Looking for the gsm Dev edition 4.4 recovery. I boot loader unlocked and installed twrp to flash supersu, but now I want to go back to stock recovery for OTA ability and I'm not positive the recovery is any different from the other moto x versions.
Thanks!

I read your post, what is the issue? I have the same device and the stock firmwares are available for you. I am confused. You can get the proper images needed and flash through fastbooot. Your bootloader is unlocked so it's possible.

Then download the stock restore package, use Moto's Fastboot, and only flash the recovery image.

You will get them but you won't be able to upgrade through ota, it will result in bootloops. Ota's requires the stock recovery to flash

So when I get an update could i just fash the stock recovery back, and then put a custom recovery after the update
Or is it easier to use fastboot to get the update
Also do Motorola provide the files somewhere, I can't seem to find them

Yes you could flash the stock recovery, you may also have to flash system back depending on what you have modified, also you must unroot. Here's the firmware thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2538394

No problem, if you decide to use rsdlite please remove only the getvar line in the XML file, do not remove the gpt.bin line or you'll end up hard bricking your device,

I have Verizon MOTO X DE
4.2.2 using TWRP
I had lots of issues (cause I'm stupid) getting it loaded. Anyway... I want to revert back to stock 4.2.2, update to kitkat then load the exposed framework.
Can someone point me in the direction of how to accomplish that?
Thank you!

OK wait... Told you I was stupid.
TWRP is what gives me root? So when I created my backup before installing TWRP something went wrong and I've not been able to revert back to stock to upgrade to kitkat
How can I do that?
Sent from my XT1060 using xda app-developers app
there's no need to take the ota because the fxz is available:
http://sbf.droid-developers.org/phone.php?device=0
download the vzw 4.4 file and flash with either moto fastboot or rsd lite. please don't ask how to do this, there are many tutorials available.
btw, you can flash all partitions if you want, but really need to flash only boot, system, and radio (NON-HLOS.bin).
Thanks!

You're right, I didn't fully answer your question there are a bunch of SafeStrap threads out there and a few of them have the answers you're looking for, but not the one I linked to.
Since we have a locked bootloader we cannot flash things that aren't signed by Samsung. SafeStrap gets around this by redirecting everything to a different data partition. Unfortunately it can only do this after the kernel loads, and since there's no way to flash a different kernel you're stuck with the stock kernel on your phone. This is important.
You can only flash ROMs that work with the stock kernel on your phone. So since you are on MF3, you can only use ROMs that are based on 4.2.2 TouchWiz. If you're on MI2 then you can flash 4.3 TouchWiz-based ROMs. So you are very limited as to what you can flash.
As for not being able to get ROMs to work, you need to make sure you have enough free space when creating a ROM slot, 4-5 GB should be plenty. You cannot share apps or data between different ROM slots so be careful with your space. You should be able to get the GPE ROM to work, I'm using it right now. So completely delete your ROM slot 1 and recreate it. Then follow the steps exactly as they are written in the thread I linked to and make sure you flash the proper module files for your phone.
If you have any other questions, let me know.
Ty for being more in depth in ya answer and that... I have tried the gpe room three times and it never boots it goes to Android stock recovery..

Three questions:
What stock firmware are you on?
What version of SafeStrap are you using?
What modules are you flashing afterwards?
If you could link to everything, including the ROM it would be helpful.
I'm on mf3, safe strap 3.71,gpe 4.2.2 listed in thread with roms that are working with safestrap... Mf3 master patch as listed in thread that supposed to contain all the files in one

I think SS 3.71 is for 4.3, you need SafeStrap 3.65, for 4.2.2

You need to be using SafeStrap 3.65 if you're on MF3. 3.71 is for 4.3 stock ROMs (MI2). One you do that everything should work just fine.
U were correct 3.65 safe strap worked ...currently using the Google play edition as my main os and must say it brought this phone to life ...its much snappier and responsive then it was stock rooted....

Make sure you disable the AT&T updater on your stock ROM just in case they try to push an update and lock your phone down.
Well using the gpe I don't have speaker phone...I can hear them but my mic won't work ...know I flip it back to earpiece my mic works ...what up with that ??? Anyone else with that issues ???

There are two known issues with GPE, read the thread they've been talked about in depth. Also that thread is probably where this question belongs.
As you've reported this is one of the known bugs, there is no fix. The other is that you cannot see your phone's storage from a computer when connected via usb. Again there is no fix.
Please post all ROM-related questions in their respective threads.
Hi all. I have it on pretty good authority that we'll be seeing a 4.4.4 update soon.
I'm currently stock rooted, s-off and unlocked but have twrp as my recovery. I'm curious how I can go back to stock recovery top new ready to accept the upcoming ota.
Thanks in advance.

Quick search for "Return to Stock" took me here: Stock Backups + OTA's
It will literally probably be only hours after release that you will be able to download the update here on the forums. No stock recovery required. Can't wait that long?

What you need is to flash a rom as close to stock as possible (you can find stock backups here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2736048 ) and then flash a stock recovery (theres one on here somewhere, if you cant find it ill post one ). Once the OTA comes itll notify you and you can take the update. As long as you're s-off you can then install your custom recovery again and you're good to go.
Im like you i guess, i like to keep an factory OTA on hand myself. Hope this helps.

So I'm planning to root my X for the first time and I'm on stock 5.1.
As long as I remain on stock the moto features do not get affected right?
Also, if I am on stock rom but rooted, will it affect any future OTA?
Sent from my XT1095 using XDA Free mobile app
The stock features remain unchanged after root.
You can't take an ota with root. You have to be 100% stock for updates to work.
Sent from my XT1095
Its worth noting that you can just fastboot flash the system prior to taking an OTA to allow it. No need for a full factory reset or anything.

Also, how do I check the status of my bootloader? I've got a pure edition. Pardon me for the stupid question but I've never used a device other than a Samsung which were pretty straight forward to root.
If by any chance I need to come back to stock rom what would the steps for that be?

1) Power off phone; 2) Tap and briefly hold Power and Volume Down. The bootloader version will show at the top of the next screen.
