Hi guys, Noob-alert! Please let me know if I'm in the wrong place here.. I don't want to annoy you guys.
I got a HTC One from a friend that he bricked, at least that's what he thinks. I said I might be able to find out more and I got the phone into the bootloader with the bright light and all that.
Since I have no idea where to start and what kind of ROM's and other stuff the guy has used, I'd like some proper guidance into getting this phone into original condition, if that's still possible. He used this phone with a Canadian Rogers plan.
Oh yeah, Recovery doesn't work. It reboots and gives me the phone icon with the red "!" triangle.
Is factory reset a good start?

I'm not 100% sure but when entering recovery you select recovery then have to press and hold power and volume up and you should then get yellow text at the bottom of screen about sd card or something similar then it'll open recovery
sorry cant be more help

Thanks, but unfortunately I can't select anything. It goes to a black screen right away and then I get the phone icon with red triangle.

Recovery does work, that's just stock recovery you have on the phone. Once in the red triangle screen press volume + up and or down to enter recovery. You might have to try this a few times..
Your phone is also re locked so you need to unlock it from htcdev. Just follow the instructions. . Can you post a fastboot getvar all please.

Your friend seems to have installed the US Google edition rom on the phone..
To get back to stock rogers use this RUU
http://www.htc1guru.com/dld/ruu_m7_..._10-38r-1157-04l_release_351317_signed_2-exe/
If you prefer another rom. Go to htcdev and get an unlock code and follow the instructions. Once unlock you can fastboot a recovery for your phone. I recommend TWRP 2.6.3.3.. but one step at a time.. What would you like to do

You sir, are my HERO! Thank you so much, it's back to stock now and works great.
A new question: It's asking for a SIM network unlock PIN which probably means that i''s SIMlocked. I don't have a Rogers SIM so I need to get that unlocked.
The actual question; how can I get rid of the lock without having to pay for it? (I found some websites that can provide you a code and stuff like that.)
I'm willing to root/flash and stuff like that.. but I need a clear guide so I don't screw up.

I haven't tried this yet since I first wanted it back to the original state.
So I found out that my question was pretty dumb. Apparently I can only get it unlocked with a code. Which created a new question:
Will my phone get any regular HTC One future updates when it's unlocked? Maybe another dumb question, but well..
What sim carrier are you with. Your Rogers phone will still get the updates providing you have not modified it, ie installed custom recovery or custom Rom.
It will still receive updates and even download them with just a custom recovery installed, it just won't apply them.

@Maurix-NL Edit 2: Everything is fine now, you can proceed with these files and instructions.
Edit: Wait a minute, I,ve linked the wrong firmware file. I'll get back to you in a few minutes...
Download this file, this file and this one save them in the same folder where you already have adb and fastboot on your computer.
First, you'll have to update your firmware so your phone can accept the latest Rogers RUU:
Code:
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip Firmware_7.17.631.52.zip
fastboot flash zip Firmware_7.17.631.52.zip
fastboot reboot-bootloader
and finally flash the Rogers RUU:
Code:
fastboot oem rebootRUU
htc_fastboot flash zip PN07IMG_M7_UL_L50_SENSE60_MR_Rogers_WWE_7.17.631.52_Radio_4T.35.3218.16_10.33Q.1718.01L_release_460206_signed_2_4.zip

Thank you very much! I'm going to give this a shot tonight. (currently at work, working on a Macbook)
One question though, I the htc_fastboot.exe the same as the adb/fastboot I used to do the getvar? Do I need to use this exe instead? Or am I talking rubbish?
Thanks again!

htc_fastboot.exe (that particular version) is needed at least to flash the RUU. Its a modded version of Google's fastboot.exe made by HTC because Google's fastboot can't handle files as large as this RUU (Lollipop RUU are larger than the previous versions and must now be flashed with htc_fastboot.exe).

So I move the 3 files in the fastboot folder I currently have, right? When do I use the HTC exe? Or will that automatically be used when I run those commands?
Sorry about all the questions. I don't want to mess things up.

Hi guys I am a newbie in the android/root/unlock world and now I am really confused. I've spent 4 hours searching both on this forum and the rest of the internet but I thought to open this thread to clarify my doubts out.
I've rooted some months ago and I've installed the MoDaCo Rom, now I'd like to reset my handset to the original firmware.
From the bootloader I can see that I got HBOOT 1.54 so I can't get S-OFF. What I didn't understand is whether I can reset to the stock firmware somehow or not. If so, can you please link a step by step procedure?
Thanks and I do really apologize for my silly question because I know that searching for the right words I'd have already found the answer
Use the command
Code:
fastboot getvar all
in fastboot mode and post the output here deleting imei and serial ID
So, we can see your firmware version.
Can you remember if when you unlocked the phone you was on 1.54 hboot and 2.xx.xxx.x firmware?

Use this rom/guide for restore your phone like stock
You have to donwload the same zip of your version-main:
Code:
2.24.401.1
thanks again.
Let me understand what I am going to do... I am going to install a stock ROM as I did before for the MoDaCo rom but I am not going back in time when I bought the phone, right?
My phone will be always unlocked? If I'd like to reset completely my phone re-locking it, would that be possible?
Thanks, in advance
The rom i've linked will install the stock recovery, rom and radio
After this, you can relock your phone with the command:
Code:
fastboot oem lock
.
When you've used this command, you will see relocked in bootloader and this is like stock, and you can get the ota.
However, i will advice you to acheive the s-off if it will come out for 1.54/1.55 hboot, because, with this, you can restore your phone like as you bought it!
thanks again mate.
I'll wait then, you've been very very very clear

1- edit your post and remove IMEI and s/n
2- ask whoever quoted you to do the same
3- that RUU is not going to work, because:
......a- you are S-On, and for a downgrade to work you need to be S-Off
......b- the RUU isnt even meant for your model !!!!!
Code:
modelid: PN0713000
cid: T-MOB010
you have MID PN0710000 !!!!
from hboot & radio, your firmware should be 2.24.111.5 (German T-Mobile right?) or close to that, recommend you get S-Off using rumrunner.
so unlock bootloader, get yourself a suitable rom, and achieve s-off using rumrunner.

well kitkat isn't out yet except for the US Dev Edition, but you can try any of the ROMs in the development section, you can use @ClydeB1 Index for a list of different ROMs (and other very useful links) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2438026
Since you're now S-Off you can also use latest GPE ROMs (as they require S-Off), and also can flash different firmwares;
I usually use firmwares from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2365506
and radios from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2419699
Also, at the moment the recommended recovery to use is TWRP 2.6.3.3 http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/m7
or TWRP 2.6.3.4 http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/m7ul
Hi,
I am pretty sure I have permanently bricked my phone, my PC no longer detects it (it used to, and I have tried reinstalling drivers several times)
When I turn on my phone, I see the HTC Logo, then it goes to a black screen, the only way for me to leave this black screen is hold power button and wait for capacitive keys to flash 115 times before it shuts off completely...I have access to Recovery Mode and am not rooted.
Any help is greatly appreciated as I've been trying to fix this for almost 8 hours now

EDIT: Relocked device because I am an idiot and now can't unlock...can get into recovery only once (when submitting unlock token, after restart I become RELOCKED again)...also I launch into Clockwork for recovery instead of TWRP for some reason, I think I occidentally flashed it at some point, every time I restart I get warned that I don't have an OS and asked if I would like to root (Y/N - doesn't change anything, still no boot)

The phone must be locked or relocked to flash the RUU. Can you please post a screenshot (or copy/paste) the entire command window so I can take a look?

hey guys, i am now about to sell my m7 after over 2 years
a long time ago when i unlocked the boot loader, and installed tmrp i made a backup of my stock ROM. its been on a usb pen along time now. so today i used twrp to restore it. all when well i then decided to relock the bootloader using fastboot. in my ignorance i thought this was all i would need to do. upon reboot a rom update was found 6.09.401.10. i am currently 6.09.401.5. downloaded and restarted to install the update. recovery wouldnt load. okay that from the twrp flash replacing it. so of course onto xda to find a stock recovery. i believe i found it. but now i am worried- do i need to re unlock the bootloader? will i need to get the token again? or do i need the rru.exe 6.09.401.10? what is the best way to do this as unsure what to do next? as it will need ota updates. i have added my version info below just encase its needed.

To flash a recovery, even if its the stock one, the bootloader must be unlocked. Unfortunately, unlocking the bootloader requires the stock recovery....
I would keep the bootloader locked and flash the latest RUU version for this phone (7.19.401.51). Look in the general section (in the sticky threads) there is one named "Lollipop RUU collection". You'll find that RUU at post #2 and instructions how to flash at post #1. Be sure to use the fastboot version (htc_fastboot) instructed at post #1 (you can't flash a 7.xx.xxx.x ruu with the fastboot version from the android sdk tools).
This is the link to the RUU. Install the file on PC (it is a big file) and connect your phone and run it.
Should return you to stock Lollipop 5.0.2 with Sense 6.
Download the right one for your variant:

Post your fastboot getvar all output, but erase your IMEI and serial number from it. That way we will be able to point you in the right direction
What a coincidence!

Hmmm rethinking this now.
Not sure if this "old" device will be able to play Pokémon Go when flashed to the original "old" ROM!
it needs Android 4.4+

This old device received officiall Android Lollipop years ago, so you'll be fine with pokemon go. I'm gonna see if I have my old h-boot stored for you when I come home from work. I think you can go directly to the last one because your phone is s-off, but I'm not sure about that because your h-boot is very old. If you can hold on for about 12 hours, I'll point you to the right direction then

Downgrade your version-main # to 7.18.708.2 using the guide at the end of this post (how to downgrade with s-on). Once done flash the 7.18.708.21 RUU using instruction of this post. Finally you'll have to take 2 ota update so you're back on 7.18.708.51 (if you need to unlock/root again make sure to install update before)

fastboot oem rebootRUU will make your phoned reboot in ruu mode (that black screen with silver htc logo). Once in ruu mode, it's time to flash the ruu using "fastboot flashing zip ruu.zip". During the flashings process you should get an error saying "flush image again immediately", the phone will reboot itself in ruu mode again and the flashing will continue,it's all normal.

If the ruu flashed fine, it's not rooted anymore. Root files are stored on the /system partition which is wiped and flashed back to stock with the ruu.

Flashing firmware or RUU is done using fastboot commands in RUU mode, not with twrp, neither with adb.
