I have a brand new moto x. Two days out of the box. I just set up google now and hear a popping sound whenever I lock or unlock the phone. Kind of what you hear when plug in a guitar to an amp that is powered up (only not that loud lol). Has anyone else had this issue? Any guidance on getting rid of it?
Thanks in advance
Not sure if this is what you're looking for, but under settings ,sound, there is a box to check for lock sound.

Hey everyone, I just recently made the switch to the Moto X and I love it. One of my favorite features is definitely touchless control. Unless I'm mistaken it's only supposed to respond to my voice yet after several attempts to train it to my voice it will still respond to other people's voice and even sometimes to ambient noise such as the TV.
Strange thing is a coworker of mine also has a Moto X, (it responds to his voice almost every time) yet his voice won't respond to me. Anyone else getting this issue? It's certainly not make or break but it's kinda annoying.

Does it do it very often? Did you train the phone in a quiet room? Mine does it every once in a while but not often at all. I trained it with no ambient noise. Very rarely will someone else make it wake up but I read if you train it in a loud room or once with a lot of ambient noise, you may have a problem.
My Moto X at first was perfect.. then i wiped it clean after i upgraded to 4.4 and re-trained my voice. and then it started picking up everyone elses voices and recognizing them as commands as well. I locked myself in the closet and retrained my voice a couple of times. now it's perfect once again. give that a try!

I'm trying to listen to music with headphones and the volume is set to the lowest setting, but it's still too loud. I've used a bunch of android phone and just switched from the HTC One. I've never had a phone where the minimum headphone volume is so loud. I'm on my second Moto X, so I'm thinking this is just the way this phone works.
Does anyone know of a way to lower the volume even more?

Xpose framework has a module called Xvolume which gives the moto 45 steps to increasing or decreasing music volume

Thanks for the reply. It looks like I'd have to root my phone to use xpose framework. Other then this volume issue, I like the Moto X exactly the way it is and would like to avoid voiding my warranty. There is no other solution without requiring rooting?

It's because your headphone/earbuds have low impedance (ohms rating, aka resistance). You have to buy a headphone with higher ohms rating. You're probably using an earbud with 16ohms, so try something with 32ohms or even 64ohms. Although its not going to be easy to find 64ohms and likely they are all fullsize cans, and those tends to need headphone amplifier to sound great.
The best method is to root. You aren't the only one annoyed by the 15 steps volume.
Well, I've had my moto X for a while now and I've always wondered why my Google Now is so quiet when my cell phone is in vibrate mode.
Have already tried unlinking system sounds, but it just doesn't work.
I'm trying to find a solution, if any of you guys could help it will be really apreciated, as it seems I'm not the only one with this issue (which bothers me a lot).

One way to do it is to turn your volume to the max, then hold down the power button and select silent/vibrate. This seems to leave Google Now Voice at the max volume.
It might be lost after reboot though.
Not a great solution I know, but something that someone suggested before.
Perhaps someone else will have something better.
Hi everyone. While on a call I can barely hear the other person no matter what I do. I turn the call volume all the way up and the sound stays the same. Otherwise this phone works great, Should I take it back to verizon?
I'm having the same problem, have to move my ear around to hear and the fact that my battery goes from 4% to 90% in 1 min and now charges when it wants to .... So I'll go back to my lg g3

I just got the phone today and have same issue, other than that phone is great. Have you found a solution or did you exchange it?

after some time I got use to it. I think its the covering on the top speaker that makes the volume so low. After re positioning my ear I can hear it well enough but I still wish it was a bit louder.
That being said, I find no fault in this phone, its gorgeous and really fast and comes with no frills android experience so I decided to stick it out
Hi all, Someone have this problem?
I'm facing this 'no sound in call, only speaker call/earphone works' issue.
Even for media playback there is no sound in loudspeaker mode(Mx player, Youtube app,radio..) but earphones work.
So I'm trying to factory reset it won't work.
Thanks in advance for any help / advice you can off!

Wow, l am Nexus 5 owner and I have exactly the same fault. No fix as yet on the nexus. Was thinking about the moto x and came to check what issues the phone has. I suspect this is a universal android bug. I have done some googling and found at least half a dozen phones with this issue. It's like a virus.
Sometimes this can be caused by a defective headphone plug, tricking the phone into thinking something is plugged in when it's not.
