I'm on a Lumia 925 and although I've deleted my voicemail, the notification won't go away. Any suggestions?
I've rebooted, removed the SIM, called the voicemail again and hung up, had another message put in my voicemail and deleted it. Nothing has worked. Anyone?
Thanks!
Do you have Visual VoiceMail enabled? If so, try disabling VVM and enabling it again, if not, try enabling it...
Nope, I don't have Visual Voicemail on my provider.
Call voice mail again but this time instead of hanging up press the * button and let it hang it's self up.
* doesn't do anything in my provider's voicemail. Just repeats the main menu.

I have a new device and i get a message that reads, there is a delay in setting up your voicemail. setup will complete when this message is delivered. if i go into voicemail and click menu, i have an option for undelivered. in there it says activation message. if i click menu and select retry sending all a message pops telling me that the message will be delivered when data services become available which isnt right cause i always have data. or it tells me that there is a delay in setting up your voicemail. your message will be delivered once this step is complete.
please help me cause sprint was unable to...

You can use Wifi to activate voicemail. I have the same app on my Evo.
Also, try updating your data profile. Go to Settings -> System Updates -> Update Profile. See if that fixes it for you afterwards.

i enabled wifi, updated my profile, rebooted. launched voicemail and am receiving the same error. there is a delay in setting up your voicemail. your message will be sent as soon as this step is complete.
there has to be something i am missing on the device side...i can access my mailbox by calling in. this makes me thing, its device side...
any solution is greatly appreciated...in getting the sprint vm to work.
or i can delete sprint_core.apk and be done with it and its 5mb running process.

If you really want visual voicemail and don't care if it's Sprint or not, download Google Voice and activate voicemail on it. You need a Google account (it's free). It's nice because you can manage your voicemail online. You can download it, archive it, forward it, etc. Works just as well, if not better. You can set different greetings for different people, etc. Give it a try.
i tried this too
http://www.evo4gforum.net/troubleshooting-htc-evo-4g/visual-voicemail-isnt-working/
that wont work. just tells me that there are messages waiting to be delivered when i compose and attempt to send them.
I had a similar problem... what seemed to work to me was to press menu in VVM and compose a message to [email protected]. Make sure you have either wifi or 3g enabled and make the message over 25 seconds. Idk why your original activation message is not sending but this may help fix your problem.
edit... i just saw that you already tried this so the only other thing i can think of is to try to take it to a sprint store

it needs to be over 25 seconds?? i tried that method but not that duration...it just seems to me that the vvm app is not sending the activation messages...any messages.

ive got it rooted and junk, i really dont want to reset this thing to deal with those...'people that dont know', for lack of a better term.
there has to be a way to fix this. i just tried sending a longer message to [email protected] tells me there are two messages awaiting delivery.
Don't know if you are aware, but Sprint recently updated the VVM software to version T.5.1.0.48 (here in TX it was updated the last week of October). Note that Sprint CSR will not be able to help you reset it unless you are on a Sense ROM. Period.
Two options to fix on your non-Sense ROM... there is an updated .apk floating around on these boards (might need to PM someone for it). Get it and install via your file manager.
Or...
Other way is to nandroid your current ROM, then flash a Sense ROM like Fresh's most current. Then, update your PRL and Profile, then go into the VVM and press Menu and update Sprint VVM.
Then, either try to nandroid back to your original ROM and check to see if that does it (haven't tried that, but it might work)... or else... yes, you will need to pull the updated com.coremobility.app.vnotes from the Sense ROM and install the pulled .apk into your new ROM.
Hope this helps.
I have an idea. Try calling 408-970-0000 from your cell phone. It may ask you if you would like to receive sms voice messages. when i call from my phone it says "our records indicate that you are calling from an sms voice messaging enabled phone. if you would like to stop receiving messages press 2" If you changed from a phone that did not support this feature it may ask if you would like to receive messages instead. I am not sure if this will work but it is worth a try
none of this is working. in fact, I called that number and seemingly disabled the feature and there is no option to reenable.
well i did the same and i accidentally disabled but then re-enabled by sending another activation message to the visual voice-mail activation address. if that still does not work p.m me and i will send you the most recent version of VVM and you can flash it to your phone. if that still does not work you may just have to use Google Voice. it is free and i have used it before when i could not get sprint vvm installed and it works great.

ill take the latest version that you have...im willing to try anything. this is a new device and it wouldnt configure even on day one, before I rooted and rom'd it.
Well, i got it.
I thought, 'there has to be a reason Im not receiving these messages.'
I had 9016 included in the 'blocked texts' list. at sprint.com in my account. So my vvm wouldnt send me messages(i had a dozen sitting in there when i called) and I was unable to compose and send.
I removed 9016 from the blocked text list and tested. It worked. Then I added 9016 to the list, and it DID NOT work.
Days of frustration, something so simple.
Thank you, everyone, for your patience and assistance.
Fix
I deleted all the Sprint VM apk's and flashed the attached zip. No more stupid update notification!
EDIT - Opps, posted in wrong thread, but if you have that annoying Mandatory Update Notification, this should clear it.

Could anyone tell me what the visual voice mail activation address is? I've made this same mistake and can't seem to figure out how to re-enable the 9016 text messages and thus re-enable my visual voice mail. Thanks!
Disregard my last post...I figured it out:
what seemed to work to me was to press menu in VVM and compose a message to [email protected]
I can send and receive texts from everyone but my wife.
Both of us have RUU'd to updated Sprint HK version.
However, I couldn't send our receive SMS from her before this.
We can't use Hangouts SMS, Sense SMS, or any other messaging app.
The conversations DO show up in Google Voice, but we never get notifications from any selected messaging app we choose.
The weird thing is, I can send her MMS fine on any messaging app.
Any ideas?

You can do the same thing through "Activate this device" in the settings. I tried that with both phones.
MMS is working fine through Sense messaging app, but SMS doesn't work at all.
Alright.
I guess since I used Google Voice for Voicemail, it disabled the Voicemail app that comes with Sense.
Deleted Voice from account, and now Voicemail app and messaging work.
Thank you for the help. Not the first time Google Voice screwed something up for my phone.
But, if I switch to AOSP, I'll have to use Voice again, so will it screw up again?
Only one way to find out lol

I have not been receiving voicemail notifications on my Turbo. I don't want to have to use Visual Voice Mail. Does anyone have any ideas? Please help, thanks
Did you set it up? This was the first phone I've had in a while that I had to set everything up again and until I did, I wasn't getting them either obviously. Also, make sure that the box to receive notifications is turned on for the app under setting-apps-vm.
I'm having the same problem. Google Voice wasn't picking up for some reason so I switched to VZW VVM and I just flat out don't get a notification even with them enabled. I have to go in and check to see if I have any VMs after I miss a call.

Thanks for the help, I've decided to give Google Voice a try. I get text displays of the messages as well as the audio files to my email
You need to log onto your verizon account on your computer and then switch the voicemail. Go to the free one and not the visual voicemail. Something like that. I just looked and the interface changed and I can't find where to do it now. It is a plan feature.
so on kitkat i had the voicemail icon stuck. i use google voice, and i think this is just a standard verizon voicemail icon. i've checked and there are no new voicemails.
i figured when i upgraded to lollipop it would go away. well guess what, it didn't. so i did a factory reset, and now it's back.
i found that by deleting the data and wiping the cache on one of the 4 phone apps, i'm able to get rid of it, but then when i reset the device it comes back.
any help please!!!!

What happens if you go to settings-apps-voicemale untick show notification?
Have you maybe disabled the default messaging app?
The verizon system voicemail notifications come through to your phone as an encoded txt message, so if the messaging app isn't correctly parsing those to the system, it may not clear the voicemail icon.

i have disabled the both the verizon and motorola native messaging apps. i use hangouts. any suggestion on how to correct the messaging apps?
To test that theory, enable the Verizon messaging app again, then have someone leave you a voicemail. Call your voicemail and delete it. It should clear the voicemail notification. Then you can probably disable it again and see if it still happens the next time someone leaves a voicemail for you.

Oh, and check that it really is the Verizon voicemail indicator. In your notifications, hold your finger down on the notification, then touch the "i" that comes up.

i followed those steps though i'm doubtful it will work. i was already able to check myvzw voicemail by just hitting *86 and there were no messages. when i followed these steps there were also no messages. i'm restarting now.
and it's back up and running with "2 new voicemail".
ugh.....
Did you try leaving yourself a voicemail and clearing it that way? Someone else mentioned it in the thread but didn't see you respond to doing it.

That's the point, there are no voicemails.just notifications.
I'm still looking into a way to fix it man and as soon as I can find something substantial, I'll let you know. I can only imagine how annoying having those persistent notifications would be
Already tried clearing cache and force stopping. Every time I try to open the app, it just closes right away. Any thoughts on the issue?

It was. Weird thing happened, I apparently had a voicemail--once I listened to and deleted that, the app started opening again. Really strange.
Is it stock? If you flashed something, like a ROM or an app, it is probably that and you need to (clean?) re-flash the ROM. Happened to me before on another phone when I flashed, and a re-flash fixed it. NVM, seems you have it working now.

I had the same issue seems like the phone app can't handle voicemail. I turned off visual voicemail to see if I can isolate the issue. Let's see what happens. BTW does anyone know if the source code of phone app is opensource or not?
EDIT: I think I know what the issue is, the voicemail I received was from a private number (VOIP). Looks like visual voicemail was unable to determine the caller number and died (I did not look into the logs but I am fairly certain about it).
installing tmobile visual voicemail and deleting my voicemails fixed my issue. hope this helps someone.

Thanks I did a similar thing. I dialed my Voicemail from Truecaller and deleted them. So from what I have tested the default dialer app was not able to handle visual voicemail from Private/Unknown number. Looks like someone overlooked a null pointer error.
null/segv kind crash

I had the same issue. It turns out that I had a voicemail that was not deleted from an "unknown" number (t-mobile usa). The phone app was not able to handle it and crashed. I am assuming the phone number field was empty and whatever data that was there in its place from next field simply corrupted its memory or caused it to segv. I think this is just a bug in their phone app. In order to replicate the issue, just have someone block and send the voicemail to them and try opening the app, it crashes without any incident. Is there a way to see any exception thrown? or is that not on the consumer build?

You can use the user feedback app installed on the latest stock rom
Open it and recreate your crash and submit report to oneplus
If possible they will rectify in the next update
