Two Q's - Sprint HTC One (M7)

Q1 Why do certain Roms drain battery faster? For example I get 5hrs sometimes 6 screen on time with CM 10.1 or 10.2. But on sense I be lucky to get 4hrs. What's eating the battery, why does the kernel eat it if that's what's causing it.
Q2 why does the camera on Cyanogenmod not take in as much light? It has this reddish purplish tent. While Sense Roms are clearer?

Battery life

Ok so I am compairing this to stock vs cyanogen 6 RC3. I have seen better battery life on stock then I am on cyanigen 6. I don't know what is eating away at my phones battery. I have a task killer but who knows if it is doing its job. Any tips or suggestions I'm all ears

I get better battery life with cm6 rc3. Make sure it's not some bad coded application that's eating away your battery.
My battery life sucks with CM6-RC3. Stock was much better. I'm trying to figure out what bad app I have installed that's eating away at my battery.

Is this normal battery drain?

Hey guys I get good battery when the screen is off. But whenever I use it, it seems like it drops pretty rapidly.
What do you think?

Depends on what you did during that period.. If the processor was running at MAX frequency the entire time, yes thus might be normal.. Also as I notice from the screenshot, the screen is always in in that time frame.. So you deduce from this

No. It's broken. You should send it to me.
Hi,
Thats an abnormal drain. Try restarting your phone and seeing if the problem persists. Also note that the ROM you are using is still under testing and not a finished product so might experience some difficulties. Consider shifting to a more stable ROM if problem persists.
Having said that, battery drain will depend quite a lot on what apps you have running in the background and your settings.
Best way to analyse the situation is by installing an app called 'Better battery stats'. Its by a XDA member and if i'm not mistaken he offers it on XDA as free download. Try to see what is causing partial wakelocks and kernel wakelocks (your phone should be on deep sleep mode for the majority of time). Try to see what MHz is your processor running at (it shouldnt be in the 1400 range for too long unless you are playing some heavy duty games)
Also try to search for threads on 'wakelocks' on XDA to get more details on this subject.
I have experienced close to 10% drop in 1.5 hr in stock ROMs and around 15% in five hours on CleanNote ROM in idle states with lots of background apps disabled.

JB rom without battery drain anyone?

I really love JB, but battery drain on every one i tested is unacceptable (i.e. 30% loss or more overnight). On gb with THE SAME modem - 2%.
In result i always go back to GB immidiately, even if I hate it.
The only good rom besides GB i've had was some old Slim ICS version... Was lasting long as GB.
So, does anyone can point me to the JB rom with no crazy battery drain?
I've even bought new original samsung battery (1650mah), but still with my usage phone lasts half day.

adjust cpu governors .... u have to try every ROM available.... at least one of the ROM will give better battery life.....
@up
it's not that. idle killing battery isn't governor related
well, MesoROM is great gb rom, but ffs, android 2.3 is so ugly and feels like an awkward beta version... damn

I am on Slimbean JB Beta 1, and when it is in standby ( without wifi or 3G ) the battery drain is very low, less than 1% in 6 hours.
But as for Slimbean or any other JB roms I tried, the battery drain very fast when I use the 3G.

i'll try mentioned above. slim bean based on 3.1 was one of the worse in terms of battery though

I'm on CM 10.1 and battery drain is acceptable (about 1.5 days) with quite heavy usage. But it's only possible with:
* network switched to 2G only most of a day
* Google backup and restore disabled (using TB only)
* location services switched off or at least with GPS disabled
* WiFi turned off when not at home (using lama to do automate it).
Try these if you do not need them on all the time and see if your battery lasts longer.

[Q] High battery drain in games

Hi,
i have Galaxy S+ (i9001) with CM10 from ivendor and 10.6 kernel by CastagnaIT. When i'm using my phone only for calling, texting and wifi everything works fine, CPUspy shows that deep sleep is working correctly. But in games even like angry birds or vector my battery from 90% drains to 0 (phone shutdown) in about 8-10 minutes of playing! I tried another kernels like Nexus kernel, phenom etc, but that doesn't solved the problem. What can i do? It's really annoying :< thanks
AW: [Q] High battery drain in games
Are you using OC or voltage tweaks?
Maybe you need a other battery to test.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda premium
No, im not using any tweaks. It's really strange that in simple games battery drains so fast, but when im using my phone for texting and calls everything is fine.
AW: [Q] High battery drain in games
You tried another rom yet? Maybe it is a Rom issue.

Odp: [Q] High battery drain in games
Yeah, i tried CM, Slimbean, Jellytime but same problem here. Even when i'm using navigation my battery drains so fast. After 10 minutes everything seems to be good, but phone turn off without any warning and when i turn it on, battery is empty.
Sent from my GT-I9001 using xda app-developers app
Vector is an absolute battery hog. Some people mentioned that it's running all the graphics work through the CPU instead of the GPU, which might be why.
Odp: [Q] High battery drain in games
I tried other games like skater boy or angry birds and after 5 minutes of playing phone turns off and when i turn it on battery is completely empty i think i should take it to samsung

Best ROM for battery life w/o sacrificing stability and performance

Stock ROM and arrrrghh's kernel. I drain the battery a lot, but it lasts me 10h oc'd to 1.8

I've haven't tried any other custom roms beside CM 10.1.3 stable: no bloatware, better than stock battery life, and tons of customization. I wouldn't want to try anything else.
Update#1: I've been experiencing frequent reboots through out the day. Seems to happen randomly or before and after being plug in to charge.
Update#2: Too many crashes/reboots on the CM10.1.3 stable. I couldn't take it anymore so I flash CM10.2..latest nightly. Amazing! No reboots, far stable than 10.1. Gonna stick with 10.2 for a week or two then try custom roms as ProBam and Carbon.
Update#3: So 10.2 does crash and restarts. It will happen while it is plugged in "Charging". GAPPS would crash i noticed. wth
HoloBlur, Carbon, or CyanogenMod hands down.

4.2 ROMs (especially AOKP): +++battery, -stability.
4.3 ROMs (LiquidSmooth 2.10, Carbon): -battery, +stability.
There is no golden middle choice. However, 4.3 roms provide much more features and the battery life is compared to stock (but still worse), so, not a bad choice to try.
Tried all everything you guys have said and I've come to the conclusion that either my battery is defective or this phone just sucks when it comes to battery life regardless or ROM or kernel. Thanks anyways

What kind of Battery life are you getting? I get anywhere from 6-8 hours with heavy use to 16 hours with light use... Stock battery btw
One time I was playing gangstar Vegas on medium settings with lowest brightness for like 30min and the battery went all the way down to 25%. I started out with 100%. Also even on standby the battery goes down like 15% with WiFi and everything off and airplane mode on. I just don't get it. It pisses me off. The battery lasts me like let's say 8hrs with VERY VERY low usage. Like I'm talking like only maybe 25-50min screen time at like 25 percent brightness.

Sounds like you need the MAXX battery mod. My battery will last in excess of 30 hours on one charge. The battery isn't that cheap, but imo, it was totally worth it.

Best Rom
in my opinion, holoblur 0.9 tuned edition or x 0.9 Pure performance edition, are the most stable and less battery consumption, the other roms left out of the ADH standard features like HDMI mirror. The other functions that handle the other ROMS are esthetic and user support that we like to be playing with our phones giving better appearance.
Hey guys. So went back to stock 4.1.1 and its been great. I'm using the stock kernel. I'll get the maxx battery soon or on black Friday but overall in terms of battery life, stock has it.

So you're not running rocking the "HoloBlur-X ROM PurePerformanceâ„¢ Edition" anymore?
There is no best ROM/Kernel, try them all and see which "best" suits you.
