Hi. I recently discovered some software based features that devices similar to ours (Nexus 4, Nexus 5) have. One of them is called Photo Sphere, and it comes with Nexus 5, as well as some other kit kat devices. You can see this camera feature in action on the video below:
The other feature I adored is Dual Camera Recording. This feature is supported by devices such as Optimus G Pro and Galaxy S4. You can see this feature in action here:
My question is: Can we somehow use any of these features in our device, either by an app or a firmware update(to kit kat)?
If no, what is the limitation?
If yes, how can I do it?
I'm currently on Vanir Nightly 27/11/13 and iodak v8 (repack 4.3.1)
For photosphere, search for 4.3 nexus 4 photosphere app, just instqll it like normal app and it will work. No dual camera as of yet afaik

ok, thanks. Do you think it's a hardware limitation? (I'm talking about the dual camera)

Howdy folks! I'm considering getting a Galaxy Camera 2, but PhotoSpheres are pretty important to me. I know that Google's camera app is only supported on 4.4, but is there a way to get it working on Galaxy Cam 2?
Thanks!
there's an older version of the google camera app that has photosphere and works on android 4.1.2
i have it on my galaxy camera 1.
and my galaxy k zoom has a photosphere feature built into the samsung camera app, so you might not even need to install the google camera.

The Android 4.2 camera/gallery app will work on the GalCam2. I really don't think it's as good as the Samsung photosphere, I've got that on my Note3. It will also show and extra camera and gallery(the android ones).
Surprised no one is talking about Snap camera here. Its a new camera app in CyanogenMod 13 nightlies that is based on the Snapdragon camera app from Qualcomm.
Compared to Google Camera, Snap camera is significantly faster. It does not support RAW capture or any other advanced camera option like shutter speed, ISO levels etc, but it is well worth using just for the speed increase.
I also think that my N5 focuses faster with Snap camera compared to other camera apps that I have tried.
Made a video of the UI in action over here if you guys are interested: https://youtu.be/O3NpF9ZcT1M
On other phones compatible phones like LG G4 etc., the app does support HDR mode and other advanced features like ISO levels, exposure levels etc.
Ive used this app for about a year. The clean UI and the amount of features make it easily one of my favorites. (fyi ive used it on a g3, n6, n6p, opo, edge, edge+, BlackBerry Priv and a moto x 2013 & 2014 and its always worked for me with HDR working best on the Nexus devices)

This link points to Snap camera HDR, which is in my knowledge different from Snapdragon camera. As fa as I know there is no way to install Snapdragon camera on N5 with stock marshmallow. So CM13 and variants after the 1.09 build are the only way to go . However the camera does not support HDR mode yet.
Please correct me if I am wrong.

Doesn't work. Repost?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
Now there are many phones with dual camera system, most of them having better camera software with smooth UI and better post capture processing and also better portraits.
The stock moto cam app is very laggy and buggy, but we have hardware thats required, only software issue..... So is it possible to Port other phone's camera app to work with the g5s+ (nougat) along with portrait feature too?
If it's possible, then can any dev make it possible:fingers-crossed:?
We all would Love the work :fingers-crossed:
Why don't you give it a try to port one?

Hello guys, I need some help... I'm using my smartphone camera for recording seminars and such... When using S8, it is rooted an I can remove camera limitation... I don't intend to root my Note 9, so can I ask for an alternative ways to record without limitation? I checked open camera already, but for some reason it says video quality not supported when opted for a 1080/60 settings. I'm using an exynos version though, so perhaps it is the cause.
Well, when I'm using S8, I can record 1080p 60fps for roughly 2 hours without issue, so I have confident that recording in Note 9 won't give problem.. I really hated samsung's limitation
You need zero camera

Hi everyone! I saw that in Note9 you no longer have the option of dual shooting as it was on the Note4 model. Can something be done in this regard? Is there any other application that can do this for example GCam? Thanks!
this is the best samsung camera app with all of this features that (I don't know why) are missing nowadays
