Well, I flashed alfs 09c kernel and then installed GingerDx v031b on one my relatives' X8 a month ago. But then I kept having bootloops. So then I flashed alfs 08a over the previous kernel. It seemed to work, but then it started to lag alot and an error msg related to google play service kept popping up. And soon I realized that I couldn't even overclock it as the OS froze every time I overclocked it. I'm using the nAa 11 kernel right now and it seems better than the previous kernels I flashed, but I still get issues if i overclock it. I flashed the nAa 13 and nAa 14 kernel couple of days ago, but the wifi didn't work so i went back to nAa 11. I almost forgot to mention that I've installed cronmod's int2ext+ script and increased the internal memory.
So is it the rom that's been causing all these problems? From what I heard, GDX is the smoothest rom for X8. So what is causing all these problems? I can't overclock and the kernels that people claim to be the best for this device doesn't seem to work properly. So please, could anyone end this misery?
Any kind of help would be appreciated.

Guys, I am new to this forum and I start playing around with custom kernels and roms for my X8 these days. In major, I stick with MiniCM7 and 2 great kernels, nAa-11 and Alfs-8 and both of them are great! Thanks to nobodyAtall, alfsamsung and also djnilse. Now I got a dilemma when finalizing...
The performance of Alfs-8 for MiniCM7 is great but it has a tiny little issue, which cannot "screen off" when making a call. (this is due to CM7, not Alfs-8 in fact) You have to be very careful not to touch the screen or you might cut the phone call... or something unexpected.
nAa-11 is very stable with everything's OK (of coz nAa fixes screen-off issue of CM7). This is my kick-start kernel when setting mod rom on my x8, it is just greatly stable with all functions there!
I should post this onto alfsamsung and djnilse's thread tho I am still restricted by the 10 post rule.. Anyway, what's your choice and recommendation?
Anyway, what's your choice and recommendation?
nAa 11 with Xperience v5.0 deodexed
Antutu 2.6 Score 1999 @ 748 Mhz
Have fun,
CtrlAltDel
naa 11
after alfs 7 ics
I would say nAa 11 and minicm 2.1.9

Did you flash the addon for GDX???
Hi everyone,
I was using GingerDX for 2 months on stock kernel, and it was really slow. Apps launched slowly (took 3-4 seconds at least), when i pulled down the statusbar it was very laggy, animations were laggy etc. I had only 40-50 MB free RAM even when i closed every running apps and unnecessary services, and it restarted the launcher everytime i pressed the home button. So the whole ROM was very slow (I even overclocked it to 710 MHz).
Yesterday I installed the stock 2.1 ROM and it is freaking smooth compared to GDX, no lag, launcher doesn't restart, I have around 80 MB free RAM when nothing is running, and it goes down to 50 MB when i run 3 foreground apps and more background apps at the same time, and touch is way more responsible. I didn't even overclock it.
I haven't tried any other custom ROM. Is GingerDX really that slow? I don't believe, because it is very popular. So what is the reason it runs way slower than 2.1? Maybe because I have stock kernel? I really want to use this ROM since it has so many features.

I beg to disagree. GDX is popular because it is a very good ROM. Please do try fullwipe, then flash the ROM as instructed in GDX first page.
Thanks for the welcome
I have already full wiped and reinstalled the ROM about 5 times, used all versions from v021 and it didn't get any smoother.

Hi,
For now, I´ll just ask you to give us some more information. Could you post what do you use on your phone?? Even in stock kernel I´ve never felt laggy on GingerDX.
With fresh install, what did you change? Undervolt? OC? I remember that ppl had issues on Stock Kernel and GingerDX running with OC module from doixahn. Try to see if the Rom you are using is undervolted or not.
Will you try it on Custom Kernel?
BTW, which laucher are you using on it?
I flashed doixanh's OC module and it seems i used the Undervolt too because it is integrated into the ROM. I can't flash a custom kernel because my phone's manufacturing date is 11W48 so it would be a brick. I'm using GO Launcher EX.
No we mean the step you do. What are the step you do and setting you do to your phone?
try removing the OC and UV modules, and I suggest you to use Laucher Pro, it seems to be smother than other lauchers I ever tried.
To remove both OC and UV just open a root File Explorer (ES File Explorer has root access), go to /system/lib/modules and delet x8oc.ko and x8uv.ko if I´m not wrong. Them you test the rom again and see if you get better performance
It seems to be a bit faster now, I'm not sure yet
I got some free RAM with RAM Manager Pro, now i have the same as on stock ROM.
Well...I didn´t use any app to kill process or manage RAM on my phone, and It is smooth enough for me without OC . I´m using MiniCM right now, but it was the same on GingerDX
It seems to be smooth now, thanks for the help
You´re welcome bro. That is why me and other ppl is here
Fullwiping
I dont agree. I run v025, stock kernel, and i dont flash the overclock modules. It runs fast and smooth. Maybe u installed too much apps, widgets and kind
thanks for the thanks......

I found GDx (stock) a bit slow too
I dunno why.
That made me switch to PrimeHD.
That's very fast
And the magic is: when i sleep, i turned off data, wifi etc and my battery level doesnt change a single percent. 25 % when i go to sleep, and still 25 % when i wake.
thanks for the thanks......

Hi all,
yesterday I rooted and unlocked bootloader of my x8. The I flashed nAa kernel for MiniCM7 (E15_nAa-14_2.6.29.6-nAa-14.ftf) with flashtool. When I rebooted it, it doesn't show anything: the screen is black and nAa logo doesn't appear.
I tried also nAa kernel for MiniCM9 and for MiniCM10, but the issue persist.
With Alfs kernel I have not problem. Now I'm on GingerDX, but I would try MiniCM
Please help me
be sure you have memory card on naa kernel....so it will boot up

Make sure your battery is over 15-20% and check your SD Card if it's inserted correctly.

should be more closely at his friend for how to install that does not happen any unwanted
I'm using alfs kernel v09c with minicm7 2.2.2 (installed update and also libsensor patch) I wanted to ask why the proximity sensor suddenly stopped working? It was working fine yesterday. This is what happens :
1. I have enabled press power button to end call. When I do this during call before other person cuts it, the screen goes black and doesnt start .phone has to be restarted after taking out battery
2. When I make a call, the screen automatically goes off even if I don't put to my ear. If I press the menu button its back. But then problem one takes place again.
I have been facing this since a day. I installed setcpu to save battery during screen off. But it caused this problem before also so I uninstalled it. but this problem is still there. any solutions? is setcpu causing this? even after uninstall. Should I reset my phone?
thanks
haven't tried running minicm 2.2.2 on alf's kernel. but try using naa's unified kernel and see if the problem arises. afaik the latest minicm 7 was made/modded to work on the unified kernel. not alf's. i just can't say if the issues are because of the kernel or not.

It worked fine on both the unified kernel and nAa 14 kernel. Only Alfs v09c giving problems. Switched to nAa 14 kernel with primehd 10.0 . Everything works and has great battery life
