I just picked up a Nook HD+ tonight and am coming from an older version of a Nexus 7 and it feels a bit slower and sluggish. Not bad but a slight delay. What ROM would you recommend changing to for the fastest and most stable experience? From what I have seen I am debating between Slimbean and CyanogenMod.
Try both and see what fits you best. BTW, you do know such threads are prohibited here right?

No. I did not realize that it was prohibited. It can definitely be deleted if I have violated any rules. I apologize.
Should probably go in Q and A but while we are at it, ordered my hd+ 32 gig. Good deal for 149. Can't wait to flash it. I know cm 10 works great (stable version); I put it on my wife's nook hd 7". Will definitely give Slimbean a look. The whole trim thing and Evergreen has me a bit confused but have been reading up.

I read it here. Point No.4. Although it's from the Nexus 4 forum, I suppose it should apply everywhere. And I absolutely agree to that point. There is no best or stable ROM. It all depends upon personal choices/tastes. One need to try out ROMs and stick to the ROM which suits best.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=46847787&postcount=1
evergreen's CM10.2 is the smoothest and most stable for me, have tried Carbon, Slimbean and CM10.1. Getting 3-5 hours with light gaming, heavy browsing and 100% brightness over a course of 3-4 days. Currently at 13%, 5d 14h with 4hr 20min screen on time

You may agree with the opinion of that one moderator, but that is just one moderator. The actual forum rules do not say that. And you were not very clear in your original admonition about posting. I and I think everyone else thought you meant don't post it in general vs Q&A.

Apologies for not being clear! I'm just saying that such threads causes unwanted clashes with various users and creates bias towards a particular ROM and the other developers who are working their best gets lesser attention or feedback. I've seen this happen in not just Nexus 4 forum. I still agree with THAT moderator, he's absolutely spot on.
Anyway this is not the Nexus 4 forum as you said. I would never post such a thread in any forum though.
This thread has gone so OT in this case. Feel free to recommend stable/smooth ROMs
I noticed the same and i started a thread like this some time ago and was told to install, try and suck it up
Carbon was very fast and smooth. Their latest rom is from october or something. Join me in requesting the nice people doing it to update it based on cm 10.2 stable! but having tried many roms I extend my thanks to all devs really
Btw, could someone illuminate me on how these similar roms (in their underlying fundamentals) can provide different smoothness/ speed? Are they compiled in a more optimized way or something?
The hd+ screen is great but even cm is a tiny bit laggy - i wonder if it's a matter of optimizing the kernel/os for the platform, or if it's just a hardware limitation.

Which of these roms will make my old heroc that my gf is currently using quicker to the touch with more battery life. she is currently running aospcm 234.
Seriously how much more aosp can you get.... I used my heroc for a whole year either running cm or something by the dev aosp. now I have jaybob, evervolv, kush deck, etc.... Can someone who has used these roms individually from a non biased standpoint tell me which to use and why? (refrain from fanboy banter)
In the meantime I'm going to put kush deck with jaybobs kernel on there.

Depending on the patience level of your girlfriend, you might want to refrain from Jaybob's kernal. The camera is sometimes intermittent.
If she just wants everything to work, you should consider AOSPs froyo, everything is rock solid stable.
I'm currently trying out Deck, I've used all of them and the only quirk that bothers me is sometimes the GPS signal gets lost. I've actually lowered the max cpu settings and it hasn't happened since...but I'm sure it will.

Although I have not yet tried deck, I have tried aosp's , cm7 (not the latest rc, tho), evervolv, and jaybob's. I would say that out out those, jaybob's was the most hassle-free. Just make sure to flash the .29 kernel so to avoid camera issues (which the .35 tends to have ).
Gin & Salsa
Btw, this should be posted in the q&a section.....
Gin & Salsa
I have been on both. Although I used deck longer both Jaybob's and deck were both equally smooth and hassle free. I recently moved to the most recent CM7 release (not nightly) and love it. It's my new daily driver.
Good luck!

Your post in the dev section didn't bother me at all, I just told you it was in the wrong section (as an afterthought...) because there had been quite a bit of hoopla going on lately over that subject (non-dev related posts in the dev section) ... Not so much in the hero c threads, but still. as for getting answered, a lot of knowledgeable people read the q&a section simply because they like helping. You would definitely get answered, maybe not quite as promptly, but definitely.
You can ask a mod to delete the post if you like.
Gin & Salsa
we are here to help thats what xda is for as long as u dont post questions in development your fine if u have a specific question about a rom post it in that roms thread and youll get help alot faster and if it has to do with a bug it helps developers fix the rom to make it better. so please just dont start new threads in development asking questions.

Cool..cool.. anywho I hear ya on the bigger and badder phones. I'm on evo shift now and love it. When I was on heroc still the best rom imo was aosps froyo. Might very well be still. But gf has heroc now and I want to make sure her phone can keep up with mine. honestly the hero gets better cell service then my shift does. anyways back to the point at hand.. The heroc scene blew back up and I'm excited about it. these deck roms have one hell of a reputation from what I'm gathering. But jaybobs sort of specializing in this phone vs the mass produced roms of kush. I wish I could grab some more opinions from you guys if you have the time.

if we make a thread inside the dev section for answering questions it would defeat the purpose of THIS q&a section, wouldn't it.......one way to find out which rom is the most popular would be to scan the number of posts in each rom's thread. For instance, look at the amount of activity in the aospcmod gb thread. Easily the most popular rom.

We don't shut the thread down, it's the job of the moderators. And why do they close the thread down is that the answer that you'll get from that those kind of thread are bias. And also it's a little bit disrespectful to the ROM Developers, because let's say that if someone says ROM "A" is better than ROM "B", the developer of "B" would feel kinda bad etc.....

Sorry if I sound like a jerk, but if you would have searched, you would have seen exactly why the moderators shut down these types of threads. Just the other day someone basically started the same exact thread and it got locked up. Read, flash, and see what you like. Then read some more.
Also, all our captivate's behave a little differently, so Joe Schmo's experience on a ROM might be vastly different from your experience on the same ROM.
And with that I say good day.

Best ROM is the one that works best for you. Try a few out and make your own decision.
I stumbled across this ROM in a Trinity thread and decided to give it a try. After a couple days use with no issues I thought I would see how many others are having success with this ROM. I wonder why it doesn't get the visibility or attention of some of the others that stay near the top of discussion? It's very fast and stable for me without a custom kernel, anyone have in experience with rasbeanjellly long term? I wonder how many other ROMs are out there that are really good but garner small followings compared to the "favorites"?
Its because the rom does not have its own dedicated thread. Rascarlo prefers to kep it in the trinity thread. It is a great rom.

Just like a 'best ROM' thread, this is thread useless. You can easily see what ROMs are the most popular by looking at their threads in the Dev section and seeing the level of activity. Knowing that still doesn't tell you what ROM is best for you. Only you can decide that based on your own needs and usage.
Sorry folks.,
One of the big no-no's is asking which rom is best.
This, can only be answered by installing several roms, and deciding which is best for "You".
One can read the threads, and see which rom has the least issues, and also see what features are best for your needs.
WE can't make that choice for you. If we could, then there would only be "1" rom for all users, based on the highest amount of posts.
In the end, YOU have to decide.
