After watching the latest ad on the samsung gear, the last ending segment is what sold me to finally pull the trigger.
Here's the problem, how do I set this up? I get forgetful sometimes and leave my phone on the desk. So how do I set it up so that if I leave without my phone, my watch will lock the phone and then notify me with vibrate that I forgot it? Any help is appreciated.

when the watch disconnects due to the distance between you and your phone it vibrates telling you you walked away from your phone and that the watch has lost connection. Which also means hay you left your phone on the table. lol
No. I do not speak about it (btw this only shows me lost connection-no alert). I was speaking about pushing gear power button and mobile starts ringing. Cool feature

Mine just tells me the bluetooth disconnected (along with a buzz) which is enough. No real notification.

That is probably "Find my phone" which is a built in app.
1. The Gear vibrates when it gets out of BT range. As far as I know there is no setting for this, it default.
2. Find my device and find gear are 2 default apps in gear manager and in gear.

Find my device works but it is manual.
Be kind of nice to walk away and get more than a vibration when you exceed Bluetooth range.
3. If u lock your phone with a pattern gear will unlock the pattern. But not the whole lockscreen, u still have to swype over the screen. It has to be in a range of about 10cm
Sent from my SM-N9005 using xda app-developers app
It's in the gear manager on your phone, Settings, 1st option: Autolock.
Hi guys, yes indeed the vibration is a standard setting for proximity alert. However me too u would like to change that to a spoken notification both for out of prxomity alert "connectiopn lost" and for reconnecting.
Any ideas?

I got a Gear 2 Neo and connected it to my AT&T Note 3 (unrooted, running stock Android 4.4.2). After one week, I experienced random reboots on the Note 3. I backed up all my apps including Gear Manager and all related plugins and apps with Helium Backup, wiped and reset my Note 3, restored from Helium Backup (Gear Manager etc got restored and connected the Neo to the Note 3 as before). I still got the random reboots within 12 hours.
I wiped and reset my Note 3 again, restored all the backed up apps except Gear Manager etc. So far it's been 35+ hours. No random reboots. I'll wait and see for longer to make sure there's really no more reboots. Then I'll try connecting the Neo again

Sorry, I have an S4 and have had zero re-boot issues with Gear Manager. So the program itself doesn't seem to be universally causing this problem. Only four things I could think of would be:
- Maybe try an different earlier/later version of GM?
- Also make sure you have the latest rom on the watch (ND8).
- If all that is ok, maybe try testing the sync function --load GM, but only enable sync for nothing or one app. Then, after a day or so, start adding back one or two a day, and see if you can catch the offending app/function.
- Perhaps getting a capture log of the phone when it crashes and posting it here might help the more tech-savvy members identify any issues -just an idea!
Shouldn't be an issue, since I haven't had random reboots with my Canadian note 3

70+ hours passed, no reboots. I installed Gear Manager back on my Note 3, wiped the Neo also, connected the 2 again. I kept everything to just default. It's been over 1 day. No reboots. I actually uninstalled Gear Manager when I had the reboots. That didn't clear away whatever was causing the problem. The factory reset on the Note 3 took care of the issue, so far, fingers crossed
I am getting reboots on my note 3 as well. A couple a week. Interested to hear if it comes back.

So I got a gear manager update today and it seemed to be a substantial one. So I decided to wipe my dumb TW rom off and go back to an AOSP rom and maybe gear manager would work then. Well I got farther than I did before but it kept popping up hostmanager forced close error. Seems like that is the one thing now keeping me from going back to my beloved AOSP roms. Any help to figure this out would be amazing.

Yeah on my Hyperdriven 18.1 S4 I was running the new update for the gear manager and kept getting "SAprovider has stopped" over and over and I just went into the application manager on my phone and removed the application for it. Currently idk what the issues will be with me doing this but I'm currently about to reboot my gear 2 neo back into stock.
im looking for the APK to the previous version as when i try and open gear manager now on my Stock S5 it comes up Gear Plugin has stopped and i cant open the app.... any help please? thanks
I'm very hopeful that a resolution could be found, AOSP roms are my roms of choice for any device....but I do like using my Gear 2 Neo
Yeah I can't stand being on touchwhiz, I really hope someone can figure this out, but the support doesn't seem to be to good for this device.

so... the Gear Manager updated last night and now I'm NOT getting any notification... I've reset the watch, and still nothing... any advice? (I'm on Note 3)
OK so after all day of tinkering I finally got my g2n fully functioning on the new update with my note 2. So the only rom I could get it fully functional on is mean bean, which for a tw rom it isn't that bad. Did a full wipe, installed, set up and, then installed galaxy apps, then installed gear manager. It came up saprovider force close, so I uninstalled just that, then rebooted, then opened up gear manager and proceeded to set up my watch the way I like it. Think I had to do it twice, but I just kept uninstalling that saprovider and eventually it just worked. Svoice, weather, everything

Seems like a lot of people are having problems... The phone side gets FC's (mine is SAProviders) and messages aren't going to the watch. I found a way around it by using Hangouts. But also after the new update the watch battery is shocking. I used to get 6-7 days, but since the update I barely manage the day with minimal use.

OK guys, we have a guy who has helped me with the problems after the update... Shocking battery, FC's and no notifications.
Grab the last working version of GM you had before the update, uninstall all GM from your phone and install the last working version with NO internet connection.
Then use xprivacy (xposed module) and block all GM from using internet.
So far iI have got my gear 2 neo back to full working order and no constant update reminders on GM.
(Thanks to labellord for this from gear 2 forum)
So has anyone figured out a way to make it work with AOSP roms

too late!
I have reverted back to stock on my devices, all is working ok.
I probably will put a custom rom back on over the weekend as I cant stand the slow-bloaty rom!
Ill look back at it then, this is the 3rd time this week I have wiped/flashed and re-set-up my device because of this issue!!
I uninstalled all software about gear, then reinstalled gear manage, it became Ok.
I'm getting notifications. Some work and some don't. Gmail and hangouts work, but pushover for one does not notify me, however if I look in notifications on the watch, it is there.
Update: I followed the instructions above (installed xprivacy, installed the older host manager in airplane mode, then restricted it inxprivacy). Everything is back to working like before.
Thanks Samsung.

Anyone having an issue with not being able to install apps to your watch with this issue. My issue is the on going saprovider. The apps I'm having an issue with are Yotta watch, The Weather Channel, and Smart IR Remote. I have been able to install other watch faces and also multi watch to my gear 2 neo. I'm on the galaxy s4 with Hyper drive 18.1 and Gear 2 Neo stock.
Using null rom or stock android doesn't work correctly with my note 4. Here are my issues.
1. Text notification doesn't clear on my watch even though I've already viewed them on my phone.
2. I set up a pattern lock via gear manger setting and it no longer auto unlock when the watch is near my phone.
So far those are the 2 I've noticed.
I'm on stock Android (NA6) with the Note 4 and haven't had problems clearing text notifications.
The problem I do have, however, is that Gear Manager hides the third-party apps I've sideloaded to the Gear as soon as it connects.

Thanks for the info. So you dont have any of the above issues I mentioned? But I think if I go stock I might as well go tizen. I'm gonna miss the 60 seconds recording on Null rom though. I use it a lot. How come you haven't ugpraded to Tizen if you're running stock anyway?

No, I haven't had any problem with removing the notifications, though I can't speak to the pattern lock issue because I've never used the lock feature. After way too much time spent trying to figure out what was going on with my issue, I finally had enough of the time sink and upgraded to Tizen just an hour or so ago. I had been holding out on that move because I'd been undecided about whether to get the Nexus 6 or the Note 4, and wanted to keep the option of (somehow) using it with the Nexus. Now that I've chosen the Note 4 and sold my soul to Samsung for another year, though, there was really no reason not to upgrade, save for losing the ability to sideload Android apps.

Haven't done anything yet. But it seemed to have fixed the notification thing. Sometimes it just takes a while but when I view the text on my phone, it eventually goes away now on my watch. I did upgrade to Null 23 since I was only on null 21. But I can't get myself to upgrade to Tizen. I want to keep my 60 seconds recording. I still have the unlock via gear issue and have just disabled locking on it completely.

Maybe try this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-gear/general/runtastic-finally-tizen-t2863431
So I just bought a Gear 2 and it also has issue #2 where the phone won't unlock if the Gear 2 is near it. This seems to be an issue with the note 4. Hopefully it can be fixed via software.
UPDATE: I uninstalled GM and reinstalled it again but downloaded from Samung app store. Also once connected, I had GM reset the gear instead of restoring. It also did do 2 small software updates during connection setup. I'm not sure which made the difference but the gear 2 is unlocking the phone ok now.
Just for the heck of it, I then unpaired the gear 2 and repaired my gear 1. It didn't ask for me to restore or reset and it just did the 6 digit confirmation code. It did the 4 small updates during connection setup. After connection, I checked and auto lock was still set in GM setting for the Gear 1 as well as all other settings being unchaged. And now it works! WTH. I tried moving the gear away and it locked. Moved closed and it auto unlocked. Also works if I power down the gear and power it back up. I've tried uninstalling GM so many times before and let it reset my gear1 but that didn't do anything. Maybe the gear 2 triggered something in the phone for it to work right? I have no idea. But I'm glad it's working now. Now I just need to decide which I want to keep. But I'm probably leaning towards the gear 1 with null 2.
UPDATE 2: Restarted the phone and issue came back.
UPDATE 3: So if I walk away and come back near the phone it works 1 time. I will try it with the gear 2 and see if I have the same issue. I didn't restart the phone when I had it connected to the gear 2.
This thread's kind of surprising to me. I had a ton of problems with my Note 3 and Gear that all went away with the Note 4. Everything just works - auto unlock, BT connect/re-connect, Gear Manager. When I was having problems with the Note 3 I installed the Canadian ROM (vs. U.S.) on my Gear and just stayed with it even though it didn't help anything. Its method of rebooting or recovering is easier to use than the U.S. version. Maybe there's something in the Gear's U.S. ROM causing it to misbehave? The only downside between Note 3/4 is that a bunch of apps I previously had installed don't show up any more either in my "purchased" apps or in the Gear App Store. Why Samsung keeps playing with what apps are available based on host device is beyond me.

Nope. I'm on the Canadian ROM. Can you look in the Gear App Store with a U.S. ROM'd Gear and see if Direct or PayPal are in there? I don't think the Gear's region restricts app but it would be nice to know for sure.

I have a Samsung Galaxy Watch and a Samsung S10 phone. Several times over the past week or so, my watch battery has completely drained in about an hour. I only notice when it vibrates at 15%. There doesn't seem to be anyway to get a notification either from the watch or through the Samsung Wearable app when it reaches 30% instead of 15%. Is there a way to create a task on the phone to notify me when the watch's battery level reaches 30%?
Thanks.
Sorry I have no answer to your question but as a user of the gw myself, what are you doing to drain the battery that fast? Do you have the 42 or 46mm version?

I have the 42mm. Unfortunately, I'm not doing anything. It is a bug with the watch (or phone). It happens to my husband's 46mm as well. It will suddenly just become unresponsive and burn through the battery. It can drain a full battery in about an hour. Several times, I've charged it completely before bedtime, put it on to sleep, and then sometime during the night it'll drain and turn off. Happens randomly during the day, too.
That for sure makes the watch unusable. I am using the 46mm variant and use it heavily for tracking sports and / or use the navigation while sport (eg riding bike). Even with this heavy usage I never had less than ~40% in the evening. For everyday use I get 3 days with 30 percent left with my medium usage setup, if I switch off some sensors I would even get more I guess. That's what you can take as a comparison for the 46mm watch.
Now how to get there? Don't try to spend time into tracking this drain with tasker or whatever, instead pull it by the root. Sounds like some app is misbehaving (in the background?). I would try to start looking for apps on the watch. What 3rd party apps do you AND your husband have both installed? Remove them, one by one, and watch the result. I have only 3 3rd party apps (GPS navigation, wrist camera and watchevents). If it doesn't get better after you only have the stock apps installed, you unfortunately have to make a reset to the settings. If the behaviour comes back after the reset with only the stock apps, send it back if you still have warranty.
Btw, you know that you can see the apps that are running in the background on the watch? I put this overview on the double tap action on the home button. You can also use this for further investigation, like close all apps instead of one, like the suspicious one and so on...
Keep me updated on the results!

How do you see which apps are running? I know through the Samsung Wearables app that I can see what apps have used the most battery since last charged, but unfortunately that is no help in this situation. I just removed a couple of apps that were on the watch that I don't use (Samsung Flow, and one or two others). Now the only uninstallable apps are Timer and Stopwatch. Everything else is a stock app (most of which I never use).
Thanks.
I don't know how it is called in English, so I roughly translate it on the fly:
- Settings
- Expanded settings (4th entry with the orange gear and plus sign)
- Double tab home button
- tick recent apps --> [x]
Now you get an overview of the open apps when you do a double click on the home button.
Why does it not help to see which app is using the most battery in the wearable app? Whas it a 3rd party app? System app?
