I have also tried this rom: KingCobra_XL_Build9_By_S.a.M.e.R_d.zip

A simple search would help. Try flashing glitch kernel first, and it should work once you reboot into its recovery.

I've seen Jelly Bean in action and I liked the window animations, so decided to cook them in to the framework for SXL.
NOTE: This mod is for roms based on official ICS 2.31.401.2 RUU. First attachment is with % battery and the second one is with stock battery.

[Q]how to root htc sensation xl running android 4.0.3 OFFICIAL UPDATE
Alright so here's the deal I've got an unlocked sensation xl (using HTCdev) and now I want to root it can someone plz post a noob guide as to how to do it
You will need the root tool from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1625841 which will need putting on your sdcard because it needs flashing from recovery
Then you will need to flash recovery in fastboot from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1216504&d=1343047739
Once recovery is flashed, boot into recovery and flash the root tool from there and then reboot
Once rebooted go to app drawer and look for SuperSU open it and it should say it needs updating just click ok and it should update and thats it.....
Thanx I'll try it now

Oh and how exactly to I flash these things I know how to get into fastboot then what?

Read this carefully and you will be know how to flash it.
used the instruction in the Cyanogenmod wiki and I'm stock - i could install any rom - not cm10, 9.1 or 7.2. The error i get is this :
Code:
Installing update...
assert failed: getprop("ro.product.device") == galaxys" || getprop("ro.build.product") == "galaxys" ||
and so forth..
I tried installing it under Windows 7 at first, but zadig.exe crashed every time i tried enabling "List all devices", so i tried running it under Ubuntu - and the process worked. Yet, under CWM recovery - the installation failed.
:crying:
I guess your CWM is rather old. You can download the latest version at the Android Development thread or try something else like TWRP.

i would rather use what i know - which is CWM - could you link me with an updated version i could load to the phone the way it's written in Cyanogenmod wiki? (heimdall flash..)
thanks
I'm not really a CWM user and I'm using a Galaxy S Plus I9001. In the I9001 Development Thread, someone ported CWM and update it to be usable for the S Plus since CWM does not provide the recovery for S Plus users.
To be on the safe side, here's the link

If I try and update to the new ovation nightlies I will get an error in CWM recover. Something to the effect of "asset prop go", blah blah.
In order for me to successfully update, I need to delete the first lights from updater.script file:
assert(getprop("ro.product.device") == "ovation" || getprop("ro.build.product") == "ovation");
Any ideas, why I keep having to manually edit and update my nook?

It has to do with a bug in the new CWM. I think verygreen updated to fix it. Go to his CM11 thread. (I assume you mean CM11 since you said new nightlies).

That is the one that has the bug. Go to my HD/HD+ CWM thread linked in my signature and flash my 6036 version from item 5. But you may need to make a bootable CWM SD first since I don't think 6045 will flash the zip.
