I tried to download some apps thru Application Manager, but just as any of them d/lds, I get this Toast popup that reads "Unknown error: -1198374". Apps already on the phone, but not installed give the same error. Google Fu is failing me, finds nothing, same as the xda search. Running V20b.
Are you downloading apps you had before? If yes, were you messing somehow with them (Lucky Patcher or something)?
The prb was SmartShare (not SmartWorld) app frozen with Titanium. It being frozen somehow impaired the whole App Manager What a dumb dependancy.

If I were to "root" the phone, would I be able to get some of the apps to appear in the market again? Right now, links will just say "not found". when 2hrs ago I could get them... before upgrading.
I'm having the same issue. For example, I had the Shared Branching app install the stock ROM but after the ROM update I get a "Not Found" error if I try to install it from AppBrain. As far as I can tell the app still exists in the Android Market.

this is a known issue with the market, and has been for years now.
More and more people will see this as they manually update to 2.2
**correction**
No copy protected apps show up in the market place.

I have no market anymore - help!
I rooted with auto-nooter-2.12.18 and that market was running ok but I downloaded a "new" market app and followed the instructions to replace my old market app. Unfortunately, that didn't work - it installed but wouldn't run. I uninstalled the "new" app.
I have the apk for the market that came with 2.12.18 (I backed it up) but when I try to install it looks like it is going ok and then I get "application not installed". I have tried installing with Apps Installer and I also tried Astro and Root Explorer. I have rebooted in between. Any suggestions?
I have not done "the adb thing" (I am new to Android and haven't tackled that yet). I can't figure out why the market app I had originally won't install again now.
Samsung Captivate SGH-I897
Rooted with Odin
Android Version 2.3.7
Flashed Cyanogen 7.1.0
Kernel Version 2.6.35.12
gapps 2011 0828
After flashing ROM and installing google apps, I get "Server error, Retry" message when trying to connect to Android Market. Doesn't matter if I try connecting using 3g or wifi. When I connect to the Market using my computer, I see all my apps listed as "installed". When I choose to install a new app from the Market using my computer, it shows that it's being sent to my phone, but my phone never gets it. Anybody know what's going on?
Nothing Google is working. Typing a search in the google search box forces web browser to close. Reset phone and entered info for google account, but I get the same error message.
Try this:
Go to Settings>Application>Manage Apps>All
Then scroll down and look for the Market app. Press the app, force stop, then clear data. Do a normal reboot just to make sure. Then see if that fixed it.

Yeah, tried that a couple times. Did it again, just for fun, with same result. Am I using the wrong google apps pack? I'll try a couple different ones. Really want google to recognize my phone again. Currently, no syncing of gmail, calendar, contacts, app updates, etc.
ok. Quick update. Found info on Cyanogen forum that recommended Re-flashing Cyanogen 7.1.0 and re-installing google apps pak. After I did this, my phone asked me to sign in to google accounts, and immediately started downloading all my Market apps. I was excited until, my status bar said "error downloading xxxx" for each and every app it tried to restore. After the 47th app, it finally stopped and gave the error message: "The application Market (process com.android.vending) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again".
As it turns out, about 1/3 of my apps were restored properly. Not sure what to do about the rest.
Ah I'm sorry about that. I had the same problem before and all I did was clear data to fix it.
(For future reference, use titanium backup, downloadable from the market, to backup&restore your apps before flashing a new ROM. Make a copy of the Titanium Backup folder from your SD card and store it on your PC. That way, if you accidentally formatted your SD card, you'll always have a copy of the folder to restore your apps.)

Thanks. I did make a Titanium backup, but needed to install Titanium from the market in order to restore it. As it turns out, after rebooting the phone, the market app is working now, so I just decided to restore the apps I want manually. Currently, I am using my computer to look at my library of apps on the market, and clicking install to restore only the ones I really want. It's nice to see that all the ATT bloatware is available if needed, but it's not being forced on me.
Glad things worked out for you, eventually. Yes, that's a nice feature from AT&T. I don't like their apps it just takes up space. But if I need to sell my phone as stock its nice to have the AT&T apps back

Hello all,
I am now facing the installation problem on Google Maps after my Galaxy Note has been installed "ROCKET-v22-LA4-eybee1970". After I found the Google Maps could not be updated, I have been uninstalled it by using the Titanium backup "free version". Then, I go back to the Market and try to re-install it. Despite many attempts, installation failed with the same box appeared to tell me [Error - Unknown error code during application installation:"-8" ].
Please tell me what to do?
With so many thanks.
I had the same problem. I guess I forgot to convert the Map to "user app" before I deleted it with Titanium backup. (To convert to and from user/system app in TB, long press the Map application and choose convert to user app or vice versa)
When I forgot the above routine and got the same error as you, downloaded http://www.mediafire.com/?qx0x8bu3oag9u0b and installed it. Then converted to system app. Now version 6.3 was updated without any problems through the market as well!
Thanks. It's really worked. With many many thanks.
So I deleted tethering guard after I rooted my phone under the impression from some other forum that would allow me to tether freely. Well its quite the opposite, now when I go to the tethering app, it wont even attempt to turn on, neither will any other tethering apps. I found the tetheringguard.apk file online and attempted to re install it to no avail. I have tried, command prompt, this is the result;
C:\Users\RC\AppData\Local\Temp\Rar$EXa0.371\data>adb install <C:\Users\RC\Downloads>/<Tetheringguard.apk
Access is denied.
I have tried the APK installer app from the play store, it loads via Sim and when I click install it says "Application not installed"
Lastly I tried emailing the apk to my own email and opening it with my phone, that does the same thing as the APK installer app.
I am brand new at all of this stuff so please be patient, and thanks for the help
Also Im using holiday-dream-x2-Rom.
3rd party apps allowed
usb debugging is on.
Remount the system partition as r/w or download one of the ruu.zips and pull it from there

it wont install like a normal app because its a system app, you have to use a root explorer to copy it to the proper location and then make sure it has correct permissions.
Reflash rom, and only wiping dalvik and cache, and you will have it back.
