Little confused on the firmware version I have. When I open a command prompt in adb fastboot with the "fastboot getvar all" command, it shows "version-main- 1.26.502.12" which is an old firmware. When I check the settings "about" page on the phone it shows build number 3.62.401.1. Isn't the build number listed on the phone the current firmware? Here's the fastboot command prompt:

Its not compulsory to have the same buildnumber and firmware version
from the details above...i guess u might have flashed an older firmware (1.44 hboot)
you can flash the recent firmware of 3.62 build..mostly it would be of 1.55hboot in RUU mode as you are S-off

It's an original launch day phone, so that is the original firmware as I didn't perform a firmware flash. I just unlocked, rooted/rom, and got s-off, superCID. So do I need to relock the bootloader to do this firmware flash? I'm gonna use the nowipe 3.62 firmware. If I do need a relock, do I need to unlock the bootloader again after or can I still flash roms with s-off locked? Sorry for so many questions, I'm coming from years of iOS jailbreaking and just starting to get into the android developer language. Any help is always appreciated.

You dont have to relock and unlock bootloader because you are s-off...you can flash firmware directly in RUU mode or run an RUU.zip or RUU.exe to update your firmware

Hi guys I am a newbie in the android/root/unlock world and now I am really confused. I've spent 4 hours searching both on this forum and the rest of the internet but I thought to open this thread to clarify my doubts out.
I've rooted some months ago and I've installed the MoDaCo Rom, now I'd like to reset my handset to the original firmware.
From the bootloader I can see that I got HBOOT 1.54 so I can't get S-OFF. What I didn't understand is whether I can reset to the stock firmware somehow or not. If so, can you please link a step by step procedure?
Thanks and I do really apologize for my silly question because I know that searching for the right words I'd have already found the answer
Use the command
Code:
fastboot getvar all
in fastboot mode and post the output here deleting imei and serial ID
So, we can see your firmware version.
Can you remember if when you unlocked the phone you was on 1.54 hboot and 2.xx.xxx.x firmware?

Use this rom/guide for restore your phone like stock
You have to donwload the same zip of your version-main:
Code:
2.24.401.1
thanks again.
Let me understand what I am going to do... I am going to install a stock ROM as I did before for the MoDaCo rom but I am not going back in time when I bought the phone, right?
My phone will be always unlocked? If I'd like to reset completely my phone re-locking it, would that be possible?
Thanks, in advance
The rom i've linked will install the stock recovery, rom and radio
After this, you can relock your phone with the command:
Code:
fastboot oem lock
.
When you've used this command, you will see relocked in bootloader and this is like stock, and you can get the ota.
However, i will advice you to acheive the s-off if it will come out for 1.54/1.55 hboot, because, with this, you can restore your phone like as you bought it!
thanks again mate.
I'll wait then, you've been very very very clear

From what I see from your ''fastboot getvar all'' your CID is HTC__J15 and MID PN0711000 so you need a .401 base RUU like this one : http://www.htc1guru.com/dld/ruu_m7_u_jb_50_htc_europe_1-29-401-2_r_radio_4a-14-3250-13_10-33-1150-01_release_311663_signed_2_4-exe/ not a .707
But you are S-on, you shouldn't be able to run a RUU because it require Hboot downgrade to 1.44 (you are on 1.54)
Maybe you should go with a guru reset from htc1guru.com or attemp to s-off and run the 1.29.401 ruu.exe

We don't care! Let me explain: you have to downgrade hboot to 1.44 to be able to run that ruu I linked above. After the ruu process is complete you will receive ota and hboot will update to latest version avail.

Yes after a RUU restore, your device will be 100% stock (stock OS, stock recovery etc...) so as long your MID and CID match the ruu, you will receive ota updates.

Allways stay s-off !!! If you still were s-off, you simply had to run that ruu.exe i linked above. Now with s-on you can't downgrade hboot. Nothing guarantee you will be able to s-off again when you go back s-on. so better to stay s-off.
now go read that thread I linked above (nkk71 guide to return stock) and you will find many options to return stock. You can also use a decrypted ruu.zip and edit the android-info.txt to match your mid and cid.

1- yes, i saw that, but didnt care cause you're s-off; it sometimes happens when trying to flash a firmware package and it doesnt go through successfully.
2- SuperCID is 11111111 (8 ones), then you can use any ruu you like, but it won't let you get any OTAs
3- so recommend you set HTC__J15, so you can receive OTAs
4- keep S-OFF !!

sorry, didnt understand exactly, so you ran the RUU -> so yes, you'll be 100% stock (including stock recovery, which is needed anyway), you reboot and get the notification for update to 2.24.401.2 and during update it goes to stock recovery which is normal.
What am i misunderstanding?

1- edit your post and remove IMEI and s/n
2- ask whoever quoted you to do the same
3- that RUU is not going to work, because:
......a- you are S-On, and for a downgrade to work you need to be S-Off
......b- the RUU isnt even meant for your model !!!!!
Code:
modelid: PN0713000
cid: T-MOB010
you have MID PN0710000 !!!!
from hboot & radio, your firmware should be 2.24.111.5 (German T-Mobile right?) or close to that, recommend you get S-Off using rumrunner.
so unlock bootloader, get yourself a suitable rom, and achieve s-off using rumrunner.

so unlock bootloader, get yourself a suitable rom, and achieve s-off using rumrunner.

quick question: do you want (need) to go back to stock? or are happy with custom ROMs?
(basically: what do you the end result to be?)

well kitkat isn't out yet except for the US Dev Edition, but you can try any of the ROMs in the development section, you can use @ClydeB1 Index for a list of different ROMs (and other very useful links) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2438026
Since you're now S-Off you can also use latest GPE ROMs (as they require S-Off), and also can flash different firmwares;
I usually use firmwares from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2365506
and radios from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2419699
Also, at the moment the recommended recovery to use is TWRP 2.6.3.3 http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/m7
or TWRP 2.6.3.4 http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/m7ul
Alright so I have been wanting to change my htc one (802w/dual sim) from android 5.0.2, back to 4.4.2 or 4.4.3 though I want a full stock/htc like software of the android version.
I found some here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2617159
I've got a few questions though as I am a bit afraid I might harm my phone (saw some posts that some phones might break down and not function again..)
First thing about the RUU and firmware, I figured some stuff but please correct me if I'm wrong:
I will be downloading Android 4.2.2 RUU version: 2.19.401.1 - then OTA update version: 2.41.401.1-2.19.401.1 (should be still android 4.2.2 according to the collection thread)
And to be able to get to android 4.4.2 (might not need 4.4.3) I will download OTA 4.21.401.5-2.41.401.1
Well, is there anything wrong with the OTA versions or RUU?
Also, when I get to Android 4.2.2, can I just mainly check for updates over "Software updates" and will I get the updates from HTC? Or they will prevent it as I installed a *custom* rom?
And for the main thing, please link me any tutorial or guide (in-depth will be appreciated.. would like to know what I'm doing) to install the rom and any other files if needed.
Sorry for the long post, have a good day!
Regards,
Matt.

You can't do what you said above. x.xx.401.x RUU is not for your cid (HTC__J15). You can only flash RUU that are designed for your CID and MID and since your phone is S-ON, you can't downgrade using a RUU. You'll either need to S-OFF the phone so you can flash an old M7CDUG x.xx.402.x RUU or use old costom roms.

I did some searching and I found this RUU
Code:
www htc1guru com/dld/ruu_m7_ul_k44_sense55_mr_htc_europe_4-19-401-9_r_radio_4a-23-3263-28_10-38r-1157-04l_release_353069_signed_2-1-exe/
(I can't send outside links)
According to the site it's for CID HTC_J15 and modelid PN0710000
Does it mean I can flash it even though it's x.xx.401.x? Also if I can, can you please send a guide about how to S-OFF the phone?
Thanks again.

No you can't, this RUU is simply not for your phone, not even for the same variant.
To flash a ruu on a s-on phone:
The ruu must match your CID number. Yours is HTC__J15 ---> OK
The ruu must match your MID number Yours is PN0771000 this RUU is for PN0710000 --> NO
The ruu must match the firmware base version. Yours is .402 this RUU is .401 ---> NO
The ruu must be same or newer than the current firmware version installed. Yours is 7.xx.xxx.x , this ruu is 4.xx.xxx.x so it's a downgrade, can't downgrade with s-on --> NO
The ruu must match your variant. Yours is M&CDUG --> The ruu you want to flash is for M7_UL ---> NO
The bootloader must be locked or re-locked
If only on of the above condition isn't respected, the ruu won't flash... And even if you could achieve s-off, #5 will always cause problem. You can only use RUU for M7CDUG variant
Hey gang,
I have a HTC One (M7) with very old firmware (Build: 5.11.401.10 CL334166) and running 4.4.2 using a custom ROM (ARHD 71.1). I want to update my firmware to the most current but am uncertain of the following items:
1. Can I update my firmware in one go (i.e. my current to latest) or do I have to flash each successive update?
2. All in handset or do I have to use ADB?
3. Can I do it without wiping data?
Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

You want to update the firmware only or you also want to update the software (rom stock/custom) at the same time?
Post the output of "fastboot getvar all" (remove imei/sn before posting)

I'll be paying close attention to this thread, because I'm a knucklehead who NEVER updated his firmware since he got the phone from AT&T around the time of the Boston bombing, but has repeatedly flashed updated ROMs (currently on ARHD 31.5), and when I tried 93.0 this weekend, a number of issues came up, so I went back to 31.5, and figured I need to do the right thing and update my firmware before trying 93.0 again.
So, I've got the same question #1 (Can I update my firmware in one go (i.e. my current to latest) or do I have to flash each successive update?) as the OP, with the added bonus of not being sure what my current firmware is.
Here's my output:

Bootloader 1.44 + the AT&T CID (CWS__001) suggest a 1.xx.502.x firmware. The best solution imo would be to achieve S-OFF so you can flash the 7.19.401.2 firmware and you'll be able to use recent custom roms.

Thanks - is it normal for (bootloader) version-main: to be blank?

Its not normal but its not really important. Its a bug caused by some old TWRP version (can't remember which one exactly) which erase the version number.
