I'v been trying to install iGO 8 or iGO 2006 on my new HTC Touch Pro.
It seems to install just fine from the SD card, but when I try to start-up, nothing happens. The "loading" symbol appears for a few seconds, then ... nothing.
Can anyone pls help?
Thank you so much.
LE: I am using ROM version: 1.90.401.1 WWE
update to newer version (8.0.0.44366) or disable HTC home from Today

its all ok, just post your question in the touch pro section.
But I think its not necesary, u already have the answer.
Moved to Raphael, aka Touch Pro, Forum.
HTC Touch Pro do not seem to have HTC Home. In the "Today" settings, there is the HTC Touch Flo enabeled. I tried to runn iGO with it desabeled, but no succes.
So, I think there must be some other way...
Install iGo8, then search for the latest update. Install the latest update, remove the iGo8 Today plugin in Setting > Today > Items, and add a link in the "Programs" tab of TF3D. That should do it (works fine on my Touch Pro)

Thank you so much!!!
Got it working now....
Just a quick question, does it work in landscape mode on the touch pro?
Uhm, I don't know why it isn't working for you because on my Touch Pro it works great. Just installed it, copied the appropriate files for my country (the Netherlands) into the appropriate dirs as mentioned in the readme and that's it. Uhm, no, I had to set the GPS on com4 in iGo8 to get the gps working but that was all I had to do.

Just tried it. Works great in landscape too.
Can you confirm that the maps render and scroll smoothly when navigating now unlike the jerky movement you have with the Kaiser?
I can't compare with the Kaiser, I never had one. But map scrolling seems ok to me.
Hmm I got the same problem.. How do you actually update it?
I just bought my htc pro touch so bear with me please.
i installed it. everything seemed fine, i click on it, i get a loading icon, nothing happens.
Keyboard?
Hi,
iGO8 seems to work, but I can't get the hw keyboard to function. Not one key seems to respond. Does everyone else have this problem?
Thanks,
Cheers,
Cacti
i dont understand why there are reported problems with the gps software on this phone. is there anything outhere that just works , without tweaks or anything of the sort?
is the co pilot 7 better than igo8? in terms of usability by someone who doesnt understand how all this works
I have tested iGO8, TomTom 7, and Garmin XT. All work fine on the Touch Pro (but I did not test hardware keyboard input).
In my case, I found Garmin to have the best GPS performance: only 2-3 seconds lag behind my separate Garmin nuvi 760 unit, and <30 secs for first fix most of the time. iGO and TT are a little slower but still work fine -- but other people find iGO or TT to work very well.
Other thoughts: TT has the most detailed roadmaps, iGO and Garmin are average. But I find Garmin has the best POI support. iGO (and I think TT, also) supports TMC but (so far) it cannot be activated on the Raphael. Garmin does not have TMC but can download traffic from its servers via your data connection (3G, EDGE, etc). For me, Garmin is a solid middle-of-the-road software; the only major drawback is no TTS, which iGO and TT both have.
I haven't tested Co-Pilot 7, but since it's based on iGO core (iirc) I probably won't try it. But of course, you should try demo maps or at least read reviews to find out which software is good for you.

To help clarify, there are two separate issues. The first is that many GPS software comes on SD cards that are intended to be kept on the SD, or on CD to be installed to main device memory, though if you buy it you have every right to install it to your Raphael. Since the Raphael only has microSD, you may have to install the program in a certain way to get it running. You also have to be careful of the software version, since not all are compatible with WM6.1. (These issues come up all the time among people pirating the software.)
The other issue is about the GPS receiver in the Raphael. Lots of people are trying different tweaks to get the best performance (ie: no lag) out of their receiver. But it's unclear if it's a problem with a weak antenna, or if certain programs (iGO, Garmin, TomTom) run better/worse on the Raphael. The results have been somewhat mixed but we're gradually figuring everything out.
Hi, I am trying to install IGO 8 on the HTC touch Pro, Raphael. The installation seems ok but when I launch the program, nothing happens. The rainbow circle shows up but then nothing. I am wondering what I am doing wrong. Could someone please advise?
Thanks in advance.

Just install a newer wersion: 8.0.0.44366 or 8.0.0.54000 and it will work just fine.
I've been using igo with my topaz since a long time without problem.
I upgrated with the official HTC Rom WM 6.5 Fr
I upgrated igo with the latest 8.3.4.102680.
Everything works but impossible to hear the sound...
i tried several uninstall and reinstall but without success...
i tried several release of the french tts voice ( 2.2 to 2.6b...)
In fact i heard the voice only one time but never since...
Does anyone ever have this problem?
Does anyone know how to 'activate" TTS ? i remember that at the really first install igo ask me "are you agree to install ttsloq..." but it never came back since.
despite delete all igo files on sd + soft reset + reinstall
Sorry for my poor english but hope that someone can help me because...
...a gps without sound is like a car without wheels... or like ppc without xda...
Many thanks by advance..
Does iGo8 work for you with a non-TTS voice?
If it does, then I have the same problem and I think it is caused by the memory requirement of the TTS voices in iGo8 being quite high.
In WM6.1 I would sometimes lose the TTS voice while a non-TTS one would be OK, and after closing applications and freeing RAM, or a soft reset, the TTS voice would work again.
In WM6.5 I cannot get the free RAM high enough for TTS to work.
Regards
Filbert
i have the same problem here... it works with no tts voices
Hi, I have same problem, at the begining, program work OK, and with TTS sounds Ok, but after that, only time to time it work.
I have check that if we disconnect Manila, (you know config, sytem, home, uncheck htc manila sense). then we have more ram available, and IgO work OK, with TTs voice.
Just an option for me.
Regards,
Hello everyone,
I've just tried MotoNav and iGO My Way Navigation programs on my galaxy s and there is an incredible lag problem... The program is very very slow, I can't even click settings and change settings...
Is there anyone else using these programs and having same issue?
And which navigation program do you prefer on your Galaxy S?
i didn't like IGo the interface so i switched to CoPilot
you can always try the lag fix, to see if that helps to speedup the IGo performance

I suggest CoPilot, but there are many more
i have a Galaxy tab 2 7.0 GT-p3100,
I have tried out a cracked version of iGO navi and it appears it has some problems with the guide sound. I tried varius languages but its just not talking at all, sometimes it says something when i start the route but its only a very short sound or word. and i have tried uninstalling and using other cracked iGO versions. There is one thing though when installing the iGO you need to chose a resolution, the default resolution for the tab 7.0 is 1024x600, but it does not work because the navbar is in the way so i used the 960x540 res.
any kind of help appriciated and please dont tell me to buy the iGO nav, i am just trying it to see if its worth buying.
it worths buying if you are an hardcore driver, becuase igo primo is the best nav app which gives you the control of car info on the road, unfortunately i dont know how you can buy it, as far as i know its not for sale....
the problem you have is more likely to be from the rom installed in your device. many custom roms during deodexing or some implementations are breakinbg the sound links and codes, means igo wont remember your choices and either you must input them each time you start it, which is disgusting, or you must install a stock rom and root it. such problems are seen mostly in tts related sound playback and because i couldnt manage to correct these, i just flashed stock rom. prefer to have less headaches and enjoy igo primo instead of mess up everything..

Thanks for the reply but i think i will just stick to the rom and use the Navigon navigation because its working gr8 but i like the iGO better because of the interface and the smoothness it has. Oh well the Navigon will just have to do
You can visit that site: gps underground, there you can find many customizable skins for Igo primo for Android.
