4.4 Lock screen album Art - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So with 4.4 came the full screen album art on the lockscreen when playing music. Because I converted my HTC One into a Google Edition I am now using the stock music app google play music. The new lockscreen album art is cool BUT one major flaw.........All my album art looks blurry! I know its not a major issue but is there a way to somehow reset the images and get higher resolution album art into this? I downloaded a song from google play to see what it looks like on the lockscreen and it looks amazing and crisp. So......what is up with my music and their album covers?

Anyone?

i believe you have to go into google play music on the web and manage it that way..you should be able to change and take album art off only if you've already uploaded your music on there.

Hi, i´m using the same combination. HTC One reconfigured to GPE with Kitkat 4.4. At mine the resolution of Coverart in lockscreen while playing from Google Play Music is ok. Not blurry.
sorry for not helping you, but it seems not to be a generally problem. Maybe it´s only for self uploaded music?

MixZing MUSIC PLAYER

Finally a new music player. Im testing it out right now. Ive already noticed something it has that I wanted and that bigger album artwork. Its called the mixzing player. And it analyzes your music library and gives you suggestions on music. Its pretty good so far. It won me over with album artwork!!! lol
post some links?
What app are you talking about, I don't see a new music app in the market?
Search for MixZing music player. Its free
Not seeing it in the market, is that where you downloaded it.
Looks like it got removed... I saw it earlier and was going to download it...
I hope it doesn't resurface as a paid app...

Can't find it on the market. Could you please link us to it. Maybe take a back up of it using Astro file manager, upload it somewhere and link us to it. I hope this is not piracy as the software is free right??

thnx man...it works...cheers...!!!
It's Lite => There would be a paid version.
anyone know if scrobbledroid works with non-stock media players?
No it doesn't, which is to be expected, as it is written specifically to the default media player. Just listened to the same song on both default and Mixzing and it was only scrobbled after playing on the default player.
that sucks. I like to have my music scrobbled. (I still haven't figured out WHY though. lol)
Yeah I DL'd MixZing before it disappeared and so far it is pretty nice. I am a stickler for album art and the default player is pretty weak in the aspect. I have TuneWiki too but the artwork results are spotty with that. MixZing appears to be a simple reskin of the native music app with suggestions added and larger artwork plus a slightly nicer UI. I just wish they would work on the image resolution for the album art. Every one looks a little blurry. Other thatn that it is definately an improvement over the stock player.
overall im pretty happy with it, its a bit slow, and thats my only gripe about it. Otherwise, the album covers look nice so does the interface.

Hi,
I also downloaded the lite version from the link inside this post but how do I get the album artwork (the covers)?!
It is the main reason for me for searching for a better music player and I do not see any cover ...
cu
Download link
Thanks for the download! It seems a little bit buggy right now (which may be why it was taken down) There is a lot of potential with this music app.
It currently makes great suggestions with a decent UI.
• Unless you are review the recommended songs, the >>| button only repeats the song.
• Also, when playing the recommended songs, it only plays 30 seconds. - I don't know if this is how it was written or they are using this as a 'preview' to purchase.
• Shows the artist album artwork in the background however, the 'recommendation' field covers most of the image
Thanks again!
Hello,
When I show the recommandation I sometimes get the cover in the backgground of the song.
But how do I get it into the Album list etc.?

For album covers what I do is sync my music onto my sd card through windows media player. If you use advanced tag editor and add your album art there it will encode it into the file when it syncs to your card.

Album picture in the music player

Why the music player doesn't show the picture of the album during playing a song? Only for some is working even if the picture are present on the laptop and are showed in the player of the laptop
Happens to me all the time. I don't know why. All I guess is that windows reads the tags differently than android. I use album art grabber from the market. For a very small price it works very well. Very good and simple app.

I second this
I think it only displays album art that is embeded in a file. No album art that I have as just jpg's in a folder show up.
Shows all my album art for me! You just gotta tag everything correctly, just use mediamonkey or mp3tag.

Rename the art to AlbumArt.jpg and it gets read. Also, if art is not showing up, play a track from the album, and restart the music player.

Hmm, you try the auto tag thingy or are you adding jpgs? Mp3Tag searches amazon for tag info and downloads album art too (i think directly into the mp3) and when it downloads it works for me. Mediamonkey's autotag service seems to be down or something but it was working on friday .
I still think the easiest solution is to use Album Art Grabber. It only costs a few dollars and takes a few seconds to run. Here's a little review of the app. http://htcsource.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=630&Itemid=46
If you have any suggestions for it, the developer is great at responding to feedback. I know he's already working on a few updates that will make it even better.
Album Art Grabber +1
Another vote for Album Art Grabber. Bought it yesterday, works great, super easy. Definately worth the money.
I'm trying too album art grabber and it works perfectly!
I'm nerdy and tagging my mp3s properly, so no need for extra software. I think Windows uses ID3v1 to display info in folders etc. & Android afaik ID3v2. Various applications use different tags, so I'm using both and for the album art to show, the images needs to be embedded too.

How do you think the HTC stock music app compares to third party options?

I've spent the last four hours reading about various music apps and apparently some sound much better than others...
Do most of you use the stock HTC app or something else like PlayerPro, PowerPlay, or WinAmp Pro? Those seem to be the best options, unless Neutron has cleaned up it's UI.
The only real complaint I have is that if you play an artist and then go back to the list it doesn't remember where you were in that list and just puts you at the top.
I've also noticed that friends phones sound better(richer) when they're using PlayerPro, but that could be EQ settings.
So what do you use and what do you like about it?
I don't really care which player plays my music. As long as it can play the files I have I just go with that
The only problem I have with it is that it lacks gapless playback, which I know isn't important to everyone, but it is to me. Oh and you can't manually change your album artwork so they quality of the pictures ends up being pretty low. Otherwise I think it's a pretty big improvement on the Htc One X's, or rather ICS's Sense player.
Playerpro is by far the BEST of all music players I have tried. It has an option for almost anything. I'm almost 100% sure it keeps your place in the list, but it definitely keeps the album you were playing. The players has gapless, the album flow keeps the pictures in memory so you don't get that loading pictures thing when scrolling, lyrics are saveable, album artwork chooosable, and the DSP pack allows even more customization. But other then that i also has a whole bunch of skins to choose from if you get bored of one try another, it's great! It also lets you use the stock music lockscreen with is great. There are so many more advantages to Player Pro, my recommendation
My only gripe is that you do not have a shuffle option in a playlist which is such an easy fix,I hope HTC fix this in a future update.

I was actually wondering about this as well. Such a basic feature and it doesn't have it My year old HoX has it lol.
I have PowerAmp Pro installed but actually prefer the stock music app as I like the lockscreen controls and similar gestures to PowerAmp. I also like how you can access all of your songs from the music player without having to unlock the phone.
As an aside, I am hating the Mail app but only use it due to the lockscreen notifications and don't want to install Widget Locker. Wish there was a way to use the Gmail App and still receive lockscreen notifications.

Walkman app

Hi,
I just sold my iPhone 5s and ordered the Xperia Z2 online.
Is the Walkman app able to play the iTunes m4a format and show the artist, song title, album name, artwork etc. I have over 4000 songs in my iTunes library. All my songs are DRM-free.
I would rather not covert these to mp3 as it would result is loss of sound quality.
Thanks

According to the White paper the Z2 is not able to play this format.

Yes, there're two methods do to it:
1- Menu: "download music infos" (it can be quite long)
or
2- Listen to an album, select "modifiy music infos" and select the image that is in the album folder.

Ok.
Thank for your help. If I find a solution I will post on here.
I believe iTunes stores album artwork slightly differently. It doesn't embed the artwork into the mp3/4 file itself, but rather stores a link to the album art. I guess this means you only have to store album art once per album, rather than once per track. However I've found it breaks compatibility with other apps, as you're finding here.
When you grab album art from within the walkman app, it's embedding it in the mp3/4 file, which is why that works.
Some useful info here: https://discussions.apple.com/message/22652504#22652504
You can use a script if you're on a mac to embed everything, or you can manually embed the artwork in each file, which will then worth fine on your xperia.
Back in th days when I went from my iPhone 4 to Android I found that Album art Grabber was the best and fastest choice for me. The iTunes covers didn't work so I used this method instead. It might take some time but it is worth it
All sorted now.
I used the free version of mediamonkey which found all the artwork automatically.
Thanks everyone for your replies.

Yes, just copy to sdcard... works perfect and shows album cover on my Xperia Z with WALKMAN (best music player!! )
This was my issue when switching from iPhone to Android as well. I went with Google Music All Access and uploaded all my songs and this way I can get whatever songs I want.

Changing Album Art

Hi, my name is Jason. I'm new to this site. First off, I've been reading around the site. Good questions and answers and very helpful.
I recently installed a whole bunch of songs from my laptop on to my G4. Upon opening the music player I realize that only a handful of albums have the album art. I installed around 100 artists and maybe 15 of them have the cd cover art. One of them has only 1 song and when I hold down the default album art, it brings up the option to Change Album Art. So I did. However, when I do that same thing on all the other albums that have more than one song in it, the Change Album Art doesn't even come up as an option.
Am I doing something wrong...or am I just not seeing where I need to do this?
Thanks in advance.
Have you tried running this app?
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.citc.aag
It's been working great on my G4.
Funny enough, I just discovered this app yesterday. I installed it and it works great. Thanks for the response...I appreciate it. I'd still like to know why the music player allowed me to change the album art on 1 or 2 artists, but not on the rest. Seems kinda goofy. Thanks again though.
