Audio volume through headphones - Moto X Q&A

Are there any 3.5 mm headphones that work with the moto x that can control the volume through a button on the headphones? It's sometimes called a online volume rocker. If so, what brand/model do you have?
I can't seem to get any to work with this phone.

Bumping my own thread in hopes that someone has some info on this...

Moving my own post to proper thread.

I don't think it's possible... Most android phones can use only 1 button earphones... Sad.

Sadly, none that I have found. I got a free pair of SOL Jax from Moto, so I'll see if that works. From what I know, only the GS4 supports 3 button earphones, and only the ones that come with it.

I had a gs3, a galaxy nexus, nexus s, and evo 4g prior to the moto x, they all supported it! This is so silly

Sorry, the gs3 supported it as well. I had the gnex and the nexus s, and they didn't support them. Not sure what you used.

I'm guessing you're talking about the microphone and headset controls. I don't know of any headphones other than the stock ones that come with Milestone that will work, but you can always try.

You can buy any iPhone compatible earphones. The only one with in-line mic and answer button. Not the control talk models (with volume up and down) because it got some problems with our phones. Pay attention for Samsung and Nokia compatible because they don't work: GND and Mic contacs are swapped on them (like OMTP standards and our Milestone is not OMTP compatible).

just checked with the iPhone hands free its working fine but you may not able to answer call using hands free..
you cant pause music and cant control volume..!!
when you use it,,it changes the track..!
I think there is no standard protocol how head phone control is implemented, iphone head phones would sure onyl work with iphone.
If anyone cares sgs2 headphones are workin to play/pause.
I don't know if they work to answer a call because i don't use headphones to make/answer a call.

[Q] Atrix headset

I lost my headset so I wanna buy a headset for my Atrix which support button & mic to answer calls . Do u know where I can buy it and which one? Plz help me becoz I dont know much about online store which sell and ship international. Thank you.
I use Creative EP630 and it works much better than stock Moto headset. Why do you still plan to get an original one? Grab a Senheisser or Creative. It will perform better.

No,they came out just now, after I sold my nexus4 and I already have too many standard ones. But they are the same LG quadbeat headphones.
It has mic and push button answer.

Hello
As far as I know, most headsets sold on Chinese websites, like DX, work on Android, and let you use the button for answering or hanging up calls.
I bought once this one: http://dx.com/p/stylish-in-ear-earp...control-for-iphone-4-4s-ipod-ipad-blue-125912
It says "iPhone", but also worked perfectly on my Atrix.
Sound quality is poor, but if you want it as a Handsfree, does a perfect job.
Greetings,

[Q] Three Button Headset

How do I make a three button headset work with my Moto X?
Yesterday I got a set of free headphones from a Samsung Galaxy Mega promo booth. They had three buttons (normal button plus volume up and down) so I sent a tweet with their #makeitmega hastag and got my free swag...and promptly deleted the tweet.
Unfortunately, none of the buttons do anything. The volume up and down do nothing while I am on a call, and the other button didn't seem to do anything either. Is there any way to make this work? Its not like I am trying to use an apple headset...samsung was giving these away so presumably they work with android.

Samsung headsets are different than normal 'Apple Comaptible' headsets. The middle button and mic work on all my Apple headsets, but my Samsung specific headset, nothing works. I'm wondering if the M4D3 Sol Republic ones on the Moto site will have 3 buttons/work properly?

Wait, so they are selling 3-button headphones in colors to match the phones...and the volume buttons don't even work?
I have still been unable to get *any* of the buttons on this samsung headset to work. I have some one button headsets that I am assuming will work (though I haven't tried yet), but the volume controls would be nice, especially when you are on a conference call where some people are on really loud handsets and others are on super quiet speakerphones.

I can't speak for the earbuds that you actually get with the phone, but I'm 99% sure that the ones I have are the same, and no, the volume buttons don't work.
EDIT: unless the ones that Moto ships which the phones are customized somehow, which seems unlikely but I suppose it's possible.

They do claim they are 'M4DE' for Motorola and prominently feature the volume buttons in the presser. Whether thats just marketing/pr not talking to the engineers, who knows.

Well at least that explains it. It's a bit disappointing though, I was looking forward to that as sort of a new feature for an android phone. I can't believe they haven't done it yet - I mean, how hard can it possibly be?

Which earphones are compatible for Moto G 2014?

Hello,
My Moto G 2014 isn't detecting my Xiaomi Piston 2.0 earphones, but the ones Motorola packed with the phone works [They aren't really great though]. Is there any way I could make my Piston 2.0 earphones work with my phone or what's the best, compatible earphones for Moto G 2014?
Thanks! :good::good:

Yes, I wholeheartedly recommend them.
A tad bit heavy on wallet, for sure.
But if sound quality is a must, you should definetly check it out
EDIT; If you can stretch out your budget a bit more, be sure to check sennheiser cx300 II out too

Can't really help you man. Someone in the piston xda forums advised me this converter. I haven't bought it because as you said in the pvt message, chinese suppliers take a looonggg time to dispatch their products. Thus no point. I can't find any converter here in India too. I don't think anyone here sells it.
Anyways let me know if you find something. I'll appreciate it.
Samsung ear buds work fine.. The button control doesn't work though!

Philips SHE3595 are working too.

I recommend Snab Overtone EP-81 M. Controls and mic works, metal body, thick cord and great powerful sound. Deep fully controlled bass, clear treble, mids slightly withdrawn, but still clear. The sound is addictive. I can not imagine ANY other headphones.
But... this is polish product.
Sony MH 750 are working fine, mic, one button.
Are there any 3 buttons headphones + mic compatible? Xiaomi Pistons 2 works but no vol+vol- buttons
Edit: never mind motorola said me thru chat that just one-button remote is supported...
my wife just got these http://www.amazon.com/audio-technica-smartphone-ATH-S100iS-BGR-Black-Green/dp/B00FFKJ3GM for her moto g 2014, one button ops with volume slider.
short press activates the music app, long press activates voice dialling
2 combos!
I suggest you the LG G2 headset with volume command and mic (or Samsung's S5 headphones), but if you have a MOTO 360 you can use Apple's In-ear headphones + play music controls on the wearable! These headsets are wired. You can find on amazon or other places Bluetooth headsets too!
Right now I'm using an Alpatronix HX110 + wearable controls. But in the end you have to decide your combo according to your tastes and your budget!

[Q] Nexus 6 headphone volume

Anyone else less then impressed by the max headphone volume on the Nexus 6? I mean, it's better than the Nexus 5 was by far, but I was really hoping that the volume on this would be comparable to the iPhone and it isn't. Otherwise I love this phone, it's awesome in every other way.
Anyone have any mods/apps that could help correct this issue? That's what I had to do with my Nexus 5 to get it to a point I liked.
System/ect/mixer_paths.xml. That was the file we changed on the g3. It's there just don't know what values need to change.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2952137
I've used that with my nexus 5 and it worked good. I've been very impressed with the n6 compared to my n5, galaxy s4 and galaxy nexus. I've never had iproduct before which is probably why I'm so pleased with the audio out on the n6.

I use Viper4AndroidFX and it has a large number of sound mods in there that can get your sound higher quality.
very unimpressive coming from the HTC One m8. Boomsound through the headphones was very good.
I always use bluetooth headsets, and sometimes I wish the volume would go up one or two bumps higher... I also had the same issue with my Nexus 4 and 5, so I'm kinda used to it now. I suppose it's better for my ears this way anyway.
