New Atrix HD Owner...

Great device. I don't mind MotoBlur at all. If AOKP (my fav) was available I don't know if I'd even use it. I have root and that's all I need. Tons of bad reviews and I don't get why yet. Screen is second to only the One X. I've had just about any and every of the top popular devices you can think of. I'm sure I'll be on to the Note 2 once ATT drops it too, but the Atrix HD is great at it's price point. The internal storage is the only downside. It's fast and snappy stock. IMHO Moto has passed up HTC (bloaty, but highly functional and experience changing) for the best stock experience. The clock/weather/battery widget is so useful, screenshots don't do it justice. It's more than just time, weather and battery. The ability to swipe up on messaging, phone and other icons and see a quick (don't know what to call it) status area is great. The hardware is fantastic. All i needed was a different camera app and all is good.
If Moto was more "mod" and had 16gb storage this device would be an XDA favorite easy!!!
edit: BTW most of all the device is beautiful
Couldnt have said it better myself. With the battery mod and camera fix options, this is an AWESOME phone

Agreed... I watched a play movie on this and i was blown away at the screen and how beautiful it is

CameraZoomFX Best 3.00 you'll spend in a long time!!
And correction this screen> The One X screen. I have both phones and the picture is more clear and sharp on the AHD. This screen is the same as the iPhone 5. Put them side by side like I did. They're both the same pixel, clarity and resolution wise. The AHD is the phone to have now.
Be sure to get:
64GB class 10 micro SD card
CameraZoomFX app
RazrMaxx battery
And don't look back
They're so cheap on eBay too, i was looking for a phone for a friend. He wanted to spend less than $250 on a phobe with a nice screen and decent specs... ATRIX HD was unbeatable for the price.

Anyone using Google Wallet?

Excited to get my Nexus on Monday, and I was just wondering if anyone that has their phone is using Google Wallet yet?
I have really been wanting to use Google Wallet but have been locked in with Verizon who backs ISIS and says **** you to Wallet.

I have several times since receiving my phone yesterday; works great. Also was a nice conversation starter with the cute cashier behind the register.
I wanna use it so badly. I work at Cvs and I've pretty much been bragging about it to my colleagues. Can't wait to show off Google wallet.

Awesome, Glad to hear that! Haha.
I'm looking forward to trying it out for the first time. Maybe I can impress my wife? Lol but probably not.
I'm pretty new to how to use it/where you can use it ... I assume wherever the "Pay Pass" type things are you can use it? Nothing proprietary?

I used it for the first time today since getting my phone 2 days ago. The cashier looked at me like I was crazy and kept telling me to swipe my card. I had to stall her until it printed out a receipt. It will definitely take some time to catch on!

That's funny. I would have just looked at them awkwardly until the receipt printed. Then silently walked away.

Yes you can select the one you would like to use at that point in time..... there is a " select card" button. And if you want to use another card you just hit that button again for that card
From what I've heard and seen, you can select which one to use when you open the app. Can't be 100% sure on that as I've never used it, but hopefully someone can confirm.

Pretty much anywhere that has a PayPass terminal. I say "pretty much anywhere" because even if they do have it, they might actually have it turned off. Best Buy is one such place that has the terminals but has it shut down (tried it in the past at 3 different locations with my Galaxy Nexus). I've read that it's supposedly because it costs them too much to operate, but who really knows.
Off the top of my head of places I've used it in that all work: CVS, Rite Aid, Duane Reade, McDonalds, 7-Eleven, and BJ's Wholesale Club.
To help you out even further, download the Mastercard PayPass Locator app. It'll bring up a list of locations near your current location that should have the terminals installed.

It honestly doesn't matter what you tell them. It'll process as whatever your selected card is, but if it's a debit card you won't have to put in your pin number. Tap, and go.

AT&T Optimus G to AHD?

Hey I just purchased the optimius g for att and am thinking about exchanging it for the ahd since it has jb now and its only a penny at best buy.. Just wondering if anybody else has switched and regretted it or are happy with their decision?
Sent from my LG-E970 using xda app-developers app
Haven't messed with the Optimus G. But the battery life on the AHD is superb with the EB40. Can't speak for everyone, but I've had absolutely no performance or battery issues with it. The lack of an unlocked bootloader kinda sucks but stock feels so clean. It's a matter of opinion.
Sent from my Jellybeaned Atrix HD MAXX
Optimus G is nexus 4 without the thermal issues. since you're considering the atrix hd I assume you don't care too much about roms, so that shouldn't be an issue.
in short, don't do it.
The Optimus G and Atrix HD share a common thread - development and the lack thereof. You won't see a plethora of hacks out there for them nor should you expect to. Go with the device that, for you, provides the most bang for your buck. The Atrix is crippled by low internal memory that cannot be fixed without rooting.
Atrix HD is a awesome device with lack of rom development, that is the only issue I have.
Thanks guys sorry I couldn't get back to anybody yesterday... I do like to flash ROMs but mainly to get to a stock like feel.. the ahd pretty much already has that for me.. I usually only have about a a gig of apps... even now with all my apps back on the phone... music and videos I still have 2gigs of internal memory left.. I liked the OG but I hated the Ui and the glass back cracking from temperature change was something I didn't want to deal with so I made the exchange. I would like root to get rid of the bloat instead of just disabling though.. is that achievable with jb yet? Other than that the only thing I plan on doing is the eb40 swap and I should be happy for now lol...

China's version of the ONE to have micro SD!?!?!?

Obviously for all of us with the device, micro SD wasn't a deal breaker but I definitely would have held out if HTC would have held off on the release to add SD for us.

32GB is enough. If 64GB models were available on Sprint, I would've gotten it, but probably would've never used it all.
But see the only reason I bought it was so I could transfer files easier haha, 32gb is enough for me. I just don't wanna get a cable every time I need to transfer a file

It will continue to be their flagship phone until the October-December time frame when they usually release their newer models. Remember that Larry Page recently visited LG where they proposed their ideas just like last year, because that's how the nexus program works. I don't expect Google to release a new flagship phone until the end of the year especially since they just discussed a deal.
Yay, it'll still be the newest nexus for months to come

I dont care much about the lack of SD card slot, but at least give us a 32gb model :fingers-crossed:
apparently...
Does it even matter if the Nexus 4 isn't the "newest" Nexus? It's more than powerful enough to handle many more Android versions to come, so at least we'll be updated.

It's a bit tough for those of us with large-ish music collections. Particularly if we rip at 320kbps bit rate. I'm constantly bumping against the limit. And I don't even have games on my N4. I'd gladly welcome a 32gb or 64gb variant of the next one.
Actually, I hope they stick with the "all glass" format. I think it's sexy.
Wireless charging orbs will not be for just one phone!!!!!!!!
Just hope they get that wireless charging car dock out soon.

Right because there are more and more service providers capping the data usage.

Unfortunately, that's why I had to give up my N4. I live and work out in the boonies and unless I can store it on my device, most of the time I don't have access to it.
And, since Google did come out with a 32 GB N7 and dropped the 8 GB model after a while, I'm hoping they do the same with the N4. If they do, I'll be blowing my money on an another N4.

T-Mobile is truly unlimited! So cloud is an option, or another option is don't buy phones with locked memory.
I went from a 32GB SD in my doubleshot to an 8GB N4, I stream all my music from google with no need for any more memory to fill with useless junk.

Cloud is not always an option. To be honest it makes listening to music annoying at best. Mainly if you live in a place where your data bounces in and out. As for unlimited T-mobile they still throttle you at a point so still not a viable option. Also cloud storage is still not accepted in alot of business so having a good amount of internal storage is a good thing.
We will not see an SD card slot until the average person get smarter. So dont count on it anytime soon
Semantics said:
Reality is simple, cloud storage is where we are all being steered toward. If you can't embrace it, or afford one of the cheap unlimited data packages offered, do yourself and everyone else a favor and buy a 64gb ipod. It floors me that people still feel the need to have 30 gigs of music on their phone.
Click to collapse
Why give up on convenience? it just requires a lot more work to delete and add the music you want to listen to today. Also, it's not only for music. People store games, applications, photos, videos etc on their phones too and 16/32 GB can be filled pretty fast with that stuff.
Sure, some things are "moving to the cloud", which doesn't mean that every new trend that's emerging somewhere is good. The "cloud" has way too many flaws to be considered an alternative to any kind of local storage.
First and foremost, there are a lot of privacy concerns.
Are you really going to confide all your private stuff to some company that is most likely based in another country where you have no or hardly any control about what really happens with all your data? Also, most companies are going to hand out information about you to governments without questioning it.
Furthermore, what happens if such company gets hacked? All your intimate stuff will be exposed to potentially malicious people.
Then, there can be loads of problems when you're trying to access your data.
What if your home internet goes down? Or you are in an area with no or only a slow connection? Maybe the host's website is inaccessible? Right, no access to your stuff.
The cloud is way to dependent on 3rd parties and other effects you have no control of. While everyone tries to increase their data's security and accessibility, the cloud is an enormous step backwards.
Last but not least, what if the cloud provider goes out of business or gets shut down by law enforcement like Megaupload did some time ago? Thousands of legitimate users lost all the stuff they entrusted to Megaupload and there is no way for them to get it back any time soon.
tl;dr: Don't blindly follow some obscure trend just because the media or anybody else tells you to.
I don't see a inconvenience, the cloud is a new technology, don't get stuck in the past. As for music and work I have no problems
