Guys need your help buying xsp - Xperia SP Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi Guys ,
M thinking to buy XSP because now m frustrated with Xperia L forum(Very sorry to say that) only 1 or 2 ROMS to flash Lol
Please help me out with following point
1. FIRST OF ALL does this phone have any Bugs on Stock firmware any Software related Bug Like Multi-touch , bad touch screen response and other or any Hardware related bug ? There is only 2 reason which forcing me to throw my Xperia L to garbage are 1. Multi-touch bug & Worst touch screen response 2. No developer support.
2. How is the performance of device
3. CM 10.2 bugs (Other than Radio & Battery )
4. reCAF bugs Other than Radio & Battery yeah i dont care about useless Radio and i have portable charger so no issue with battery
5. What is better performance wise reCAF(Pure AOSP) or CM 10.2
6. Can i get some Screen shot of Antutu benchmark detail score please i want to see GPU score and CPU score and also Some screen shot of Quadrant scores
7. And one more thing about XSP it has hard reset button at back side and i want to noe that if i use that button continuously is it get easily damaged ? because i do weird stuff i.e Flash MODS , Flash Fonts other than stock , editing build.prop and more... which leads to bootloops and the only solution is HARD RESET BUTTON. If possible can any one provide zoomed screen shot of hard reset button i just want to see how it looks
Please help me out M getting my XSP next Saturday
Thank you very much
if i have further queries ill add them here because i dont want to waste my money this time like i did before when i bought Xperia L
Have a good day and sorry for BAD ENGLISH

The SP has the same problems has the L. I would buy the Z or ZL instead.
Every problem you had with the L is the same with the SP: The flimsy off button, no radio on CM, touch issues.
I think the SP may be faster and better built. I havent tested reCAF AOSP but on CM10.2 works great.

I don't know, but in my SP the touch problems aren't that bad. But sometimes it refuses to recognize my finger...but the bug is there

are u facing all mentioned issue in CM ROMS also ? I had used XSP sometime in mobile shop but i didnt find any touch related bugs but today i will try to do touch screen test in mobile shop if possible (hope they wont catch me doing weird stuff on there phones )
I still need ur reviews please help me out ppls , it wont take that much time to answer my all question

You are very demanding! CM will always be a resource hog due to trying to please everyone at the same time. It has unnecessary features and services running because it's difficult to separate the code in java / Android so you get an OS with all the Samsung / tablet / hacks for other devices.
It's why people are surprised with recaf, CM is better than stock, but recaf is even better than CM. I get 90% deep sleep on recaf, something you'll never see on CM.
It's a pity you have a bad experience with Xperia L, all the issues you mentioned are easily solvable. I was 95% committed to buying Xperia L when I changed my mind literally as I walked to the store to order it.

though a few ported tweaks from cm wont be such a bad thing would it.

You need to see this for yourself. A while ago i had exact the same questions as you (i come from samsung galaxy s plus) and i just made a choice. Either the S3 or the SP. I choose the SP because:
- Good specs (Same GPU as in Z )
- Awesome notification ledbar (this made the diffrence for me)
- Battery life is pretty good for me
- Features of it. Sony stuff, awesome music player.
There is just one bug that annoys me and that is the RAM managment of sony. I have no touchissues anymore, my wifi problem is has stopped (is was a router issue at my home :silly: )..
Get you bud to a store where you can see the device in reallife before buying it. I did this before i got this device..
Good luck mate

Thanks for your review
and yes i have checked(used) this phone in almost 10-15 mobiles stores this time i dont want to take any risk

i dont hav any multi touch issues in xperia l.bt many say they have.everything is great abt xperia l.bt vxperia sp is better coz it has better cpu and gpu and the screen also.overall sp is better bt L is also not bad.

At the end of the day, it really down to how much you can spend comfortably.
For me, the xperia-sp made senses specs-wise and finanically...the other more expensive xperia phones just didnt have enough specs to me to justify paying the higher costs for them.
I have had my x-sp for about 3 wks now and i really like it, its not perfect but i can live with the quirks

[Q] buy i9305 for 40$ more or stick with i9300?

Hi
I'm sorry if there are similar threads, I've tried the search function and could find some posts about the differences but my question is actually more about the experience...
I know the biggest differences is the 4G and the RAM
Now the 4G isn't that big of a deal for me because it's not yet available in my country thanks to our idiot politicians
The thing that interests me the most is the 2G RAM vs 1G RAM and the battery consumption
Is there anyone here who upgraded from 9300 to 9305 who can shed some light on this?
Does the extra RAM really makes a lot of difference? Is the 9305 worse in terms of battery life (taken into account that I would disable 4G for the time being if this is possible)
Thanks
B
AW: [Q] buy i9305 for 40$ more or stick with i9300?
2 Gb of RAM definitely make the difference. I have now 900 Mb free memory and when I used the I9300 I only had 100 Mb free memory. And battery consumption it's pretty the same by me. Just turn of 4G if you don't need it
Sent from my GT-I9305 using xda premium
Be avare that there are a lot more custom roms to the i9300, at the moment at least.
With the recent release of Liquid Smooth & the advancement of our CyanogenMod 10.1 I would say that the I9305 is doing quite well in AOSP roms now, I would spend $40 on a shirt so it is no-doubt worth the upgrade
Sent from my GT-I9305 using xda premium
Well it depends. The 2GB ram really makes quite a bit of difference but the downside for me at least is the lack of a decent number of roms.
There still are some pretty awesome TW roms like RipperRom and rXtreme, not to mention the 4.2.1/2 roms recently released. But the support and amount of development when it comes to roms is much lesser than the i9300.
I upgraded from i9300 (actually I still own it but it's my mess about phone now) and It's 10 times better than i9300!
The 2gb RAM makes a huge difference and the battery life is pretty much the same I would definitely spend an extra $40 on it.

I9305 4 Sure....
To me I have owned both... And the battery is the same.... The main difference is internet speed and Multitasking I can have 17-20 apps open and switch between them all and they open instantly I havent tried more apps then this... But i remember with the I9300 I can only get up to about 5 or 6 then when I switch between some they have to reload the entire app from the start again. So for $40 I woud not even think twice about it LOL its only $40 which is about 1-2hr of work at the average job.
And as for More roms, Yeh there is more roms but thats because there are more users, Whats the point of more roms when you only want to use 1 anyway.
And All you need in the rom is the Mods and tweaks that you like, And I can tell you this much I can have ANY mod the I9300 has. My rom Is full of features and I dont even need to change firmware anymore if I dont want to.
The main mods I can think off which i use are:
Aosp Lockscreen
Ink Effect sometimes
Long press Back button to kill
Hold volumes to skip
Enhanced Note2 Camera
Torch On lockscreen
Crt Off effect
Battery tweaks
Call record - for fun
Theming almost everypart of the phone...
Toggle mod
And much moree....
For ppl who like AOSP well

I can guarantee you there is more then enough development. The I9300 has actually got Too much development when I had my I9300 I Only tried I think 3-4 roms.. I think the I9305 has around 8 ROMS now to choose from .. Again more then enough.
But saying this either phone is good. But the I9305 is a little better. (Stronger)
I have an i9305
on hardware side there is no reason to stay on an i9300
BUT:
if i had the choice again I would buy an i9300 because there are much more roms on i9300.
I have a i9305
On the hardware front, the only thing I am missing is the FM Radio.
I have an i9305 and wish I didn't upgrade.
The custom ROM support just isn't good enough compared to the i9300. I was actually considering downgrading as I don't use 4G. Speed wise, the extra RAM doesn't really make much of a difference
One more difference seems to be that i9300 can only share hd-ready (720p) to the all share cast dongle. I9305 will do full hd. This is related to the more ram.

Hello i have the GT I9305 and 2 gb Ram is more faster ..
Definitely go for i9305, I had 9300 as company phone and recently got 9305, much better in terms of multitasking thanks to the bigger ram which makes a huge difference, no application reloading any more.
Also custom rom part we are catching up with cm 10 and liquidsmooth both good enough to be daily drive, and not to mention other tw based roms.
For only 40 bucks more, you won't regret at all I guarantee you.
Also not sure in us, but in uk you have this beautiful grey colour which is just... OMG I can't stop looking at my phone now!!!

You can't have FM radio if you got no hardware for it.
As for the better one, go for i9305 more ram, better battery is you use 3g, LTE support and go for i9300 if you want FM (as for custom roms, the i9300 has more but i9305 still have a few but good one and in time i don't think the support will be lower, look at i9001, i9003 or 9070 all still got support).

Since Storage Settings is mixed with USB Storage and the maintaince of covered space.
So i have included the following apss in the ROM
-Multi Mount Free: Use it as a widget .Just click it and USB Storage will be mounted.
-My Drives:Help to maintain your storages .Also acts like File manager.

is there a fm radio app spirit don't seem to work with our device.
original does so I always seem to go back to the vanilla rom to keep radio because where i am data is expensive 4 internet radio apps.
the music player is messud up and when i locked the phone rebooted.
hmm. how about you port only the PNG's or the necessary files.. . to make it bug free..
And how is this any different from mine?? If anything why didn't you just fix the bugs in my Rom, or make a completely different one to help widen the range of development for the Desire C, this was counter productive, the only difference is, your overselling the Rom whereas i'm laid back about it... This is one of the main reasons i'm stopping developing/supporting the Desire C, the device is alright, but the community that makes it is small, and illogical in the way they go about development. Good work anyways: if you want to continue going round in circles that is... *sigh* No wonder all development is so slow on this device, you all make duplicate Roms.
The thing is that i had been making this rom for a long time.
Before you published yours.
I had fixed profiles somehow so i kept prgressing it.
till the second last build adb was working but at the end after last changes i made and kept the final build.zip and deleted the earlier build:crying:

Good work anyways: if you want to continue going round in circles that is... *sigh* No wonder all development is so slow on this device, you all make duplicate Roms.

If aman here wants to make an xperia z ROM he bloody well is allowed to do so. Maybe its an idea for you to stop thinking everybody duplicates you and wants to be like you because you are great and fantastic. Leave him alone for once, will you?
PRoblems shall be settled
I think there is some sort of dispute between me and @penguin449.
TO clarify i shall tell you that i don't post any thing which has problems for daily use.
I has been working on this rom for very long .
Even before you even published.
Since SOny has to be done with libes.
It took me time.
ALso i posted thread 5 days later rom was uploaed cauz i felt some things must be fixed.
ADB WORKS WIRELSS LY( i am not shouting sory caps got one)
Just small bugs.
Can be fixed easily

I agree there are no rules, but you guys don't seem to understand the word progress. He can do what he wants, but i'm trying to drive the device forward and none of you seem to want that. You all want to get CM7? I'll fix some bugs with Mark but you all need to start acting like devs tbh, You think it's like this over pico?! NO Because they progress and look what they've achieved!

It is true we have too many duplicates. We need originalatility and if you have many ideas do all of them and the best one will work .why so you think I release hardly any roms. Because we already have loads and there all pretty similair and when I've finished cm7 I want all the roms in one thread without any duplicates as once theres a rom like aokp ported or built we don't need Amy more but the person has to keep it updated. Those are the rules of you want to port a cm7 rom. Or I'll only release it to a select nber of people god. Male something original.
Well then that was long. Nowy thba are aching. DNA should of used swipe

If this device is to move forward then devs need to support there ROMs more with updates and improvements post release. Too many ROMs here that have been forgotten by the dev after release, still on v1.

I agree with penguin over at pico if a ROM is popular everyone helps make it better and it gets updated, not copied with extras!
If people want cm7 why not?
But let's help with one version not 10.
Let's all work together!
Since I got this phone there have been huge advances let's try to recapture the momentum.

Benefits of Omni rom

hi guys i was just wondering if anyone could explain the benefits of Omni Rom?
I have switched continuously between stock and Omni, however i seem to always return to stock mainly because of the screen of death issue and blue screen issues that Omni has.
However, it would be nice to know what benefits Omni has and why i have that urge to always want to try Omni again!
Don't

I used for about a week, and i needed to open my mobile many times to unplug then replug the battery again to make my mobile come back to life, you will see many sudden restarts, and you will see many blue screens.

I think it is simply because either you love flashing and testing new things out or you love the simplicity and AOSP feel. I know I love it. Its also the fact that you've on the latest android version with is super "light" when compared to others. Its very snappy and can multitask like a bull compared to even the 4.3, and no massive themeing or bloatware. And not to forget the multitude of features and customizations you get with the ROM. I personally love the Active Display and I don't know how I lived without it. Anyway if you have the urge, like me, to switch between ROM, CWM backups are the best because setting up a ROM from the beginning is a pain. Another such person is moly82! He too flashes every release!

Haha WHAT? That's the most ridiculous thing I've heard. Yes you do see blue screens, but mostly one per day. And even then the phone reboots in under a minute and is back to normal as if nothing happened. Please re-flash and re-evaluate.

Excuse me!!
Are you serious??
Is it OK for you to have reboots more than five times a day and this is only for the daily use??!! I did not even try demanding games.
And do you know anything about the need to remove your (non-removable) battery and re-plug it??
Please, if you think my opinion is ridiculous, then give that rom a try, and then give me your own opinion.
I wonder how can you consider your mobile reliable anymore if it will reboot even during playing the silliest and tiniest games ever there.
After all, this is my opinion which you may not agree with, but you are supposed to respect.

Yes. You are certainly entitled to your opinion. Respect there. But not to mislead others, you just gave a very uniquely bad experience. Everyone else loves this ROM. I have been on it since the first week of its release. There are loads of other Omni users who will agree with me.
As for the battery removal, i cannot remove mine. Its an XT. Reboots do not occur five times a day, mostly twice! At least not for me. I listen to music constantly with JetAudio which is a heavy app, use Whatsapp all the time, browse with Chrome at least twice a day and many other things. I do not play games though... so I can't say anything about that.
Thank you for the concern guys but you still haven't answered my question what are the benefits of omni against stock???

I have had Omnirom since first tilals build and it was amazing. Since 4.4.2 it becomes more unstable and I sometimes have had more than one reboot. Using my phone as drivers log I really can't use random reboots. The sound is very low, a workaround makes it loud and whistle.
Now I am an stock and yes, it isn't the stable it should be, but there seems to be an update shortly. But stock rom is also very fast, fast enough I guess. A benefit stock rom has is usb otg, a feature I need, too and don't have with OmniRom or Cyanogen Rom.

Not true. I got 3 to 5 blue screens a day on omni. A few times a day my Xperia got stuck on a black screen. For both i had to do a hard reboot (power + volume).
The battery was very bad to for me. It was empty in 10 to 12 hours with 2 hours screen time. With 4.3 i get a day with the same screen on time. Also the camera on stock is a lot better
As long as Sony haven't released the source it's not gonna get much better.
Don't get me wrong. I normally prefer aosp above a stock rom. But this time 4.3 is a lot better.

Yes,the OTG and the HDMI don't work, but that are features that not all the people use, this is the best of ROMs, you can choose your best option depending of your needs.
Did you try the nighlties with the new branches?
I have tested stock and Omni feels faster,in my opinion.

Yes I have tested some homebuilds and after the new branches comes back to the nightlies I also have flashed these builds.
You are right, OmniRom feels faster than stock rom but I can't use the random reboots. I need the drivers log and every reboot is a showstopper I really don't need. A rom should be fast, yes, but it must be stable at all.
I have to say, there is nothing I really miss with stock rom, on the contrary.

Well I think there is no point in arguing about the blue screens because it must certainly depend on the amount usage and kind of usage. As for the battery life, I can get much better battery life.. about 2.5 hours screen time and can last overnight. It would be <14% though.

For modders Only bug rooms STOP

I know that build a rom it's not that easy, and make it stable and fully working it's even harder. I also know that drivers and blobs are closed-source, so it's hard to make a device fully working.
But I wanna give some advice, because who want to mod his phone finds about 30/40 roms all unstable and full of bugs.
In my opinion, it's useless to release a rom if it isn't finished, wifi or bluetooth doesn't work, apps force-close, phone reboots randomly or maybe drinks the battery in 2 hours.
Lags in games, the home screen lags with 3/4 widgets. Maybe after a clean install the rom performs well but then you discover that it's not so good.
Let's not forget also that despite the roms are not finished, many times they aren't update any more to solve the bugs, or they are updated but the bugs remain.
I don't mean that ALL the roms have ALL the bugs, but each rom has at least two of those problems.
Some people may say that there are hardware limits to justify the bugs. Or maybe that the battery has to be changed. But those are only excuses considering that on three pages of roms, ONLY one performs well.
I have always been told “you have to change the battery”, or “the phone has got few ram” to justify the bugs. But why with the FluidRom gType (an Italian rom) I manage 24 hours with a normal usage (mobile data always on, wifi, background apps, little playing with games, several calls, facebook and whatsapp)? No lags in games, home and browser. So I assume that “change the battery” and “we have few ram” are only excuses.
If you release a rom only to show that you are able to develop something but then it’s full of bugs, stop. Don’t release it. Or release it when it performs really well.
The 4X it’s a 2012 flagship phone, but the roms are badly developed. So let’s not blame the hardware.
Some people may say “who forces you to change rom?” People try new roms because modders promise improvements.
Maybe this topic will be closed to restrict freedom of speech. But mine are only suggestions.

Wow ! Never thought I'd read something like this on the 4X forum !
You're so wrong. So so wrong !
Do you realize that when a dev releases a ROM he does this on his time and (most of the time) he doesn't expect anything in return.
Have you ever tried to build a ROM from source ? To compile ? To fix bugs ? To spend hours developing ? I really doubt since you don't realize what this is and the time it takes.
Moreover, our device is "special". The last official update we had was 4.1.2 and thanks to the dev you criticized we are now at 4.4.2 !!! I'm not sure you realized the work of these devs.
Also you say that we don't have any stable ROM but you're wrong ! For me, "stable" means that you can use the ROM daily and profit of all basic and important features of the ROM therefore there ARE stable ROMs ! Since I'm in charge of Beanstalk 4.4.2 I won't give any name but for having personally tried many customs ROMs I can say that we do have stable ROMs.
Everybody has its opinion but man... You're wrong and some devs may understand your post as an offence.
I hope you see what I'm trying to explain.

whoa, easy there, mate...
First of all, I haven't seen an unstable ROM on our phones up till now. I am personally using CM (unofficial) and SlimKat as my daily drivers, and both are rock stable. The only bugs I have personally encountered are the camera (which is extremely hard to properly fix) and the broken reboot into recovery on Slim. And that's it.
All ROMs you find on xda are made for free, you don't need to pay anything, which means you also can't demand anything. Bringing a ROM to a device can take several hours (disregarding the time the pure download of the sourcecode takes), as every ROM needs its special treatment.
Furthermore, do you have any idea how long the pure compile process takes? On my new machine (which I upgraded for development only) needs ~75min for a clean build. Before that, my lappy was working over 8 hours for a clean build...
Saying we devs wouldn't maintain our ROMs isn't really nice, nor what XDA stands for. We do our best to provide you with the best/fully functional stuff, but there are things we can't fix/improve simply because we don't experience these issues. As an example, I am debugging my kernel ATM, and @FunkyRasta and I both run the kernel, however, FunkyRasta is experiencing lags, that I never experienced. So without his reports, I wouldn't even know about that until someone else might encounter it after the release.
@Serial67, nobody forces you to use "unstable" ROMs, but please don't just complain, but rather give some helpful feedback (logs) to help solve the issues. If you're not willing to provide such info (you don't have to), please don't complain.
Thread closed.

Android L Developer Preview

Hi, Can anyone port L developer preview for our phone Sony Xperia T??? Would be greatly appreciated!!
I think it's extremely difficult to do so. But of course I'd be as well very glad if we'd see a port of this for Xperia V. :good:
Problem is one most likely has to modify a lot of the kernel stuff.. The Nexus devices are all pretty similar in that point, yet still it took several weeks for a Nexus 4 port to appear.
(By the way, if one tries to port it, I recommend Nexus 4 preview port as a base, cause the resolution difference is not that big.
Haha, you're funny.
I don't think we wil get a good working custom rom for it.
Sent from my Xperia T using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Actually, noone was asking about custom roms. Thats a matter of the future (despite I am quite confident we will see a stable CM12)
So if youre not a dev willing to try and port it, stop being that pessimistic. Our devices aren't dead yet!

I guess someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed.
There will not be a dev L for the T and i doubt that someone will port it. Kitkat roms have still many bugs. (the blue flickering is still not 100% gone). So L will have more problems to, because a lack of drivers.
I'm not a pessimist but a realist. The T is dying (not that it ever was a live).
I have a T and i'm glad that i can get a new one in a few months.

The T is dying, yes, that's why I'm moving to a Xiomi Mi3, but this device can go on for almost two years more, I'm sure, it's a great phone with a pretty decent dev community behind

"Kitkat roms have still many bugs. (the blue flickering is still not 100% gone)."
That's one bug dude...and I've never come across it through all my experience with OmniROM. I've been following OmniROM development since the start, and after the flickerings were "fixed" by Lalit I've never come across them again. Plus, after the switch to the 4.3 kernel was made, there have been virtually zero bugs in OmniROM, and best of all, no reboots.
You say you're not a pessimist, but you're clearly being one. If the T was able to get Kitkat development going with drivers from Android 4.1, then I'm pretty sure someone will make an Android L ROM using drivers from 4.3. That is, as long as there still are devs for our device, which there definitely are. I'm still pretty hopeful that this phone has a ways to go yet before it's "dead." Just look at the Xperia Arc. That phone launched with Gingerbread (!) and is getting Kitkat ROMs today! There's no reason why the Xperia T shouldn't last at least as long.
And don't forget that there is still a possibility to get 4.4 drivers, it is small but it is there.
CM will Do it
I hope CM will do the update and the other dev will follow with up date

If the T was able to get Kitkat development going with drivers from Android 4.1, then I'm pretty sure someone will make an Android L ROM using drivers from 4.3. That is, as long as there still are devs for our device, which there definitely are. I'm still pretty hopeful that this phone has a ways to go yet before it's "dead." Just look at the Xperia Arc. That phone launched with Gingerbread (!) and is getting Kitkat ROMs today! There's no reason why the Xperia T shouldn't last at least as long.

The blue flickering is NOT gone. I have it multiple times a day. Can't even watch a movie or play a heavy game. Battery life is very bad for me on any 4.4 rom. Get 1and half hour screen time on 12 hours and then i have to charge. Sony stock 4.3 is full of bugs. Even my screen spontaneous broke when charging my phonr (i have never dropped it). So yes i'm very disappointed in the Xperia T.
I bought it when it came out for the full price and Sony pushed the T to the Side when they release the Z. So pardon me that i'm disappointed in the T (and Sony) after paying 500 euro's for it.
And please don't tell me that i have to buy another phone if i don't like it, because money doesn't grow on three's here.
And no i'm not a noob. I know my way with custom roms and kernels

All I'm saying is, you report a lot of problems that virtually no other people experience. Perhaps your T is defective or something dude, because I've never experienced any of the issues you talked about, and I've scarcely heard of others having those same problems either. I've NEVER had blue flickering on OmniROM since it was officially fixed, even while watching movies or playing games. The battery life has been great for me on any ROM, except obviously for when I'm on 3G data, because that hogs battery like a ***** no matter what you do and no matter what phone you're using. I've also never had any bugs on stock 4.3, and definitely no screen-breaking-while-charging incidents.
And there's no problem whatsoever being disappointed with the Xperia T and disliking it, but you should know that there are a lot of us who actually do like this phone and don't experience all the issues you do. You're certainly entitled to your opinion that the T is a piece of garbage and the worst phone you've had, but that doesn't make the rest of us wrong for liking the phone, and feeling optimistic about our chances at Android L.

You should get 2 - 3 hours screen time, depending what you are actually doing. Not playing "heavy" games, likely.
Even my screen spontaneous broke when charging my phonr (i have never dropped it).

Such kind of text disqualify an entire posting.
I was already thinking about this lately.
Because the Xperia T stock ROM was slow for me I looked for alternatives and found OMNIRom.
OMNIRom works fast and smooth. It is stable and NEVER rebooted or crashed since I use it. So i have faith in that community and lets wait several months and will see the direction and the possibility of Andorid L custom ROMs.
Still the more we use the same hardware the better for the environment. I am concerned about the scarcity of resources and the carbon emissions we cause by those number of devices produced per year. So much better to use the device full cycle before getting a new one...
