[Q] Xperia T not installing Custom Rom? - Sony Xperia T, TL, TX, V

Hi,
So I have a Xperia T lt30p and I am trying to get a Custom Rom installed onto it. The current version is Jelly Bean 4.1.2. The roms I have tried are Hybrid, Cyanogenmod 10.1.2 4.2.2 and the new Omni 4.2.2 kitkat rom. I go into recovery (clockworksmods) and wipe data/factory, cache, and dalvik cache and then I go into install zip from sd card. I first click on the rom which says "Completed Successfully" and then I install the Google Apps which also say "Completed successfully". However when I click "Reboot system now" all I get is a black screen!? I waited 5 minutes and then realised nothing was going to happen so I pressed the power button and the phone VIBRATES but still nothing on the screen, then try again and it just vibrates again? Why is it doing this? I know how to get it back up and running again which I used pc companion for but I do not understand why the roms are not installing!? Can someone tell me how to fix this and provide me with a custom rom they have used which works for the Xperia T. I am really bored with the JB 4.1.2 and would like to move a step ahead!
Thank You
Please reply ASAP!!!! :'(

Unlock your bootloader and read the requirements/instructions in the OP of the ROMs you are trying to flash.

Hi, Thank you for the reply back. I have tried unlocking the bootloader but it all turns into a mess. Could you give a step by step on how to unlock the bootloader on a Xperia T? I would be thankful, I have already checked if I am able to unlock the bootloader and yes I am, I just do not know how!!
Thanks!

Re: Wipes - Isn't it also a good idea to include /system as part of your wipes when installing a fresh new rom from CWM? (So wipe 1) Data 2) Cache 3) Dalvik cache 4) /system) ?

When I was trying to install a Custom Rom, I was following a video and a step by step guide and it did not mention to wipe the system so I didn't do it but I guess you could go ahead with it? Shouldn't harm the phone.

what nightlies did you use to flash your phone? as there have been some problem for xperia t, v to boot correctly for cyanogenmod rom prior to 20131105 if i remember correctly. also, no matter what rom you flash if it is related to cyanogen then it will carry the same problem, as they use the same source to build the rom.

What was wrong ? Mini CM9 on Xperia X8

Hi everybody,
I tried yesterday to flash my phone with the new mini CM9 + nAa 04 kernel... It did not work resulting in a soft brick.
I solved this problem by flashing back to the stock rom + kernel using flashtool. My device is now working as before.
After many unfruitful research on the forum, i'm forced to ask you what wrong did I do...
My phone was (and is) configured as follow :
Kernel : stock 2.6.2.9
Rom : Android 2.1
Base Band Version : M76XX-TSNCJOLYM-53404015
Built : 2.1.1.C.0.0
Rooted
Bootloader : unlocked
Today I installed xRecovery (which is not needed if I use the Kernel E15_nAa-ics-04_2.6.29.6-nAa-ics-04).
Is it problematic if I want to use the mini CM9 rom ?
How did I do :
I started by flashing the kernel using flashtool and with the latest version kernel E15_nAa-ics-04_2.6.29.6-nAa-ics-04.
The manipulation was successful and kernel was working well.
Then, after having backed up all my settings, apps, contacts, rom and wiped off the data factory settings, I started to flash the rom with CWM (the rom had been stored before on my SD card).
Once the installation finished, the phone reboot... and reboot .... and reboot, etc...
It was only able to display the nAa kernel screen (boot loop), but nothing more.
Finally, I flashed it back to stock version to use it again... OUff
I was a bit scared by the idea of having a hard brick but finally it was just a soft brick.
What do you think about my experience ? I know many of you think that people who do not have necessary skills to do it should not do it ^^ but I want to learn and to make my phone a bit more flexible and fast.
Thank you in advance !

Your hardware and software seems alright to me.
Steps: Don't bother about xRecovery. From stock 2.1...
Root again
Flash nAa-ics kernel
Install MiniCM9 and Gapps from first post of MiniCM9 thread
FULL WIPE -- YOU MUST DO THIS
WIPE DALVIK-CACHE TOO
Reboot and have fun

Hi,
Thanks for your replies.
So I don't understand what was wrong as I completely wiped the system prior to flash the Rom.
I proceeded exactly like that :
1.Wipe data factory
2.Wipe cache
3.Wipe dalvik-cache
4.Format system
5.Format cache
6.Format data
7.Rom installation
8.Flash Gapps
I think I have done all the necessary steps to make it working ...
I was maybe not enough patient after installation ?
I'm going to try again today (now I know how to recover from a soft brick ).
Thank you all again.

sounds like a kernel issue.
Code:
Locked bootloader
1. Root with Bin4ry's method(*)
2. install CWM for locked bootloaders.(*)
3. Go to recovery, wipe cache & dalvik-cache
4. Flash ROM
5. Flash kernel .140 (if you haven't already)

7. When CWM asks "ROM may flash stock recovery on boot. Fix?", answer "No".
8. Enjoy
(*) skip these steps if you're already on a custom ROM with CWM recovery or unlocked bootlader.

This one..., im just connecting xperia t with usb debugg ,and via PC click install.bat ,something wrong?
That should be fine.
Next try this.
Flash it again, but this time goto
mouts and storage and make sure you mount system first, then flash it...
EDIT:
Just a thought, after flashing the rom are you wiping system as well as dalvik and cache...if so then D'OH, don't wipe system, that deletes the rom you just installed
after flashing rom? i dont wipe anything , just before flashing
ok

goto the section that says

it still nothing... just vibrating

yeah, but i think its not .zip problem... I had the same problem with CM 10 ... Maybe I just cant install other roms on my xperia T from orange with blocked bot etc...
You cant install custom kernels but you should be able to install stock based roms.
Are you trying to install a kernel? If so then dont.
Repair in pccompanion, root, install cmw recovery and flash rom.
It should work, if not try a different rom that is stock based

I'll be grateful if u can show me rom which can work on my XPERIA T , I'm not experienced enough to choose stock or not ,sorry for problems..
And if u can say, how i can get flashtool? I will try this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2026885
I have got EMMA but its not avaible for me...
Of coyrse you cant use emma. If you read the instructions its for unlocked bootloaders.
In order to get flashtool just look in the dev section for it.
To decide if a rom is stock based, read the op of the roms thread, it will say what it is based on there.
You should be able to flash my rom if you follow the instructions properly

[Q] XZ does not boot anymore after CM 10.1

Hi!
I just got a Xperia Z from a friend who try to install CM 10.1.
Apparently the bootloader is unlocked, CWM installed. And after the installation of CM, the device does not boot. Sony logo appears after a press on the start button and it turns down instantly.
What did I already try:
- Flash of two official roms with flashtool. The process stops after the progression bar is one fourth filled but nothing tells that the processus failed. But same issue always here, does not boot.
- Re-locked the bootloader with BLU (flashtool) to restore the phone with using Sony updater service : I have an error : "No loader found on this device".
Need your help please
Have you made a factory reset and cache delete before flashing CM? I make this mistake often but with flashtool I can always install back the stock rom.

I'm pretty sure he did a wipe data and wipe cache before the installation.
Flashtool does not repair my phone after a flash of the stock rom, do not know why..
What can I do ?
Do some research about how fastboot works to flash the official XZ kernel through fastboot

This is called a bootloop. All you need to do is press VOL UP + POWER, then connect your phone to your computer in flashmode (connect USB while holding VOL DOWN button) and flash .534 using Flashtool
Yep, just Hold Volume Down, connect to PC and flash a Stock FTF.

No just go into recovery, flash the monxdified rom zip and then clear cache and dalvik. I have done the same thing and it works perfectly fine. You can flash any 4.3 rom in this way, as you are on the same firmware.

Monxdified, iHackers and all stock based roms don't need a custom kernel (that's why you don't need to be bootloader unlocked to use them)
Just go into your recovery flash the zip. After the zip is flashed you will get an option to clear dalvik and cache.
It is always recommended to do a factory reset before flashing a custom rom, as it might misbehave. You can however try it without factory reset and then if you see that it doesn't work properly just do a factory reset and flash the rom zip again.

[Q] Installing cm 7 or unlock bootloader and install cm 10?

Sony ericsson xperia x8 11W43 e15i firmware version: 2.1 update 1 kernel version: 2.6.29 build number: 2.1.1.C.0.0.
I want to install cm 7 or better 10 on my phone. I know cm 10 requires that the bootloader is unlocked, which it is not.
It has turned out to be a very difficult task and I have not succeeded.
Another user on this forum has made a big effort to get cm on my phone. That is why I know how to root the phone and set usb debugging and allow other software sources.
I have got this software at hand
s1tool, gingerdx v0.31, X8_E15_2.1.1.C.0.0_generic.ftf, cwm.
Furthermore I have been using recoverx from google play.
Nothing worked. Gingerdx never starts, I have tried to let the phone boot for 20 minutes several times.
I also tried the paid wotanserver dot com option in order to get the phone's bootloader unlocked. That also failed, because when I ran the wontanserver software on a windows 7 hp computer, I could not login to wotanserver and execute the bootloader unlocking. Wotanserver could not provide further instructions, and I got a refund.
I am informed about the 11w36 issue, that is why I have not tried to unlock the bootloader using s1tool. If there if new information about how to unlock the bootloader I would very much like to get it?
If you know a working 10usd paid option to unlock the bootloader, please tell me?
I have also in parts read posts about testpoints to unlock the bootloader, but no post has come to a conclusion whether it can be done?
Failing can be related to me not installing correctly or there is some error about the phone.

No difference. Maybe what you saw wasn't for the x8, but for x10/x10 mini.
unlock bootloader is better option and instal cm 7 with nAa14 kernel for better performance.
Cyanogenmod 10 have worst performance than Cyanogenmod 7.2.
If you want play games on X8.

You are right but that not the case as he can't unlock his bootloader.
Thank you for answering.
This is what I have done about ten times.
Set and marked usb debugging and other software sources.
Rooted the phone using s1tool.
Installed cwm using recoverx from google play, or a cwm file.
Flashing gingerdx from sd card using cwm.
Reboot.
Everytime the phone gets stuck in boot mode. Then I have to flash X8_E15_2.1.1.C.0.0_generic.ftf_FILES in order to get a working phone.
You ask me to do a factory reset after I have flashed the phone into working order again?
The part about wipe Dalvik cache I do not get. Is that something I do on android 2.1?
When I boot into cwm, which can take several tries, there is a wipe option, do you ask me to select that option before flashing ginger dx?
I get if recoverx worked like it should do, flashing the phone would be a small task.
On this forum in some posts there has been some efforts to testpoints unlock the xperia x8's bootloader. To my knowledge, they did not come to a conclusion.
