant let this place be cluttered wid useless threads and posts

Btw ho do u expect me to find something useful in a thread wid 100 pages and 1000 posts...
U never knw what are u 'exactly' searching for... Upto the level of thread search performs good ... Within a thread and specifically for finding something useful... Its a pain
Dont u think it is necessary to prevent unnecessary posts and threads? Closing a useless or a mirror thread is necessary
Once people realise there Is no one to check/control... The place would go garbage

Only if members of this forums were more kind and helpful to everyone we could avoid a lot of questions and together we could make more easy the job for the mods. That's something that i miss of Defy Development forum: The sense of real community, in fact, the little knowing about android modding and dev, i have learned in there. Me too! I always have that problem, you try as best as you can.
I recently went to the discussion thread of the unofficial Sola Jelly Bean port. The discussion thread is now also closed. I contacted a mod to ask for information. There was no information in the thread! Next, we will be banned from discussing the discussion of the deleted thread...
dev should ignore newbies because its not the fault of all of us. we dont deserve to lose the scope of JB. and when i had my defy i only knew 1 god for my mobile.. Quarx.. he made things which were not possible without him. i though sola's god was better than him. but he is pissed off by few noobs.

Mods arent that hard...and never will be
How many of us have received any official warning?? None of us I guess bcoz we were smart enough to refrain ourselves from posting non sense... Bt not all have that sense...
We need to understand what mods do is best for the forum... We may be relatively new here bt not the mods.. Some have been here since the website was started... Some although 2-3 yrs old on website spends a lot of time here keeping the place clean n organized.
Unless u do something wrong u wont b caught...
Here at xda we are given several official warnings (sometimes just our post /thread deleted or locked n no warning) before being taken down by a mod...
Ok, good. This is discussion already...
I see people with yes and people with no policy but only because some n00b members don't know how to use this forum (don't forget that there is a lot of amount of young people here - under 15 probably) and they probably don't know how things are going here. If this is a BIG problem for forum moderators (huge amount of new members) I suggest to lift boundaries on "when someone can post something" - think about it... it would be less thanks posts and "yipee"-es.
Please continue...
Here are my thoughts:
I still don't understand why we're still whining about munjeni's lost. Yeah, it's painful and disappointing but guys, we should carry on. Since he has given permission to use his work from the "JB PORT Discussion thread" (can't give the link because the mods deleted it), we can start from what he has left. I don't know why's that the JB thread of thunder is still closed. I know nothing compares to munjeni in terms of developing but we still have great devs here and I still have faith in them. Not just because munjeni has left, the development on JB will stop. I know it's a painful lost but we can't do anything about it anymore, we can just learn from it so that we will not lose another dev again. Come on guys....seriously.
Move on and what? If you think people are whining perhaps you can't understand their motivations. I can understand at least two reasons:
1. As the OP says, there are questions of freedom of expression. An example of this which I mentioned was the thread closing (without information) of the discussion thread of those of using the unoffical Jelly Bean port which, is a bit excessive. This is a ROM on my phone now (and many, many other's) and we simply can't discuss it now. Next, we will be banned from discussing the thread closure of the disucssion on deleted ROM. That's when you know it's North Korea - you can't discuss anything. I think these concerns are valid, even if some don't.
2. You need to learn something when things go wrong, or they will repeat themselves. Simply 'moving on' guarentees a repeat of the same experience. That's why people are discussing it.
But I want to know, why munjeni left us.?

well... Moderators deletes and close thread or comments its normal, its what they do.... they must have valid reason to take actions.
good thing, they are still human and not AI. if they are not here... we'll ended up something like demonoid. people will start posting what ever they want, links to paid apps that they rip or mod. Others will have hard time catching up with roms since everyone starts to copy each other work and claim its theirs....
in short... i dont agree freedom of internet in XDA

Hi, fellow S4 Active users
Before starting a new thread, please read this OP.
Now as you may have noticed there are several questions flooding this sub-forum,
that have been asked a million times,
So let us all be a responsible "NEW USER" and not a "NOOB USER"
I know some of us are new and are not oriented properly on how you can maximize your time by using the almighty search button.
SEARCH BUTTON!!???
Yes, that is correct, the search button...
.
.
No, it is not sorcery or magic,
It is a tool to help everyone out, that is the reason why XDA has spent money making a search engine for us to be more convenient in finding what we seek.
So let us not neglect what XDA has made and let's utilize this search engine,
it is not a benefit, it is a privilege,
For those who don't know how to use it, let me help you.[IMAGE PENDING]
It is that highlighted spot, yeah, right there. Hey look, yup you found it in your own browser.
So, tell me the benefits of this so called 'search button' ? I mean, I can just create a new thread and wait for someone to answer it!
Well,
You can find the answer to your questions faster, since not all senior members, RC's are available all the time and some won't even answer you because it has already been asked again.
You'll help other newbies by orienting them about the search button.
We'll have a clean and uniform forum, a perfect community which all of us can enjoy.
Mods will have less headaches deleting posts and threads that are considered useless.
No one will call you noob. (YAY!)
It will reduce arguments and flaming within the thread.
SO LETS KEEP THIS FORUM PROFESSIONAL,
UTILIZE THE SEARCH BUTTON
Forum basics:

HOW TO MAKE A GOOD QUESTION...
Stupid as it may seem,
There is a good and bad question.
So, here are some tips.
NEVER EVER PANIC!
i know some of us are new and have no experience with android, and suddenly we did something wrong and ended up bricking our phone.
But please don't post:
"Please help my phone is brick, Im desperate!!!!, help me please, i dont know what to do!!!" (Dont ever do this!)
Do so, but do it in a proper manner:
Make sure you write every detail (about what you did before doing something wrong) and your phone bricked.
"Please help me, I tried to flash XYZ rom and when i tried to install it using recovery mode by Vol Up+Home+Power i get a successful install message, however when i turned on my phone it got stuck on bootloop, can u help me with this?, i tried download mode Vol Down+Home+Power and tried odin too but it does not work"
LIST OF ALREADY ASKED POINTLESS QUESTIONS
What is the best ROM?
What is the best kernel?
What is the best launcher?
What is the best apps for xxx?
Basically these are all dependent on the nature of the user, there is no best ROM, kernel, launcher, app since we all have our own preferences so its endlessly pointless to even make or ask threads.
How to get paid apps?
Paid Apps for Free are known as warez and you can't get it on XDA.
When will ROM/KERNEL XYZ be released?
Any rom/kernel release question should go to the development thread, also its rude to ask for ETA's (estimated time of arrival)
I saw that CM ** is released on XYZ is please make it work
NO, please look at the development thread to get into the real condition of CM ports, if its not here, its not real
X Rom vs. Y Rom
Same reason as asking what is the best ROM, its really up to the user preference
I RECOMMEND ALL NEW USERS TO WATCH THIS
(NOBODY'S A NOOB OK?) ITS JUST FOR EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES
