My school uses gmail to supply our email..
So even though our account is not @gmail.com
Could I still use it for my primary account on my nexus one?

I would imagine so. You should be able to use any Google account.
Be careful using a Google Apps account. If you ever leave the school you'll need to migrate everything over (and I don't even know if this is possible). Instead set up a personal Gmail account, and then add the school as a secondary.

Good advice since I think your paid apps are connected to the account used to buy them. You're not gonna be in school forever, so create your own personal account.
if i'm not mistaken we keep our account pretty much forever..
That was how it worked pre google anyway.. I dunno if that changed or not though
i have used google apps account as primary account before. However, here are a few things you should be careful about
1) As mentioned above, purchases are tied to primary account only. When i moved to gmail as primary account, i had to repurchase apps
2) Gtalk supports primary account only. So your primary account should be the account you use to sync contacts. else gtalk integration won't be of any use to you.
3) Google voice works on gmail account only. So if you want google voice to integrate with contacts, you have to use gmail as primary account
4) Fortunately FROYO allows syncing calendars on secondary account, but if you are 2.1, you can only sync primary account
Overall, I will advise you to use gmail account. you never know what features you may need in the future and gmail account will always have better support than google apps.

I, too, have a school-related gApps account that I need to relinquish next year and a personal Gmail account. However, due to the way my organization's gApps is set up, I need to use it as my primary account in order to fully utilize its features. (Specifically, I share my personal Gmail's calendars/mail/docs into my gApps calendar/mail/docs; the reverse is not fully possible with our organization's gApps setup.)
So anyway, even though I'm on Froyo, I have my gApps account as the primary for the reasons above since I originally set up the phone on 2.1 and my calendar is on my gApps account. This basically sucks, though, since all of my paid apps and other personal Android-related information (Wi-Fi password backups, bookmarks, etc.) reside on my "temporary" account.
However, I find that Google Voice, Gallery/Picasa, etc. still work fine as long as I have my personal Gmail account listed as a secondary. I can even switch between my personal and gApps account in Maps.
In summary, if at all possible, I also recommend using a personal account as primary. If you can't, then you can join me in hoping that Google eventually provides some way to transfer paid apps and settings...
All,
Hopefully someone has seen this before... I have two google accounts, one for my business (google domain account) the other personal (standard gmail account). Because a lot of my phone contacts are business related I keep my phone address book in my business account but my Market Apps purchases are from my personal account..
The setup works perfect except when it comes to the address book contacts..
I have found if I add my personal account first and then my business account the contact is associated via my personal account even although I have not enabled address book syncing..
If I add my business account first then my personal account second already paid for apps in the marketplace are no longer available..
All in all pretty frustrating... I am guessing this is a bug anyone else seen this or better still got a nice work around...
Hi, I am a new android user. I am having problem getting my google calendar (web) to sync with the phone. It doesn't show the option for me to select and sync the calendar with my google account. By the way I have 2 google account. Once is for random junk and the other is for school. So far the the captivate only lets me sync the Calendar with the junk account but not the other account for school. I tried removing the account and adding it again it would only let me sync mail and contacts but no calendar option. I was thinking of removing my junk account but it says that I need to do a factory restore which I don't want to do. Has anyone run into this problem? I search but couldn't find anything similar.
Is it possible to add another google calendar account to the calendar in the nook? I currently have my main account selected but i'm not able to add another (my works google account calendar).
I've been reading around and i'm still not sure if it's possible.
Thanks in advance
Hi all,
tried a search but had no results for my particular question.
The thing is: I would want to use the GMail app for a specific account. But I'm afraid the Google account I use in GMail will pop up in other apps such as Market and such. So: when I add an account to GMail is that account used in _only_ GMail or will it be stored as a Google account on the device?
Thanks in advance,
Marc
