Is there any chance of Miui Rom being ported to Nexus 5?
N5 is considered a developer phone so hopefully a dev will eventually pick up the project.
I'm willing to help fund a Miui Rom port project if any dev wants to play around Miui source code.
What are your thoughts?

MIUI must update their AOSP sources to 4.4 KitKat before we attempt to port it to the Nexus 5. I've been out of the MIUI scene for a while but I believe they are still using jellybean sources.
Also, MIUI China has officially supported most if not all Nexus devices so far so I'm sure once they figure out their plans with 4.4, they will support is "officially."
Nexus 4 is not officially supported so who knows about the Nexus 5.

MIUI is currently running 4.3 so it looks like once they upgrade their AOSP source to 4.4 we can start looking forward to ports.

As of now Google has made the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean source code public so that developers can download it and start developing ROMs based on it.
Google has also released the factory images to the Nexus 4, Nexus 7 and Nexus 10. Additionally the factory image for the “takju” Galaxy Nexus is also available.
So developers can start making Roms

If I'm not mistaken, proprietary drivers have yet to be open sourced though. So no complete custom Nexus 4 roms yet

My question is, will Qualcomm even release the source for all their drivers?

Hello,
When this android 5.0, will be to our devices?
e.g. CM12, unofficial ports or other rom
Android Kitkat 4.4 was released last year on 31st October 2013, laufersteppenwolf's CM11 thread was started in december 2013. That's less than 2 months.
There might be issues we don't know yet, it takes a while. The Android 5.0 source code is not even fully released yet. I'm sure it will come to our device, be patient
yes, but this is an exception because it was released much earlier version for developers

Yes, however. They did not release the full source code git and it was a dev image for the Nexus 5, it would take a lot of work just to port the dev image. It could be done but a lot of work.
In 2 days the official SDK is available
whats nwes about lolipop for our devices?

Can't agree more!
As stated here http://www.xda-developers.com/android/android-lollipop-next-batch/
a few devices which are not as powerful as the LG OPTIMUS 4X HD (Moto G, Xperia L, LG L9) have received an android 5.0 lollipop build, so nothing is impossible
As far as i know, LG L9 which also received a build has similar software with our phone so devs can help eachother with small tweaks to make it happen

Im running CM 11 nightly "11-20141113-NIGHTLY-p880" so the nightly built on Nov. 13th. And I do not think that I have ever used a smoother build. I have had no problems with this build. So IMO, we already do have stable CM11.
LG L9 have nothong in common with our device (processor,GPU,camera,etc..) Also it 99% depends on developers.

hi guys, in these days i'm using patchrom to port miui v6 on my galaxy s4 but i want to port the miui on my nexus 6
patchrom says that the stock rom must be based on android 4.4 or above, but i'm not sure if "above" include lollipop (nexus 6 don't have kitkat and no binaries or driver for it)
my question is: can it be possible to port miui v6 on the nexus 6 if there is no kitkat for it?
No
very helpfull....
Problably yes, but we need developers to do. Port Miui from Mi 4 Pro

the people that can port, have no interest in miui. the people that dont know how to port, want to run miui. either wsy, theres no miui for the n6.
Its a bummer, I really like MIUI.
@BigDig Not everyone loves stock Android. Same reason why lots of people buy Samsung devices, or HTC, or any other manufacturer devices. Stock Android is simple and clean but it's lacking in so many features because Google leaves that to the manufacturers to contribute. MIUI is incredibly popular overseas, and for good reason. You can't say it's a joke when it has more than 100 million users worldwide.
This question is mainly for the devs or people who are well versed in the world of Android OS.
Is it possible to port Android One to our phone, the Mi 5?
Or would you get the same experience as when flashing Lineage OS?
Thanks
Why? It's just aosp with camera app from miui which is already ported.

If you read the last part of my post, I wanted to know if the experience would be just the same as flashing Lineage OS. My phone hasn't been recovery- unlocked yet and wanted to know more about other OS before diving in.

No, it wouldn't, LOS is a based on a different branch, so it isn't pure AOSP at it's core.
You would get that experience you want (similar to stock Mi A1's) with JDCTeam AOSP, but I do recommend AEX
You can install MIUI cam in all of them.
We have a BIG idea!
Develop android 7.1.1 with all note8 (it means Samsung experience 8.5 and new kernel) features for galaxy Note4.
But we need developers, so if you are a developer and you want to help join us please.

I'm not a dev but i could help with testing.
I'm just a noob (910V) ,, but I am willing to be a beta tester....very much looking forward to this build...
Sounds good, if you need help, here I am, but Telegram its a better way to do discuss :fingers-crossed:
I'm not a dev but I have a note 4 Sprint and can be a tester or do other tasks. I'm in!
Can we use something other than WhatsApp? I 2nd the telegram notion.
Remember when XDA used to have Logic and common sense ?
Let's go over this one more time
You want to port Android 8.0 to Note 4. Are you talking about porting official TW Oreo from Note 8, or porting all TW features - proprietary, closed-source Samsung code - from TW to AOSP?

Good luck with Porting a 64Bit System to a 32Bit Device... Simply not possible. And ported 64Bit Sammy Features on 32Bit AOSP? Mhh... The Note 4 may be the last good Sammy Device, but we will never see newer Samsung Software on it as Marshmallow Ports or pure AOSP/Lineage. Correct Me if i'm wrong but i think that's it....
Lineage 14.x is running great,if the drivers are there why slouldnt run a N8port dousnt run?

Well generally speaking when you port a rom (Nougat , MM whatever the case maybe) from a 64bit device, you dont port it as 64bit obviously unless the arch is unlocked and ready for it, you port it as 32Bit, the only limitation in terms of Touchwiz is when a certin app has only 64bit libs (Bixby voice is a great example) so even if you run api 24 (nougat) you wont be able to use such apps, But firmware side you can port it without issues, All 64bit phones include a set of 32bit libs aswell. and in terms of snapdragon Note 4 , yes you will never see a nougat or higher ""TOUCHWIZ"" based rom, Exynos however is already running Nougat.

As we all know you cant run TouchWiz based applications on AOSP (SystemUI / Launcher and many more) due to the fact that they require SEM codes (Samsung experience mobile), If samsung had their system sources up then you would have been able to, But just converting LOS 14 or AOSP to TouchWiz is just not gonna happen

because will never work since sammy needs his own android runtime etc etc for boot because it have methods etc needed from the framework etc. try to install the n8 launcher on lineage and you see what happens. it give fc. even after you add the missing method it will again fc and even when you add all missing methods that launcher needs in frameworks it will still fc because methods in the main libs are missing. and using sammy libs on lineage one is impossible since after some libs replace it will give a nice blackscreen
Hello,i have a question, the dates from the N4 and Nexus 6 are quite similar:

For the nexus 6 exists an Android 8 port,

So,is it possible to make from this one a poert for our N4??

I think it is possible to port Oreo to the Note 4, but not TW version of Oreo (in other words, include all Note 8 features in an Oreo port)
It will most likely be ported as Lineage or RR without the extra Sammy features, idk.
