[Q]Getting LTE back. - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Alright, so I've tried everything, everything I can, to get the LTE back working on the HTC one. And i mean everything, I've updated the Firmware to the current firmware, flashed, and reflashed the ARHD Rom that I use, clean, and dirty installs, over and over again, and i just can't seem to get it to recognize that we are in LTE, it insists on using H.
I've gone into the dialer code, and checked it displays HSPAP, and when i switched it to LTE Only, it refused to find a signal at all. I don't know what i need to do, the oddest thing was, i hadn't made any changes! It was working on LTE before i gave it to my girlfriend, when i did, I did the 4.2 fix, to clear up the internal memory by wiping it, then ADP pushing ARHD to the phone. Low and behold week or two later i notice that it's saying H, when i know we are in LTE coverage, because well its where we live, and it had been before, and because my phone right next to it, has 5 bars of LTE glory.
Any tips, suggestions, anything, would be GREATLY appreciated, cause I'm stumped. I've never played with radios, aside from updating the firmware with whatever those come with, and as i said, it was working fine before doing the memory fix to clear it for my girlfriend to take over. Please please, someone have a suggestion, i want her phone to run the LTE it should when she's not one wifi.

Reflash official ruu back?

check the APN.

Can't find the official RUU, and the APN settings seem to be fine, alongside what everything says it should be.

S-OFF ?
What's your CID?
The loss of LTE is certainly interesting, It shouldn't be firmware or rom dependent. Can't be a frequency issue since this phone was working on the carrier's network prior. Have you tried putting your sim card in the phone ? Her sim card in your phone? There is always the chance of carrier error.

I'll have to look when I get home, I have it set to super cid right now. As for the sims, I had briefly, but not for an extended test, it displayed the same h for my Sim.

If it's super CID then that also likely means your S-OFF.
You can flash any RUU, but might want to start with one from your carrier if available.
lots of stock roms/ruu here:

So I just clicked the more info tab on your profile. I saw vancouver and thought Canada but your profile shows USA and ATT. you're using the apn "phone" ?
For ATT here's what you want:

What's the difference between flashing RUU and flashing firmware? Plus I've seen very small mention of my CID being responsible possibly, that going back to S-on improves speed. I don't personally believe it cause I had s-off with my Sim working fine.

S-On improve speed? That's completely illogical.
The CID has nothing to do with network connectivity; it's just there for identifying which RUU or OTA should be applied to your phone. Essentially version control for the various carrier models.
An RUU will wipe all data from the phone and rewrite all the firmware, recovery, and system. You can absolutely try extracting the firmware.zip from the RUU I linked and flashing that by itself in RUU mode via fastboot.
FWIW, I'm using an ATT branded One that's S-OFF and super CID on ATT Gophone. I've never had an issue with LTE connectivity. I also have three friends/relatives with s-off/super CID ATT branded One's using Net 10 [ATT] and they also have never had any LTE issues. All the devices I speak of are running full GPE conversions but I don't believe that to be relevant.

Alright, I just did a firmware update last night, to the current 3.62 whatever, official HTC one firmware, but I'll give it a try. Can I restore data from a nandroid backup, without it returning my firmware, or do I just need to long reinstall everything?

Nandroid doesn't backup firmware. It grabs /system /data /cache, boot and recovery.
you can RUU and then test LTE, when you get LTE working flash your favorite recovery and then restore your nandroid. LTE should continue working.

Thanks, I just tested hers with my Sim, went into *#*#4635#*#* and forced LTE and it worked! So now I'm trying to do the same with her Sim and if the problem continues we will be making a stop at ATT today.

No signal

Hi I have a complicated situation. I got a used IS and had it unlocked and repaired in europe and this friend of mine rooted it and put the core droid v1 rom on it.
I'm back in my home in Canada and planning to use it with my Fido sim card. Problem is that now I'm not getting any signal at all. I don't want to send my phone all the way to europe again to fix this. Before sending it for repair to this "friend" it had a stock rom and worked fine with my fido sim card.
I tried installing a new radio but turned out I needed to make a goldcard, which I don't have an adapter for at this point. Then I decided to simply reinstall a stock rom and downloaded some RUU and it gave me a "can't connect to android" error. I don't even know which RUU I should install since I have no clue which stock rom was installed before.
I tried entering access point settings manually, which I found on fido forums and that didn't help. I also screwed up during the goldcard method and raw edited my hd instead of the sd and now my laptop won't even start. I'm at the point when I want to bang my head on the wall! What should I do?
Thanks.

s-off should be able to flash radio where did you get the radio file from?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1129014 ?
Yes but i'm not sure which one. Some guy said in some thread to take some radio that's apparently faster than the newest one but I can't find the thread nor remember the radio lol.
Used this guide to bypass incorrect cid
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1145541
and used the virgin mobile australian RUU from the rom collection even though this phone apparently was on virgin mobile canada.
Rom is working properly, except there is still no signal.
I tried with two sim cards: one with a data account and one with a normal account. Still nothing. I'm gonna go ask fido in person if they can do something but i fear they will force me into another data plan. Any ideas?

[Q] Error while searching for networks

Hello XDA,
Before I came to this subforum I was under the impression I had a regular HTC One, I got the same error message and then figured out I had a Sprint HTC One.
Now I had the issue where I had no service at all, my Sim card seemed to be detected but I ofcourse had the wrong firmware on it likely causing the issue.
So I got new firmware and a cm 12 (also tried stock rom) rom, but comming up to the same error message. The Sim card is detected and I am asked to fill in the pin for it which I was not when I had the wrong rom/firmware. I am not sure what is going wrong and I hope you guys can help me.
I am in The Netherlands and I am using radio Baseband - 1.01.20.0515
Thanks
Edit:
Tried:
RUU's:
I tried flashing this ruu, no success.
I flashed 3.04.651.2 RUU and 5.05.651.2 RUU after that to be sure to have a radio (according to this thread) but with no success. I also tried flashing the radio Baseband - 1.01.20.0515 again after it dit not work.
Radio's:
Baseband - 1.01.20.0515
bump
I wish I could help. My only suggestion is to try to run the Sprint RUU to reset the phone back to stock with the latest firmware to see if that helps. Unless I'm mistaken, the issue is that Europe uses GSM and Sprint is a CDMA carrier. So, you may not even have the right radios in the phone. The only saving grace is that it is a worldphone that uses LTE bands so you might be able to access those. But, you may have to unlock the SIM card first. At this point, I'm pretty much just throwing out ideas I've seen on the site since I've never been in the situation myself.

The hardware is capable of doing it. Before I started flashing it worked fine. I've tried going back to the stock rom but with no success.

sounds like you flashed a gsm rom on a cdma phone, and now the partitions are messed up, only way out of that that I know of is running the RUU for the sprint phone.
I've tried that no success

advice: returning to stock etc

I gave my mom my old HTC ONE M7, which she loves. It started having the audio problem recently in calls, and I couldn't fix it over the phone troubleshooting, so I had her send it to me. To make things easier in the future, I decided to return to stock so it could get OTA updates in the future. It is unlocked with s-off and I had a custom ROM on it for her.
It had a 1.55 HBOOT version and I read that I should flash down to 1.44 HBOOT and then RUU (RUU_M7_UL_JB_50_Cingular_US_1.26.502.15...etc) to stock image which I have done.
The phone is now running AT&T stock:
hboot: 1.44
firmware: 1.26.502.15
model: pn0712000
cid: 11111111
So now here's my particular issue. I don't have a sim card that will fit into the phone. My mom lives far away, she kept the card to put in her backup phone while I fixed this one. I can't update the phone on AT&T's network without a sim card, so I can't do OTA updates to get it up to date.
I have done some searching but found nothing definite. Are there no downloadable OTA files from AT&T? If so, i'm assuming every update must be done in order (in other words, i can't just find the latest OTA and apply it, they would need to be applied incrementally)?
Anyone have any suggestions?
If I was to forget about AT&T and go to straight HTC image or Google Edition, (where it could still get OTA) what should I do from here?
I suppose if I can't find anything at all, I can go to an AT&T store and see if they can let me use a sim card or something (I have AT&T as well, the same account as hers, but my M8 uses a smaller sim card).

You can't update AT&T M7 is the phone isn't connected to at&t network but with s-off you can manually flash ota update from stock recovery, and yes it must be done incrementally.

Change your cid to BS_US001 and use the latest dev edition version. You'll get ota updates even if not on the at&t network.

Such a simple, yet brilliant suggestion. I was making it over complicated. I changed CID to BS_US001 and installed RUU_M7_UL_JB_50_BrightstarUS_WWE_1.29.1540.16 and the device is now doing OTA updates.
Thanks for the suggestion.

no problem
Even simpler: you could have used a newer RUU like the 4.19.1540.9 RUU and do all ota updates to 6.09.1540.2
Or you could have flashed the latest dev edition stock rom and the matching firmware available in my thread to avoid downloading 10 ota updates.
But the final result will be the same, just a little longer and consume much more bandwidth.

[Q] HTC One M7 Sprint hard bricked? Any solution?

I messed up this phone big time, and I accept all responsibility. However, I would just want to know if it can be salvaged in any way at all possible.
Here is what happened:
I bought the phone on ebay. It was rebooting just after booting up. I read somewhere it had to do with the radio. I flashed the radios for the version yet no improvement. When Lollipop RUU came out I used it to update and it stopped rebooting, but no radio. I flashed it to a CDMA network here, as I usually do, yet no service. I paid for Sunshine and unlocked bootloader. I installed CWM and flashed CM11. No radio as well. I now went into adventure mode: What if I changed CID and install a Verizon RUU, maybe it could help. I changed CID to 11111111 and tried flashing a Verizon M7 RUU. It failed and asked for Model ID compatibilty. I went further and changed Model ID to Verizon (PN0731000) from Sprint Model ID (PN0720000) and there the problem started. The RUU failed again and the phone got stuck in this mode (see attached pictures). Fastboot still works but I think there's a mixup in the CID/MID so it can't take any RUU.
Is this phone recoverable? If yes, how? I will be very happy to try anything, even if it means spending extra to get it done. I would want to fix this and learn from the process.
Thanks in advance.

Problem solved. I had to try so many things, but the good thing is that this phone (once you're S-OFF and can get into fastboot) is virtually unbrickable. At last everything works now, even the GSM unlock. I will try and outline the steps I went through in case someone someday needs it.
Of course no way to install Verizon ruu some hardware differences have been found

htc One m8 Sprint invalid sim error

i am using a htc One m8 that i recently updated to android 6.0 marshmallow and everything seems to be working fine till i woke up this morning and realised the phone was off. turned it on and realised the phone said invalid sim.
in upadting the phone I used the RUU and initially the phone said invalid sim , then i went through the process by writing the OEM CID to 11111111 and the network started working. Tried that this time and its not working , any suggestions?
The phone runs with 6.20.651.3 marshmallow.
Thinking of running the RUU and going through the process again but dont wanna lose my stuff.
Update: i set the CID to 11111111 through fastboot but i boot the phone and went to dailer and dailed *#*#4636#*#*, went into phone info but the CID there was bb89557. any ideas why it different.
Hi
Had the same issue. Running the RUU wont help even. As of now, am trying downgrading to 4.20.651.1 and then updating the radio thru terminal emulator. Will update if it works.

i managed to downgrade the phone to 5.0.1 firmware (lollipop) and found a thread on Sim Unlock and used it to make the network work. Finally the networks working fine and i get mobile data connection but its GSM, dont think that can be changed so am keeping it like that.

I just switched to Project Fi (I love my Pixel XL) and wanted to use my HTC One M8 as a data only device. The only issue is I am having problems getting the GSM Sim to work. would you mind posting what method you were able to get it working?
Thanks
I faced the a similar problem when i tried to convert mine to GPe, the phone never booted so i decided to put sense back, but my sim was not detected after that,i was looking around for a few hours i finally fixed the problem, i made a flasheable zip mixed with firmware 3.28.401.9 with the Sprint Radio and bingo its working aagain, i flashed it with RUU method, and my phone is S-OFF
