Owner of an S4A and I love the phone, it convinced me to leave iphone for good.... until now. I recently installed a new head unit in my truck a Sony XAV-601bt, and when the bluetooth audio connects it asks to complete some action but i don't know what it is. No matter what i do music calls etc work fine on the head unit but for some reason my phone forgets the default launcher (nova launcher) and default music player (rocket) and default SMS app (gosms). I've exhausted google search looking for anything that resets app defaults and only found app managers etc, and i've not found anything related to the radio.
My question is this is there a way to find out what action is being executed so that I can find the correct app for it? I'm thinking that without that action it's causing strangeness with the rest of the phone
here is the screen i get when the phone pairs to the head unit

You need 25 posts before you can post pics or links on XDA. My S4A works fine with my Sony head unit on my Harley. The first time it connected it asked if it could access my contacts. If you somehow skipped that step that might be your problem. You also mentioned what you say are default apps, but those sound like the names of non-stock apps. You may have set them as the defaults, but they may not work properly with other devices expecting to interface with the apps as the phone came from Samsung.

Thnx for the bar code
Has anyone spotted anything outstanding yet? I've not really seen anything I would think would win.
Yesterday I reviewed Drive AR Navigation on the ADC 2 app. Basically it is an augmented reality based Sat Nav system, but use the live video feed from your camera instead of maps. Overlays the insturctions on top of the live video feed. Uses the compass as well as gps. Contains voice directions obviously. Failry awesome. But useless at night as the video feed from my HTC Hero camera is rubbish at night.
i tried ADC2 for a week or so and have been having fun.
but yesterday, when I downloaded an app "YourKey", it crashed my phone and non-stop prompted me "Force Close" and it still did the same even after I rebooted the phone. The home won't load up because it constantly crashed and prompted the "Force Close" so it means I can't even uninstall the crashing App.
At the end i had to hard reset my phone and redid everything which took me hours.
Somehow I believe some of these apps have not been tested thoroughly.
Be careful. Take your own risk. I gave up on that.
This is an article I've been meaning to write for a little while now, since audio on the Ubuntu part of the Atrix is a bit tricky.
The basic idea is this: when in lapdock mode, it would be nice to have a music player that's designed for that form factor. As such, a decent starting point is the default GNOME music management program for Ubuntu 9.04: Rhythmbox.

However, after installing Rhythmbox, three plugin errors pop up. Two of them don't matter much to me (the jamendo and the Magnatune Store ones) and can be disabled, but cover art should work. A bit of Google footwork reveals that installing python-gst0.10 fixes that (and the stores too).
Unfortunately, an attempt to then play a FLAC causes... playback with no sound. Based on a previous post, pulseaudio appears to serve as the audio backbone. Rhythmbox, on the other hand, uses GStreamer, so that connection might not be working properly.
Another Google search ends up bringing up a wiki page that suggests that gnome-media needs to be installed so that we can run gstreamer-properties.
But, the pulseaudio plugin supposedly isn't installed. So, gstreamer0.10-pulseaudio needs to be installed as well.
And, then, finally! It's possible to play music via Rhythmbox! This should also allow any other GStreamer-based programs to output sound as well.
P.S. Yes, I like the occasionally bad joke, as the title implies.
who listens to flac media files anyways
awesome, thanks!
and as you suspected it does fix sound in other apps, like pidgin.
hope you don't mind i added it to my list.

One of my favourite apps is Tasker which allows me to automate parts of my phone. For instance, I get in the car, it turns on GPS, Bluetooth and it starts up my SatNav software. You can find it here.
From the day I had the app, the one glaring problem with it was the UI. It's stuck back in Gingerbread times and a lot has changed since then.
I recently saw a shared post on Google+ from Roman Nurik which showed various mockups of Android apps with a new UI. This made me realise Tasker seriously needs an update and I know exactly how it should look using the Holo design whilst retaining the original layout.
So here it is, my Tasker redesign. I'll be honest, I pictured what this looked like in my head, so I sat down, opened Photoshop and 40 minutes later I had designed something I thought worked great. It's the very first design so could probably do with some community input and refining. Let me know your thoughts.
Original post was from my Google+ Page, however figured I would share it with you here as well as I appreciate not everyone is on Google+

would be awesome! tasker is the best android app ever, but it looks like crap. well, the focus of the app is clearly getting stuff done, but a little bit for the eye wouldnt hurt
My Chinese car head-unit is no longer able to get GPS signal. I have tries all the available maps application and it doesn't work! I also tried a lot of GPS Fix type tools/apps, nothing worked.
At the top of the toolbar it shows the location icon but somehow the location just doesn't work.

Hey did you find a fix for this I have the exact same issue dm me if you did please
Had the same problem in mine. It first started as an intermittent problem, where I'd loose the fix randomly while driving. Later the problem became permanent.
It turned out the SMA socket for the GPS antenna inside the unit was not soldered properly. Once I replaced it the GPS worked perfectly.
Another not an MTCB or MTCD unit
Check the technical part, antenna, and all wires. If everything is in order, follow the advice indicated above, install the old version of the application and prevent its updates.
Hello,
For some time I have been facing some problems on my device, OnePlus 10 Pro (NE2215). I don't know if this is a default behavior of the device or if it could be some configuration.
Case 1:
For example: When I open the AliExpress application, search for an item, click on one and return with the gesture, it should return to my search, but it turns out that it returns to the AliExpress homepage. This is too bad, because I always have to perform the search again. I don't know if I made myself clear, but this problem doesn't happen on my girlfriend's Iphone. When I go back a step, it always goes back to the previous one and not to the first operation I did.
Obs1: I attached the prints of the transitions so that it is clearer to understand.

Case 2:
In addition, whenever I do that command to view how many applications I have open and I select the application I want to use, the software always reloads the application and does not keep it where it was. A good example for this case is when I open the bank application and access the credit card session, for example. When I leave the app open in the background, I open some other app and go back to the bank app again, it reloads the app and goes back to accessing the app. It doesn't keep the app loaded in the session where I was.
Obs2: I didn't put pictures, but I believe it was clear what happens.
#2 I know has been discussed here previously. This phone has an aggressive RAM cleaning and does not like background apps. You can actually make it store more if you add the swap, i.e. give your phone the "additional" 8GB of RAM in settings from storage. But this is only a bandaid solution. Iirc you can slso change some SeLinux permissions to alleviate the issue if you're savy.
#1, idk. I've had some unique behaviors myself on OOS. For example the Dasher app is absolutely terrible.
