3G (H, H+) battery drain - LG Optimus 4X HD

Hi,
I'm using the latest (from 4th of december) CM 10.2 with the Iodak 8.5 kernel
CPU @ 1150 mhz (underclocked)
When i'm in the train going to college and listening to Spotify, and just a little bit of whatsapp on 3G/H/H+ my battery drains really quickly, about 25% in 1 hour
I already tried different kernels, different ROMs etc.
CM 10.2 with the Iodak 8.5 kernel is the only one where i'm getting 25% battery drain, stock CM kernel drains about 30-35% each hour while using Spotify
Anyone also having the same issue? If yes, is there a fix for this?

If there is a bad 3G,H,H+ reception in that area thats why you lose so much battery...

That does make sense, i'm in the train and it does change signal a lot
Never knew this
Thanks!

Rom with the best battery life?

Yea, so iam looking for a ROM which has the best battery life!
My uses:
Wifi
Half an hour of app usage(excluding messaging and calling)
constant messaging
slight OC, 710 Mhz
3 to 4 hours of calls each day!
Iam currently on the Hybrid V.5 Rom, and although the battery life has improved since V.4! but iam still looking for Senseless or sense ROM with speed, stability and a great battery life!
Just SetCPU itself can achieve this. Create a profile with low max speed (352) and min speed (245) when the Screen is off. You will notice a dramatic increase in battery life. Lastly, 710 MHz is not a "slight" OC by any means.
Although, with your usage pattern, it seems you are a pretty heavy user, so, I doubt you will see too much of a potential change with this. For the record, after I created the SetCPU Profile, battery life has gone up for me from about 1.5 days to more than 2 days now (Sometimes 3- 3.5 days with light usage), and, the scenario was similar on both, WildPuzzle 2.2.1 and CM7. (It is better though with CM7, so I am assuming AOSP ROMs are better battery managers than Sense ROMs)
CM7 for is best for battery life. But i didnt try all roms, but much.
I'd have to recommend CM7 Nightlies.
It's just so good.
For example:
Battery is fully charged at midnight, went to sleep while listening to songs and when I woke up the next morning it's still at 100%. I also do constant messaging. Other than that, I'm on WiFi and have set the phone to run in 2G mode only.

agree with you
Definitly CM7 it's far the best for battery saver, cause Gingerbread was created also for that pourpose.

[Q] Terrible battery life with CM7

Being disappointed with the bad battery life since the stock GB update (which took like 30% battery idling over night, vs 10% in Froyo), I installed CM7.1 stable. However, things went to worse, and CM7 took 75% battery in 8h after a full charge and a reboot! I tried since the last nightly and some older basebands, and left my phone with ~50% battery in the evening, only to find it shut off (because battery depleted) in the morning!
I suspect it's caused by 3G, because if I disable mobile data, the phone consumed only 1% in 2h of idling.
Does anybody has this problem too? Any advice?
Thanks!
Try the latest nightly 204.
The battery lasting as with the original GB ROM.
I am on the nightly 204 since few days and it is OK from the battery side.
Thanks for the reply!
I already tried 204, but it was the same. I also tried a lot of different basebands, but all were draining battery. I used smartflash to flash v10b, and then flashed the v10f kdz, the last that didn't drain my battery off. It contains BB 725, which I also had tried with CM7.
I'll try to restore the CM7 backup to see if it still drains my battery and keep this thread updated with the results.
check with spareparts what is using the battery (partial wake up). I bet it's google maps latitude!
There is a Google maps entry, but the usage is minimal.
So after 6h on stock v10f that consumed 5% I restored on top of that versions BB the cm7 backup. With a few minutes screen on (me checking the consumption), my battery bleeded 9% in an hour!
I have exactly the same problem :-(
No idea about that...
No special entry in battery consumption.

Yesterday I downloaded this http://uploaded.to/file/tgpilbek Kang on my O2x and that is best rom regarding to battery life which i put on my O2X in few weeks. In 24 hours of moderate use i am still on 70%. And everything else just work fine. And I must say that i tried bunch of roms lately, from all 20L to all CM7 kangs I could find.

I already use this kang since 3rd dec. Problem is still present.
Also tried different kernels with 203 nightly like swiftextreme or vork. No noticeable battery improvement.

Look at the details, how much time did it run? 15m in hours could drain the battery so much fast!
post your signal strength in 3G or 2G, and then post your betterstats screenshoot for wakelock activity. then we can predict what is the problem.
I flashed o lot of BB/RIL combinations, so I cannot make the screenshots. In the partial wakelocks submenu there was a Maps entry, and it was like 5s for like 6h, so I supposed that wasn't very much.
Right now I'm trying the combination BB from V20C (VDF Romania) with RIL 606 from V10c Euro Open, which seems to behave somewhat better than other tried combinations.

Huexxx kernel 4.0 with mod battery drain

Helloy guys will the kernel I told above 10 hours maxmium battery without touching the phone you know what does this mean it means without doing anything only alarm rigs 6 min and switched off the battery finishes in 10 hours why??
CM7 300-1000MHZ
for more specific deep sleep(by cpy spay) is 97%
Battery use
Mobile stand by 48%
phone signal 38%
Android OS 4%
display 4%
also the charging is too slow charging 1% / 10 min
It's CM7 bug. Heuxxx kernel is good, but it's old. Doesn't have latest CM7 commits which fix aspects of the kernel code.
Try boype's kernel but i still get max 16hrs of battery use on any CM7 rom. I think it would be wise to stay away from CM7 based roms until a fix comes if battery drain is an issue for you.

[Q] CM10 battery life and other stuff

This is the first time I have flashed a custom ROM.I recently flashed the latest stable CM10 with the JB semaphore kernel and its been great so far as far as performance goes. But the main issue is the battery life, on moderate usage it seems to only last 10-12 hours. I tried the usual fixes like changing my modem, battery calibration and also making sure the com.media.process was not running continuously(using better battery stats app), and it seems to have slightly improved.
Questions are
1)Is this normal battery life to be expected from CM10?
2)Does CM9 have a better battery life than CM10?
3)Are there any other JB roms that will give me a somewhat bug-free plus high performance/good battery life?
4)Is the current stable CM9 more suited for everyday usage than CM10? I read that CM10 still has lots of bugs and issues?
Thanks in advance guys
My battery in JB lasts for maximum 10 hours
So there are no JB roms that have good battery life?
This is very important question for me, need to know witch ROM is better cm9 or cm10? battery draining extremely fast(8 hours aprx.)
Did someone tested this issue?
I'm not sure if I want to downgrade even if the battery life is better but I'm interested in this matter too.
Actually my only issue with JB battery life seem to be a rom issue ...
Yeah there is clearly something wrong with your installation. I am running CM10 Fishears Nightly, JB Semaphore 2.6.0 Old, XXJW4 radio and I usually have about 70% battery left at the end of a working day when I put my phone on the charger as I go to sleep. On a usual day, I listen to about 2hrs music on the train and do some light browsing/games throughout the day.
Here are my Semaphore settings:
Governor: Ondemand w/ Smooth UI enabled
Active scheduler: Simple I/O
Deep Idle Enabled
SAI Enabled
SD Card read ahead: 256KB
Normally the only apps that run in the background on my phone are:
BLN
Voodoo Sound
GO SMS
Settings
SwiftKey
WidgetLocker
Widgets
This way I don't have crap pulling my phone out of sleep all the time. On CM10 you should be able to get at least 2-3 days out of a single battery charge.
here my batterystatts i use stock cm10 with the newest nightly and the stock kernel sheduler noop govenor ondemand my 3g is enabled and i use more or less hole day wlan. i have the original battery.

Battery drain solved

Hello, and scuse me for my poor English but if that can help someone:
I had a lot of problems with battery drain of my phone, so i've tested some roms but give me bad results. All my tests was the night, with no data, no wifi, no bluetooth
Supreme Rom was the first and battery drain was 3% by hour
Rom Ripper V1.0 was the second and with perseus kernel 4 or 5% by hour....!
The third XTrem rom V3 with Perseus Kernel 3% by hour and with Stock Kernel 1,5% by hour. V4, it was the same. I've tested with set CPU at minimum (400 MHZ max) screen off, voltages for all frequences -25mV, don't change anything.
BUT last Night I've tested Padorium ROM V6 with Stock Kernel and OUahhh, my battery was at 90% before sleep and 8 hours after, 87%. So 0.5% only by hour!! And in use (datas or wifi on, internnet, fcbk.....) 1% every 10 min. It's very good.
If that can help someone who's flashing again and again for battery drain....
I would not say this has solved battery drain.
I can get same amount of loss overnight if I turn off data, wifi, bluetooth etc as in 3% all night even less if I put the phone into flight mode. No matter what phone or rom I have used I can get these same results.
For you to lose soo much battery overnight you must have some rogue app running in the background to cause it, that is why personally I restart the phone before going to bed to kill any unknown apps in the background that are going to drain battery.

I don't think there was some apps who drained my battery. I've installed some tasks killers and that don't change anything. I saw regulary apps who runing, there were no apps stranges. I use the same apps now and battery drain is ok.
