Hi guys I am a newbie in the android/root/unlock world and now I am really confused. I've spent 4 hours searching both on this forum and the rest of the internet but I thought to open this thread to clarify my doubts out.
I've rooted some months ago and I've installed the MoDaCo Rom, now I'd like to reset my handset to the original firmware.
From the bootloader I can see that I got HBOOT 1.54 so I can't get S-OFF. What I didn't understand is whether I can reset to the stock firmware somehow or not. If so, can you please link a step by step procedure?
Thanks and I do really apologize for my silly question because I know that searching for the right words I'd have already found the answer
Use the command
Code:
fastboot getvar all
in fastboot mode and post the output here deleting imei and serial ID
So, we can see your firmware version.
Can you remember if when you unlocked the phone you was on 1.54 hboot and 2.xx.xxx.x firmware?

thanks for your reply. Unfortunately I can't remember what hboot and firmware version was my phone on when I unlocked it.
Here are the info that you requested

Use this rom/guide for restore your phone like stock
You have to donwload the same zip of your version-main:
Code:
2.24.401.1
thanks again.
Let me understand what I am going to do... I am going to install a stock ROM as I did before for the MoDaCo rom but I am not going back in time when I bought the phone, right?
My phone will be always unlocked? If I'd like to reset completely my phone re-locking it, would that be possible?
Thanks, in advance
The rom i've linked will install the stock recovery, rom and radio
After this, you can relock your phone with the command:
Code:
fastboot oem lock
.
When you've used this command, you will see relocked in bootloader and this is like stock, and you can get the ota.
However, i will advice you to acheive the s-off if it will come out for 1.54/1.55 hboot, because, with this, you can restore your phone like as you bought it!
thanks again mate.
I'll wait then, you've been very very very clear

1- edit your post and remove IMEI and s/n
2- ask whoever quoted you to do the same
3- that RUU is not going to work, because:
......a- you are S-On, and for a downgrade to work you need to be S-Off
......b- the RUU isnt even meant for your model !!!!!
Code:
modelid: PN0713000
cid: T-MOB010
you have MID PN0710000 !!!!
from hboot & radio, your firmware should be 2.24.111.5 (German T-Mobile right?) or close to that, recommend you get S-Off using rumrunner.
so unlock bootloader, get yourself a suitable rom, and achieve s-off using rumrunner.

well kitkat isn't out yet except for the US Dev Edition, but you can try any of the ROMs in the development section, you can use @ClydeB1 Index for a list of different ROMs (and other very useful links) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2438026
Since you're now S-Off you can also use latest GPE ROMs (as they require S-Off), and also can flash different firmwares;
I usually use firmwares from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2365506
and radios from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2419699
Also, at the moment the recommended recovery to use is TWRP 2.6.3.3 http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/m7
or TWRP 2.6.3.4 http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/m7ul
Hi guys, Noob-alert! Please let me know if I'm in the wrong place here.. I don't want to annoy you guys.
I got a HTC One from a friend that he bricked, at least that's what he thinks. I said I might be able to find out more and I got the phone into the bootloader with the bright light and all that.
Since I have no idea where to start and what kind of ROM's and other stuff the guy has used, I'd like some proper guidance into getting this phone into original condition, if that's still possible. He used this phone with a Canadian Rogers plan.
Oh yeah, Recovery doesn't work. It reboots and gives me the phone icon with the red "!" triangle.
Is factory reset a good start?

Recovery does work, that's just stock recovery you have on the phone. Once in the red triangle screen press volume + up and or down to enter recovery. You might have to try this a few times..
Your phone is also re locked so you need to unlock it from htcdev. Just follow the instructions. . Can you post a fastboot getvar all please.

Your friend seems to have installed the US Google edition rom on the phone..
To get back to stock rogers use this RUU
http://www.htc1guru.com/dld/ruu_m7_..._10-38r-1157-04l_release_351317_signed_2-exe/
If you prefer another rom. Go to htcdev and get an unlock code and follow the instructions. Once unlock you can fastboot a recovery for your phone. I recommend TWRP 2.6.3.3.. but one step at a time.. What would you like to do

You sir, are my HERO! Thank you so much, it's back to stock now and works great.
A new question: It's asking for a SIM network unlock PIN which probably means that i''s SIMlocked. I don't have a Rogers SIM so I need to get that unlocked.
The actual question; how can I get rid of the lock without having to pay for it? (I found some websites that can provide you a code and stuff like that.)
I'm willing to root/flash and stuff like that.. but I need a clear guide so I don't screw up.

I haven't tried this yet since I first wanted it back to the original state.
So I found out that my question was pretty dumb. Apparently I can only get it unlocked with a code. Which created a new question:
Will my phone get any regular HTC One future updates when it's unlocked? Maybe another dumb question, but well..
What sim carrier are you with. Your Rogers phone will still get the updates providing you have not modified it, ie installed custom recovery or custom Rom.
It will still receive updates and even download them with just a custom recovery installed, it just won't apply them.

@Maurix-NL Edit 2: Everything is fine now, you can proceed with these files and instructions.
Edit: Wait a minute, I,ve linked the wrong firmware file. I'll get back to you in a few minutes...
Download this file, this file and this one save them in the same folder where you already have adb and fastboot on your computer.
First, you'll have to update your firmware so your phone can accept the latest Rogers RUU:
Code:
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip Firmware_7.17.631.52.zip
fastboot flash zip Firmware_7.17.631.52.zip

and finally flash the Rogers RUU:

htc_fastboot.exe (that particular version) is needed at least to flash the RUU. Its a modded version of Google's fastboot.exe made by HTC because Google's fastboot can't handle files as large as this RUU (Lollipop RUU are larger than the previous versions and must now be flashed with htc_fastboot.exe).

My bootloader is unlocked and I know I need to get s-off and Sunshine isn't an option for me. I have tried both Rumrunner and Moonshine and they don't work either. Can someone please help me? If you need any more information, please do ask.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

You should be able to use any rom you want ... with no s-off you just can't downgrade your firmware or change your CID / MID
This Stock Rom should work fine on your phone >> http://www.androidrevolution.org/downloader/download.php?file=One_6.09.401.5_odexed.zip
If you have a problem flash TWRP 2.6.3.3 it works best with ARHD Roms
and Here's the Stock GPe Rom .. it may need s-off not sure on your phone

As @clsA said unfortunately nothing you can do with s-on. You need s-off to downgrade and there is no ruu for your current version.
You need to get s-off or flash a custom Rom
Do you mind if I ask, did you unlock your bootloader when your device was on Android 4.3 or just recently?

Yeah sorry, mine and @clsA questions about your unlocking the bootloader were about a different discussion. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=57932209
As clsA warned, DO NOT relock your bootloader for any reason. You probably won't be able to Unlock it again.
Hi Guys,
I have been reading around the forum but cant seem to find the answer to my problem. Or the suggestions are going over my head, so hope you can help.
I have a stock htc one m7 that is unrooted but it is sim unlocked. Went to bed with the phone working and then woke up with it stuck on the htc boot screen.
Things I have tried:
- get into HBOOT (which i can), then try recovery. This just reboots the phone to the white htc screen or screen just goes off.
- try and hard reset from hboot, but this does the same and either turns the screen black or reboots.
Both times i have left the phone for a while to see if it is up to anything but nothing happens.
I read about clearing the cache, but I could not get my head around the guides I read, so is there an idiots guide (I usually pretty good with tech stuff but not done much to do with phones etc)
Or any other suggestions. I use my phone for work so would be nice to get it working again without wiping it but most of the stuff should be back up anyway.
Thanks
Tom
From what I have tried I guess I should now try and flash the RRU?
The phone is on UKs EE network, as it is not rooted do I need to flash it with their branded rom or not? If so where can I get that from.
Thanks

Yep that's what we wanted, unfortunately there's no ruu for your phone
If you've got warranty on the device I would send it in for repair.
If you don't have warranty you gonna need to unlock the bootloader to do anything with it. If your gonna do it go here www.htcdev.com register an account and go to the Unlock My Bootloader section of the site and follow the instructions to unlock :good:
Ok. I will do that.
So once the bootloader is unlocked, what is my solution? installing a different Ruu? Or installing a different Rom (or are they the same thing)
Thanks
Tom

Once your Unlocked you can flash a Custom or Unbranded Stock Rom. To be able to use RUU's you will need to go s-off. As your on hboot 1.57 the only way to s-off is Sunshine app. But this costs $25 to use. So I would just go with flashing a Custom Recovery and ROM for the time being. :good:
Unlocking the bootloader void warranty. If you have none, then proceed. In my opinion, your phone has suffered hardware failure and will not be recoverable, hence warranty.
Thanks
Thanks for the help guys. Turns out its still under warranty which is good news. I know with other custom roms you can use adb to retrive info off the device.
Any chance I can do the same, as most of the stuff is backed up except some photos ( last couple of months worth).
If not Ill get over it but just in case.
Thanks for your help so far.
Tom
So, here's the thing, I already posted on a thread but it seems it's actually full of people asking and the guys answering there are stumped with our problems so I came here.
My bootloader is locked because I (stupidly ) relocked it while trying to install a newer firmware via RUU so then it just locked me out and couldn't do anything until I installed the RUU update of the same version I was running.
It's working but not as intended.
I tried unlocking the bootloader again after installing the RUU but no luck, the token works but it just won't detect my power button when I try to accept but the button works perfectly while running the system.
Here's my getvar all:
Code:

Actually they guy there, me, was really busy in the past days and wasn't able to answer everyone. You can't imagine how much PM and Quote I had in the last week And yes I agree with you, its really hard to troubleshoot in that thread since there's so many discussions going on at the same time.

Its a pretty uncommon problem. When flashing a RUU, all partitions (except some partitions that are unique to each devices) are flashed back to stock, even the bootloader which make me believe its not a corrupt bootloader problem. So if after flashing a RUU, your phone still have some problems, its most likely an hardware problem... If the RUU flashed fine there is nothing more you can do on the software side.... THe only thing I can think is to use Sunshine S-OFF to unlock your bootloader but unfortunately it cost 25$ to use Sunshine but at least it will bypass that "power button not working only in bootloader" problem
Yeah, I figured you were real busy. )^:
I really don't mind paying for Sunshine to get S-Off but when I tried running it to get temp root it just says it failed and closes. Is there any way for me to get it working?

I would try the same method they are using in the Verizon HTC One forum, get temp root using kingRoot then launch sunshine
http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...root-root-method-bl-unlock-5-0-x-ota-t3122099
Yay! It worked. I'm S-Off and unlocked right now so I might try to install TWRP and stuff.
KingRoot worked like a charm, I didn't even need to re-run it and try to get some prompt, it just... worked and gave me temp root.
Code:
(bootloader) version: 0.5
(bootloader) version-bootloader: 1.61.0000
(bootloader) version-baseband: 4M.32.3218.06
(bootloader) version-cpld: None
(bootloader) version-microp: None
(bootloader) version-main: 7.23.502.4
(bootloader) version-misc: PVT SHIP S-OFF
.
Anyway, I still have a little doubt (unrelated to this issue but you seem to know your way around). Everything I posted in this and that thread went down because I tried to install this ROM and it said I needed some firmware flashed.
What I'm trying to get to is:
Do I really need to flash that firmware?
Is it flashed via TWRP?
Are those GPE roms worth it?
Anyways, thank you for helping me out.

Glad it worked!
Firmware files are flashed with fastboot in ruu mode:
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip "file name".zip
fastboot flash zip "file name".zip
fastboot reboot-bootloader
Then go in recovery and flash the rom
Better to flash the latest firmware without stock recovery so you don't overwrite twrp recovery with the stock recovery.
Note that this firmware is the latest GPE firmware and that if you want to go back to stock rom using a ruu you'll have to reflash a hboot 1.57 or 1.61 firmware before running a 7.xx.xxx.xx Sense ruu.
GPE roms is perfect if you want something closer to a nexus experience, otherwise stay with a Sense rom.
