Does anyone know if it will be possible to flash a new Rom on the Republic Wireless version of the Moto X? or is a Rooted stock rom with Xposed the only real option?
Has there been any progress towards getting the stock Rom's source, or is there a good way to flash back to stock if things go badly?
It seems like the Republic Wireless app runs as a service and updates via the play store. It is likely that RW has made customizations to the rom to support the wifi/cell handoff, but maybe it's all rolled up in the RW app???
Once you get root you should be able to dump the rom so that you can revert if things go badly...

Hi
Long time observer & admire you guy here on what you do, this website has helped alot but now i finally have a question.
With Paranoid Droid v0.2 i have followed Dr.Ketan's guide to downgrade & then root/install cwm & then update back to 2.3.6 via ODIN Mobile, the root is cf-root on a Galaxy Note, can i flash this rom with what i have currently?
Thanks in advance.
You are on rooted Gb and yes you can flash it safely. Wipe data and cache and flash the rom ...then flash the gapps. All done
I assume i flash it with ODIN Mobile & not from CWM?
I think i got it (it installed all fine etc) via CWM.
How do i get all the S-Pen apps back? are they on the market?

The S-pen apps will not work in this rom.
Thanks for the info, but i have now gone back to official firmware, so i assume only roms tweaked from the original source will have the feature set still? even so it was also missing the built in FM Radio app to listen to local radio without needing to stream it.
On a side note, whats the deal i been hearing with Touchwiz 5.0 some people say its on the Note others same its 4.0. Which version is it & what is the differences?

You should definitely research on how to root and know what risks are involved before you try this.
Has anyone tried to go back to Android 4.4 after flashing lollipop 5.0?
I haven't been able to flash any Android 4.4 ROM after installing. Does anyone have any idea on how to do so?
Any help is truly appreciate.
Where did you get Lollipop from? Is there some sort of OTA that I'm unaware of? Do you have an SM-N910T or some other variant?
If you flashed a Lollipop ROM like CM or Liquid Smooth from the development section you should be able to Odin back to stock no problem. As far as I know there is no official Lollipop for the T-Mobile Note 4..

Is that true? There isn't an official lollipop release for us yet?

Yes. I installed Liquidsmooth from the development section. But Odin does not recognize my phone.
I have the T-Mobile Galaxy Note 4.
BTW thanks for the rapid help!
Do a wipe in team win recovery. Cache, Dalvick cache, and data.
Then flash a 4.4.4 rom.
I've done it many many times, without issue
Ok. It seems like there was a issue with the phone's drivers. Now Odin recognizes my phone.
Now the question is: I have some android 4.4 Roms in my sdcard such as Infamous v8, DinamicKat etc. How do I flash one of them through Odin since I have not been able to do it through TWRP in recovery mode?
Thanks again for the help.
Can't flash those through Odin. You need to Odin back to stock, root, flash TWRP, then load a custom ROM.
You see anything good in LolliPop?
Well, the UI is different (doesn't mean better), I'm running Liquidsmooth beta. There are a ton of features missing on this ROM. That's the reason for why Im going black to kitkat 4.4

Flash in TWRP CM12 port you'll get the lolipop UI from it. Works great super smooth but audio randomly goes super loud. Other people running CM12 across other devices are having this issue too.

There is more to life than custom ROM's.
That said, many of the apps that require root have alternatives for people without root.
For example, Adaway requires root, while AdBlockPlus works without root.
They perform the same functionality, just with different permissions.
The only reason I am not yet ready to give up root is Viper4Android is the best app for tweaking audio,
and without root it is impossible to remove crapware

There is another reason for actually. .. it is adding arabic language to the system and the only way is by using root permissions

You can flash a ROM without root. You just need a PC and software that bypasses the locked bootloader so you can flash the custom ROM onto your device. I recommend the SP Flash Tool for Windows if you don't want to root your phone and still run a custom ROM.

SAD. like I said earlier, it is still impossible to install a custom ROM without root.
If you really need root, you could try looking on Swappa for one that either has root or has an early enough build date to obtain root.
I have the same Build: G925VVRU4BOG7 and have been looking for root options for months now. I just received access to Samsung Pay which I'm pretty excited to check out (and I heard can be lost if you trip KNOX), but I still would like root as this is the only phone I've owned which can't be rooted.
Additionally, I JUST received a software update notification... I'm user what to do. If I update, maybe someone will figure out a way to root the new version. However, if I do update and then someone finds a root method for G925VVRU4BOG7, I will probably shoot myself in the kneecap lol.
Does anyone have any suggestions for accepting the software update? Thank you!

if I were in your shoes I would take the update. there is no clue when or even if root will ever be achieved on 5.1 for the Verizon variants
I have turbo unlocked with twrp working..
I'm willing to downgrade it to kitkat 4.4.4 with twrp.
Need help in downgrading rom except for the flash method in which we don't have to flash gpt.bin.
You sure you don't want to try computerfreek's tweek of the stock rom? Version 1.08 runs as fine as any stock rom. Throw in the recently ripped camera, and I can't imagine why someone would want KitKat.

You would download Kitkat Verizon firmware, flash via ADB but omit gpt.bin from the flash commands. Also if you want to keep TWRP custom recovery, you would also omit flashing recovery.img.

Go down to the bottom of that page and look for VRZ files.
This one -- VRZ_XT1254_SU2-12_12_CFC.xml.zip 1.17 GB February 25, 2015 -- was probably the last Kitkat 4.4.4 Droid Turbo file before Lollipop.

Agreed. I'm still on a custom RR Marshmallow ROM because it's rock solid, gives me CM themes, as well as Xposed modules. I am running @bhb27's advanced custom kernel again, but my wife's phone didn't like it so keeping her on regular ROM kernel. Still haven't seen the need yet to upgrade to Nougat. Plus I see a TON of complaints about phones shutting down at 20% or so, and they all seem to be on Nougat ROMs.
