Ok, I have been reading and want to root this bad boy but everywhere I read I get confused. Don't flash using kingo. Use root de la vega but if your on MJ5 like me then don't use de la vega. So, what do I do? I want to root, and run xposed but I also want to do it correctly. Did I mention that I'm on MJ5?
Please, any help would be nice.
Just use Kingo... I used it with no issues other than the custom padlock showing at boot.
And you can get rid of the padlock after you install a few tweaks using wanam xposed.

Yeah everyone is so afraid of Kingo. Just do it. I did it weeks ago and enjoying my root.

There s no version 2 yet. I think it's up to 1.1.5. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Hi
Please follow the below steps
Step 1. First, make sure you have either SM-N9005, SM-N9006, SM-N900, Korean SM-N900S, Canadian SM-N900W8, Sprint SM-N900P, or T-Mobile SM-N900T model Note 3. If your model is not listed, try CF Auto Root instead.
For AT&T Galaxy Note 3 SM-N900A root method, see How to Root AT&T Galaxy Note 3 SM-N900A!
For Verizon Galaxy Note 3 SM-N900A root method, see How to Root Verizon Galaxy Note 3!
Download the following files:
Download appropriate CWM or TWRP recovery for your Note 3 (Make sure you download the CORRECT version for your Note 3 model!!!)
Download ODIN program and unzip.
Download SuperSU zip file
Download and install Samsung USB drivers
Step 2. Turn off your Note 3.
Step 3. Hold down, Volume Down, Center Home, and Power buttons together for about 2-3 seconds then let go of all buttons when you see a warning screen:
Then hit Volume Up button to enter Download mode.
Step 4. You should now see Download mode. This is the ODIN download mode where you can use ODIN to install custom recovery.
Step 5. Plug a micro-USB cable from your Note 3 to your computer.
Step 6. Run ODIN program you downloaded earlier in Step 1. (only for Windows or use VMWare on Linux/Mac).You should see a yellow-highlighted box with a random COM number in ODIN program. If you do not see it, download and install Samsung USB drivers then unplug/re-plug the micro-USB cable. Also, you may have to use a USB 3.0 cable supplied with your Note 3, try plugging it in a USB 3.0 port first and if that doesn’t work plug it into a regular USB 2.0 port. One of them should work.
Step 7. DO NOT TOUCH ANYTHING ELSE but choose “PDA” in ODIN program then find the CWM recovery .tar file you downloaded earlier then hit Start button.
Step 8. Your Note 3 should now reboot. When rebooted, copy the SuperSU zip file you downloaded in Step 1 to your Note 3 internal storage.
Step 9. Turn off your Note 3.
Step 10. Hold down, Volume Up, Center Home, and Power buttons together for about 6-7 seconds then let go of all buttons.
Step 11. You should now be in CWM recovery. Choose “Install zip”, then “Install from sdcard”, then choose the SuperSU zip file you downloaded earlier.
Step 12. Reboot and your Note 3 should be rooted. You can verify by downloading and running Titanium Backup app from Play Store.
But if you use cf auto root you will trip Knox and you will void warranty.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Just use Kingo, it's safe and it works with no KNOX tripping. You can also revert it if you choose to go back to stock unrooted.

If you are worried about voiding your warranty, then you shouldn't root your phone..
For those worried about Kingo this is copied from their current user agreement. So if they violate it then you have a case for a law suit against them..
5.5 Android ROOT DOES NOT contain any malicious codes aimed at undermining user data and accessing users private information, or any function codes monitoring and tracking user computer, DOES NOT monitor users online and offline behavior, collect any user information of other software and documents, or disclose any private information.
If they where fishy as some around here say they would not include that paragraph in their own agreement to hang themselves with..
Would Kingo work for the att note 3 ?

4. Disable security apps
5. Usb driver installed on your pc(adb+fastboot)
6. Download root tool.www.mediafire.com/?cnvohexs662qvo9
Steps

Galaxy Music to the PC using
original USB cable.
Step 2: Now, from the folder
where you have extracted the
“Root Tool”, double-click on
“RunMe.bat” file to launch it.
Step 3: Next, when the application
opens up, it will ask you which
type you want to run, it is advised
that you select “Normal” entering
“1”.
Step 4: Now, follow all the on-

Hi - is this working on GT-S6010 too?
How to do a Nandroid Backup?
.... i tried without Nandroidbackup, cause dunno how to do and my deamon seems to run forever
How long will it take usually?
any ideas?
At deamons "click RESTORE" my Mobile asking for a Password wich i don't know? (left fields blank and it seems no problem that it's blank)
Edit: Got it running through all now - my Problem been wrong USB settings ( had PTP - MTP is needed).
But still no root-access after all ...
hmmm... only ran through it one time - but as i said no root after it - now always forever running deamon again ...hmmm
Do i need Custom Recovery to do Nandroid Backup to get it all working?
And where can i/we find it?

Has ANYONE successfully rooted this phone (S6010/S6012)?
Right now it seems to be mostly people asking others to try some method or other and then waiting to see if anyone reports success before trying it themselves.
If anyone has rooted it, please provide detailed method of rooting with screenshots if possible for this particular phone
@rahulsnair, the method you have posted on various threads does not work. I have tried it multiple times (on S6012), it always gives the
mount: permission denied (are you root?)
error.
Has anyone tried the method on here:

Here's what it says
While searching for a method to root the JB build for the yarvik tablet of my family (usual methods have not been successful), i stumbled upon the following Windows based method that now i want to share and should work with a lot more devices:
On your PC:
1. Install USB/ADB drivers from your manufacturer's website
2. Install & connect via http://www.moborobo.com Management Tools, loads own device specific ADB-drivers
3. Download & install this Chinese piece of software from http://www.shuame.com/
In case you don't understand what you do:
- On Website press blue download-button with arrow pointing downwards
- During Installation uncheck every checkbox except the one that grays out the next-button upon unchecking
the download has been a bit slow for me (10kb/sec), if it fails or the take it offline: drop a comment, perhaps i can share the setup file somehow
4. On your device: turn on USB-debugging
On your PC:
5. Run Moborobo Software, then plug your device to USB-Port, wait until Moborobo has recognized it (in my case i had to click some dialogues...)
6. Run freshly installed software from Shuame.com (titled Ë¢»ú¾«Áé in my start menu)
7. When shuame-Logo appears on your device's screen, head on the windows-software towards the 4th icon in the top row; on the appearing screen click on the 4th icon in the 2nd icon-row (the android with some chinese signs + ROOT as title)
on your device:
8. download SuperUser (or superSU) from Market or install via other sources (if not already done)
9. replace asian root / su files (recognized as older versions) with newer ones by SuperUser or superSU
10. delete 2 chinese shuame-APKs from /system/apps directory or uninstall via Titanium Backup
11. => you're done.
if more than 10 People complain they can't find the right button's to click
then i'm willing to post a few screenshots...
else: have fun!
oh, and if this worked for you: drop a comment and let the others know!
PS: props go out to the yarvik forum where i found this: http://forum.yarvik.com/showthread.php?4243-root-after-upgrade-to-4-1-1&p=12972&viewfull=1#post12972

I purchased the AT&T version of the Galaxy Note 3 a little less than a week ago and, to be honest, I'm not really keen on it. There are a number of reasons, but what it boils down to is that I just don't think I like it all that much. I've already sold my Galaxy Note 2, so I'll have to figure out what I'm going to do about a cell phone, but that's something beyond the scope of this particular posting. What I need help with is how to unroot this device. I used the Root De La Vega procedure very shortly after it came out and it worked like a charm. I noted that when the phone boots up, there is the word "Custom" and an unlocked padlock. How do I get this AT&T model of the Galaxy Note 3 back to the condition, more or less, of when I bought it about a week ago so that I won't have any issues getting the refund processed? I've heard some people requesting help with unrooting and they've been told to use the unroot in SuperUser. Will this get rid of the "Custom" wording on boot-up AND the unlocked padlock? If not, is there a way to get this back to the way it was or am I just out of luck since I only have about another week to return this device. Obviously, if I'm stuck, I'm stuck and I'll find a way to live with it. Who knows...I might actually get to liking it down the road when some of the quirks have been worked out. However, if there's a way to sort all of this out in a timely manner where there's no muss or fuss, that would be the ideal solution. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not super familiar with the unrooting process, but try to unroot using SuperSU and reboot a couple of times to see if it goes away. If that doesn't work then flash the original firmware with odin and that should do it. Pretty easy to do from what I understand.

Perhaps this is showing my ignorance, but since the AT&T Galaxy Note 3 has a locked bootloader (which, as of yet, has not been unlocked), would that prevent Odin from flashing a new image? If I don't need an unlocked bootloader to flash with Odin, do you know where I might find the original image that came with my phone from AT&T in a format that Odin can flash? I haven't tried the SuperSU yet since I want all my options readily available so that if one fails, I can move on to the next one.

To my understanding you can flash anything with Odin on a locked bootloader phone that is "signed". If you give me a few minutes I'll help you look for the original odin file to flash.

I really appreciate your help. Every time I've used Odin in the past has involved a phone with a non-locked bootloader (as far as I know) so this is new territory for me.

yes to both (restarted 5 times). since i was already so far into the root process, I added the files to the sdcards that are in the root steps, and the lock went away. Then I finished rooting.
went back and did one click again and still had the lock after rebooting 5 times. Thought about how it went away after adding the files so I skipped through the phone setup, enabled USB debugging again and added a dummy file to the sd card (a .csv I had on my desktop) and then removed it. Rebooted, and the lock was gone.
I'd use the padlock hack in Wanum and hide the root apps via Nova Launcher just to stick it to ATT and return it rooted.

Is there a method to root the Verizon LG G2 (VS980) on the stock OTA Kit Kat 4.4.2 build yet?
I bought the phone used, already had the OTA on it...now I just need root.
Not interested in Rom'ing, just need tethering without the $30/month charge for the few times I use it and need root to do it.
Thanks!

ioroot25 should still work...
I'm considering a G2 also and have been wondering the same. From what I gathered you would have to go back to 4.2.2 first, gain root, and then flash back to 4.4.2. Someone correct me if I'm wrong please.

You don't have to. Ioroot25 will root the official kk. That's what I used and it worked without an issue. Just make sure all the proper drivers are installed on your computer...

As far as that goes, how is installing the LG G2 unified drivers supposed to go? I found the download link for them in the main 200 page thread for this. Extracted the zip, but none of the .exe files do anything when run. Is that normal or is something wrong? For example I tried running InstallUSB64.exe but absolutely nothing happens.
Another more recent post on like page 185 of the thread had another download link, but that just leads to a file called "LG" with no extension and it doesn't appear to be a .zip

Nevermind, got it. The link to the driver is at the very bottom of this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=53128251&postcount=1847
You have to add the extension .exe
Root successful with the instructions listed there. Used ioroot25. Running android 4.4.2
Is root all I need to flash Roms? Do I need to unlock the boot loader as well?

No you will need to root and then install custom recovery. Depending on what you are on. If you are on kitkat you can use autorec, and anything earlier you can use flashify.

I am not sure about the question but I know when you root this phone there is a trip where it will show in the lg menu that it is rooted. In order to get rid of that you will have to return to stock. Tell you though I have had this phone for a few months now and I am glad i finally decided to root and put custom recovery on. Its my phone and set up the way I want with root and all.

no problem. If you want a nice working asop rom check on Vanir 4.4.3
I'm having a hell of a time trying to get this thing to root. I followed all of the instructions for installing the LG device drivers and when I go to run the IOroot25 it flashes really quickly and then goes away. USB debugging is enabled and I have tried it in ethernet mode and charging mode. Both produce the same result. Do I need to remove any other drives I might have on my computer in order to get it to work? Any other ideas?

You need to be in Ethernet mode.
Once it boots into recovery, did you scroll down and select "install from adb"?

Yeah, I had everything setup correctly and it didn't work. Tried the same exact thing on another computer and it worked flawlessly. Thanks though!

Im having problems rooting it as well. I installed the latest drivers 1.14 I believe, and when trying to root it using ioroot25 it says downgrade to a previous version.
I do have it on Ethernet mode, and it reboots it into recovery, but that's it. I select apply update from adb but again, on ioroot it does nothing after the suggestion to downgrade.
any suggestions?
Make sure your phone is setup. Debugging mode is set. Unknown sources is set. Phone is on airplane mode. Plug into computer and start ioroot25 and follow steps

Guys just use towelroot to root. You install an app and push a button.

Guys
I have a SM-900A on MJ5, not rooted, on ultra mobile (t-mobile)
1. software update says there is no update available.
2. i tried 240258.zip (or something - renamed to update.zip) in sd card...Install from external storage...gives me some error about keys not matching, wipes /data and reboots
The guide to go up to 4.4.2 over here uses a UrDroid rooted 4.4.2 after safestrap. But that was back in Apr 2014 when towelroot was not available.
Where can i just download the correct update.zip and do a stock upgrade to 4.4.2? i do want to root after it but i am assuming towelroot should work without a hiccup. Am i missing something here?
Thanks
I JUST did this same dance. Don't follow any other instructions except for the "Ready to update to KK from JB" guide laid out here. You'll be incredibly pleased ha. So easy and hiccup free. Use Geohot's root toolbar to get you started! Good luck! PM me if you have problems
EDIT: Guide is here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2710972

From what I've read, everyone who deviates from that guide has problems. You might Hey lucky and not, but I'd just go roti the easy method. Took me all of five minutes
