Considering the complex nature of the android UI I say it's time for a revamped edition of android with advancement in ease of use and minimal UI elements. A rom that contains everything you need ready to with limitation on customization since the aim is to create an efficient system that is truly beautiful while remaining flexible.
Ideas and suggestions much appreciated.
just for understanding well, you're asking suggestions for building a rom, right? from scratch?

Hi guys,
I was thinking the other day about the upcoming Sony-Ericsson Xperia X10, and how cool and different the interface was. This got me thinking.... why couldn't the OSS community produce something like this!
It seems that there are many different and innovative UI's available - XBox360 NXE, PS3, OSX iPhone etc. They all have merits and downsides, but each gives a unique experience.
Given all this, couldn't we come up with a new-age UI for Android, instead of the plan same-old one we have on AOSP now. Somthing which has animation, effects, sexyness etc
This post is to try and see what people would like to see in "Android 3.0", which obviously doesn't exist yet, but I think you get the picture.
well I can think of alot of ideas..but one to start off would be : complete customizeability i.e. customizations on the go such as editing of separate widget elements/colors etc...layout edits/saves/export-imports...different looks/UI styles not just one core style with customizations....
Being a fan of the interface style of ccyrowski's Interface on his rom and it appears discontinued i wondered if any of the devs had any intention or would consider continuing the manilla style interface of the rom on theirs if not would also be interested if i could find an apk with the UI setup. Cant knock the message and email setup on it as well as the near seemless intigration of facebook. appreciate any replies i can get in advance and if this is in the wrong section i apologize ahead of time. Figured best place as would prefer a rom with it built in over the apk and havent got the hang of cooking android roms yet, lot trickier then Winmo lol.

are you asking for an apk that installs the sense UI? that is not going to happen... sense UI is like blur and such. its a specialized type of "overlay" for android. think of it as the rims and tires to a vehicle. it just adds to things. for the NEW sense UI check out eugene373 espresso rom. its the newest out and stable enough for you to at least try.
After learning a bit about editing Android's UI, I've begun to make progress towards converting HTC Sense into a clone of Samsung Galaxy S SmartLife UI. Progress has been somewhat slow, but I only started on October 9th so, meh.
Anyway, if anyone is interested in this project and would like to help out, it'd be greatly appreciated! If you're any good with photo editing (mainly the annoying stuff like removing the gradient backgrounds from anti-aliased images lol), please either post or send me a PM. I'm also available on Steam under the username diss4life.
Attached is some media of my work so far, which I'll be updating regularly as the project progresses.

This article describes the new UI for Android 3.0 Honeycomb. Looking forward to see this work on the G-Tablet.
http://androidcommunity.com/android-3-0-honeycomb-full-preview-guide-user-features-20110130/
From the article:"...Android 3.0 claims to be refining such things as multitasking, home screen customization, widgets, and notifications. All of these items in Honeycomb have been looked at, poured over, and modified – integrated and expanded into this new 3D experience, one that will seem at first to be brand new, but will quickly feel familiar, even when you’ve got your fingers on features that are completely new. Apps written for earlier platforms should translate perfectly well to this new environment, and new apps will have the opportunity to make use of a new set of UI objects, new media capabilities, and more powerful graphics...."

AOKP has some added mods.
AOSP is Android Open Source Project. Its vanilla Android rom, like Google made it. Of course we have made some modification to make it work on our device, but the idea is to keep it as vanilla as possible.
AOKP is Android Open Kang Project. Its alternative to CM, it has some modifications and added features that vanilla Android doesn't have.
So the question is what do you want? Do you want pure Android like Google sees it or do you want added features. I personally prefer vanilla Android.
Ok thanks very much for the detailed answer but i think i like the aokp as i love add-ons and extra finesse
Battery Life...
All things being equal any idea of which might have better life - aokp or aosp? I'm wondering if the extra goodies in aokp consumer more power. I tried both (now on aosp) and either one is fabulous. Aosp seems a tad smoother when comparing at 1.4 GHz (interactive governer).
