Hi there is no root package available for JVN....you could install a pre rooted stock samsung firmware via Odin...(google or you tube it first then ask questions if unsure) , if you then want to unroot the phone you just install a totally stock samsung firmware.
thanks
ok thank you i ll try it...
Flash cf-root kernel with Odin or search and download "oneclickroot" to your PC and follow instructions.
Search for cf-root

How to install Cyanogen Mod on stock Galaxy S

Hey guys,
This is my first post on these forums. I have a stock Vodafone NZ Samsung Galaxy S i9000 and am wanting to root it and install CM9 on it but have no experience whatsoever with this sort of thing so a bit of help would be greatly appreciated.
I found this post on rooting a Galaxy S but had trouble trying to understand exactly what I was supposed to do and which file to download.
I'm hoping someone here wouldn't mind directing me to the right files and explain what exactly I'm supposed to do to root my phone and then install the new ROM?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788108
Model Number: GT-i9000
Firmware Version: 2.3.3
Baseband Version: I9000SRJV1
Kernel Version: 2.6.35.7-I9000XWJVH-CL184813 [email protected] #2

Let me know if you need any more details.
Thanks for all the help

[Q] How to start from the begining ?

Hello guys/gals
I Have previously installed a custom ROM on another device from scratch,
my questions here are:
1.Do I need to install an unbranded ROM first ?
2. Which One ?
I search on sammobile but there's not a single ROM that says "unbranded".
3. Can I use any ODIN to install any ROM ? or they are specific ?
Thanks in advance !
