I'm thinking of buying the Klipsch S4A for my GN2 but before I splash out the money I'd like to know if anyone have any experience with these in-ears. How are the audiophiles? And if it's fully compatible with GN2? Thx all!

People claim they are awesome. I own a pair and do not think they are that great. Nothing, IMO, beats a pair of over the ear headphones. $100 bucks is pricey too for a pair of earbuds. The quality seems to be quite low, too. I replaced them twice before buying a pair of headphones.

I'm using Audio Technica ATH-CKM500 based on rave reviews from Head-Fi... They sound great no issues.
Pretty affordable considering....

I have them and I love em. They sound better than any other earbuds ive owned.
I have the image s4's. I would say they are fairly average in that range. Etymotics have better fidelity but less bass.
The sound profile of these changes completely once you get a set of comply foam tips on them. Seal is better, bass is punchier, mids and highs aren't as grating and they fit my ears a lot more comfortably.

I use my GR07 MK2 (neutral) almost exclusively, but my partner owns a pair of ckm500 and they're very "fun" & easy to drive. A little too "boomy" and no where near quick enough for me, but keep in mind this is coming from someone who enjoys quick precise BA/ BA like dynamic iems
Edit: I'd also throw Yamaha's EPH-100 into the mix. They can be had for ~$100, but their difficult to find.

In-Ear Monitors (IEMs) can most certainly be worth the price, plenty of professional musicians using them onstage quite happily. For great info on headphones check a musician or audiophile source, I like head-fi.org, here's a buying guide they keep updated:
http://www.head-fi.org/a/buying-guide-headphones-by-price-range
also check http://www.gearslutz.com/board/ which is a music engineering forum, I'm sure there's some good info there.
When I decided to get a nice pair of over-the ear headphones I took my ipod to Guitar Center and started taking headphones out of boxes and trying them out. A musician-based store will understand needing to audition the gear, and I ended up spending $150 on a pair of KKRs that I love, which I use with my Viewsonic Gtab. I routinely hear things in songs I've never heard before with this setup.
There's another thread in this forum about using external USB Digital-Analogue Converters (DACs) with the HDMI port to get even better sound, but then you start running into the quality of your files, lossy(mp3) vs lossless(flac), etc.
FWIW At work I love my cheap Sony plugs, surprisingly nice sound for under $20.
DOH. Didn't even see that everyone else was linking to head-fi.
A good pair of IEMS can sound better than Over the ears cans, here are mine http://www.head-fi.org/t/596573/new-toy-iems-and-music-player-d#post_8156648 been using it with the S3, iPhone 5, and now the Note II and so far soooo good
these are http://audioearz.com Cheap but high quality !!!!! i just recently upgrade mine from AUD-5x to AUD-7x
im using stock headphones that came with the note 2. listening to it with power amp and bass and treble turned higher, it sounds amazing.
Hey! Thanks for all the replies! What I'm after is a decent pair of IEM with the mic and volume controls which is fully compatible with the GN2. The stock one aren't that bad but I'm looking for something with better audiophile but has to have the hands-free function as well. The S4A II seems to be the only one that fits the job right now. I've looked at JAYS but not so sure about brand. When I really just want to listen to music, I use my custom fit pair of UE.

I use a pair of Sony XBA-2vp. Dual balanced armature IEMs with mic control for Android. Volume control is through an analog slider though.
IIRC it got decent reviews on Head Fi. Although if there was a XBA-3 with Android controls, I would have probably bought that instead.

Can any one recomend a reasonable set of bluetooth headphones ? Preferbly not to expensive mainly used for jogging/the gym
Thanks in advance

and
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-HM3700-Bluetooth-Wireless-Headset/dp/B0052XQFKE (better details)
be careful with the packaging as it contains a bonus dongle that lets you use your favorite earbuds with the samsung BT receiver, if you lose or dislike the samsung buds. I almost accidentally tossed mine out.
I prefer them for walking/exercising and the have a small clip to fasten to your collar etc. Audio quality FAR better than the motorola BT wraparound headphones I had.

I own three pairs of these, because I like them so much:
http://www.rocketfishproducts.com/products/mobile-phones-gps/RF-MAB2.html
One set for my work phone, one set for my personal phone, and one set for my laptop (watching movies). As you know, switching pairing with bluetooth is not very easy, so I find it easier just to have as separate set per device.
They are behind the ear/head headphones, with bluetooth. They also have a mic, and can be used as a headset. They are nice, because they can be worn while wearing a helmet (cycling) and they hold on pretty tight, so they can be used while running.

I've tried countless BT headphones for running and these and br FAR the best.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk 2
I have heard good things about the Jaybird Freedom BT headphones. They probably don't satisfy "not too pricey" criteria though.
I have had both the Motorola S9 and S10 BT headsets and they worked perty good for a while, but after several month (4-6) they both had the buttons start to become non-responsive. The S9 got to where some of the buttons and functions would not work and eventually I couldn't get it to work at all. The S10 had had the volume start to randomly go up and get loud and I had to turn it down. Finally I turned it down and it sent too low and I could not get it to turn up again. Now I picked these off ebay for under $40, one was probably a referb the other was new in box.
Because my experience I'm a little hesitant to buy BT headsets for running (I live in Florida). I may eventually spring for he Jaybird freedom if I'm convinced they will hold up to sweat better than the S9 & S10 I had.
Bottom line for activities like running read reviews (look for long tern use reviews) and be willing to spend a little more to get something that will actually last and hold up to sweat. Buy once cry once.
I would suggest the Nokia BH 221.

I've been using LG Tone for about two weeks and this is my absolute favorite form factor for BT headphones now. I'm just sorry that the updated model (Tone+) which supposedly has much better sound quality thanks to Apt-X (which Note 2 supports) seems to suffer from range problems. Skipping BT audio is no fun.
So after watching a couple of GS4 unboxing videos, I've become pretty interested in the included earphones which, as far as I've read, will be available separately for around $30.
Now I'm far from an audiophile but I would still like some decent earphones to use. I was planning to buy myself a pair of these but since the HS330s have volume control on the in-line remote, I thought they might be better.
Since real-world testing is somewhat out of the question at this point, based on specs alone, which of the two do you guys think should have better sound quality?

I was wondering the same thing after reading this review. What got me was this: They offer better bass than just about any other pair of headphones you can find in a smartphone's retail package, although they probably won't fully replace any high-end aftermarket earphones, if you happen to have those. I was looking for something new so that I could retire my current headphones. So I collected an S4 for my mom today and tested out the earphones.
I was not impressed at all. I don't know what bass they are talking about. The max volume from them is also quite low.
To be fair, all the earphones that come with the phones I get normally stay in the box untouched. So I can't say how they fared against other headsets which come in the retail packaging.
I have a 10yr old pair of Sony MDR-EX70LP Fontopia Headphones which even went through a wash cycle and they totally blew the HS330s out of the water in every sound aspect. (I am not an audiophile, so I can't go into lots of detail, but they are much louder, have much deeper and louder bass and are clear and crisp. All the other sounds are there too and sound just as good. )
I don't know if this a an apples to apples comparison, but take it as my 2c.

This is really helpful. Thanks a lot. Even though I know I can get better, I'm actually content with the earphones that came with my Note 2. So if the S4 ones are at least as good as that, I'll probably buy them still. But if they're actually a downgrade then screw that, haha.

They're finally on Ebay. This is the cheapest of two that I found, at around 27 dollars or so: http://www.ebay.com/itm/400504212596

What is your budget? Wired or wireless (bluetooth)?
Personally I'm not a fan of Beats, overpriced and inaccurate sound with bass exaggeration. Just my opinion. I found Klipsch S4A II to be excellent wired headphone with accurate sound representation without any exaggeration of dynamic frequency range. Jaybird BlueBuds X have some of the best wireless sound and for exercising these are unmatched! I have reviewed both, in my signature link. Keep in mind these are great for active lifestyle and also price is $100 and higher.
Perhaps others can suggest other budget ones with a decent sound. It's not hard to find bass enhanced earpiece. But the one with accurate sound representation and comfortable fit is hard to find.
Hi vectron,
Thanks for your recommendations. Frankly I haven't got a clue as to what are the kinds of headsets available in the market yet... However your suggestions are a good place for me to consider.
I'm looking at below $50 usd. Wired headsets are good enough for me. Most importantly the headset should ideally be compatible with most smartphones so I need not spend anymore money in future (if that's not too much to ask for).
I'm not sure if this could help with some idea - I came from sony phones, and I think that the headset the phone comes with, is good enough for me.

Not a fan of Beats headphones either. There's so many better choices for the price imo. My current rotation of headphones are:
Klipsch S4a - for the price, probably the best headset I've owned. I used these almost every day for a variety of music, and always for movies/videos. Great fit, sound quality and noise cancelation. Unfortunately, someone sat on my phone when they were plugged in and bent the headphone jack on them and Now the connection sucks.
Sol Republic Amps HD - I always get compliments on these and how cool they look. I use them on bass heavy music and for running, since they give the least feedback from the cords moving around (beats tours are actually very good at this). These sound really good when I listen to my music loudly. Actually sound similar to beats, but priced a lot better. They have several sized cushions for your ears, but they don't fit in my cauliflower ears that well.
Monster turbines - Aside from the Klipsch set, but super close, these are probably the cleanest. REALLY good all purpose headphones. They play everything really well. The only knock I have with them, are that they're kinda expensive.
JLab wood/titanium - saw these on Groupon for a really good price so I picked them up (I know, I have a problem lol). These sound actually really good when listening to guitar heavy music. Clarity isn't great when there's a lot of bass though and these give off a ridiculous amount of feedback from the cords moving around, so I'd only listen to them if I'm laying in bed, or sitting at a desk for a while.
Hope this helps some. I've gone through tons of headphones, and I always recommend Klipsch to people who are looking for a solid set at a decent price.

Thank you to all who has replied and contributed! I had decided to go with s4a since there were many positive reviews on it.
Upon receiving, I was excited to give it a try. Noise isolation was great, but bass was not as strong as I hope to be. Sound quality is not too bad too. My only main gripe is the lack of functional volume control with its single button, which I had missed out during my research on earphones. Apparently this is a common problem.
Wondering if there is any way to overcome this?

No way to overcome it. Here is what I figured. S4A is designed for Android, but it's actually just their apple version with a modified in-line remote where they removed volume +/- because you can't get apple volume control to work with Android (after 4.x) without changing a few internal resistors. I just recently got and reviewed UE 600vi (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2381732). Those have apple control, and you can't use volume, but multi-function button works and can be programmed for single/double/triple click to play/pause/next/prev functionality. Use JAYS headset control free app for that (I have link in my review). I like that app better than Klipsch one, although it has an identical functionality anyway. Another thing, S4A needs to be broken in for the sound to shine. It's a normal procedure with all new high quality headphones. In the same UE600vi review I have a link to on-line "white-noise" loop player that you would run for a day with your headphone plugged in (don't put it in your ears lol!!!, just let it run to exercise your headphones). 600vi had hardly any bass when I got them, but after running that loop, I got some low end Not as much as on S4A, but noticeable enough. S4A has a better low frequency response with deeper bass, and it will shine after you will run that white-noise loop to break them in. On a contrary, 600vi has the most detailed high frequency content I ever heard, S4A is good but in high frequency it doesn't compare to 600vi. But since your original intent was bass - S4A will be great for that.
Thanks vectron!
It's a pity to know that I can't do anything about the volume.
I had tried both jays and klipsch music control. I'll keep the klipsch one first for a few days to see how it goes.
As for the white noise loop, that's something new for me! I'll give it a try. Hopefully it'll improve as yours did.

Somebody else mentioned to me 3D MAVEN Music Player (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.maven.blueplayer) as the one with some awesome surround sound and similar setup as JAYS controls. I haven't tested it yet, but worth checking out.
I haven't tried them personally, but I've seen some reviews that the Monoprice earbuds give a lot bang for the dollar; monoprice headphone search results. 9398 or 9397. They're so cheap you won't care if they get lost, damaged or stolen.
If you want really good headphones, I would check out Headroom. These guys are audiophiles and have cheap to mortgage the house headphones. And they give solid advise about headphones and use.

My current phone is a LG G3 and it is probably the best Android phone for music. I had the M8 prior to this and I feel the G3 is ever so slightly better for sound, and as well it is a much better phone. The only phone I have heard that was better than the LG G3 was the IPhone 6+, I owned one briefly but I ended up having to return it.
I am considering a Note 4 but I am beginning to think it is not enough of an upgrade over the G3 to make me happy. I will just have to wait until I can see it in person and judge then.

My wife has a G3. Its a nice phone for sure and right for her but I prefer the power user phone. Not to say one is better than the other, its all in personal taste. Thus far I am really enjoying my Note 4. the G3 is a top of the line phone but just not versatile enough for me.
I'm finding the music from the loudspeaker seems to be loud enough. My ringtone however isn't loud enough when getting a call. When I change the volume through the settings however it's louder than when I get an actual call. It's very strange and quite annoying as I can't figure out how to fix the ringtone volume
I've just been changing the notification sounds and they are louder than when they go off as notifications.

Did you think the LG G3 is better than the M8 audio-wise? Interesting - how does the LG audio compare to the Note 4 please?
Is it still ok when watching you-tube videos as well for instance?
Thanks
I hate the G3 screen. That makes it a no go for me. The Note 4 is a beautiful beast!

Just to be clear I am talking about music playback through attached headphones: Sennheiser IE8, B&W C5 etc. The G3 has extremely good music playback especially through poweramp. It is the only phone I know of that can play native hi res files 24/96 etc. without downsampling. You can check the GSM Arena review for further info on its sound quality: http://www.gsmarena.com/lg_g3-review-1086p7.php . They measure it as the cleanest for sound output.
So in my case I am looking for something that is comparable to the LG G3 sound wise, but also brings other improvements to the table. I'm interested in the Note 4 because of the display, but if the sound quality is a step back then I know I would not be happy with it. I don't know what the Note 4 sounds like as I have still not seen a demo, but as soon as a local store gets one I will take my headphones in and do a little side by side comparison.

The way they have it set out of the box is rather dull. I suppose they have set it like this for the sake of battery life. If you do the contrast fix and up the brightness slightly you can get that same sort of contrasty pop other phones have, but it is not going to be as saturated as amoled.
My LG G3 sounded better vs. my Samsung Galaxy Note 4. Using the native built-In speaker. LG G3 is much louder , fuller ,bass-ER{LOL), clearer than my Note 4. I always listen to my music just playing it through the built in speaker. Aside from that I love my Note 4. I'm still trying to use my warranty on my G3 , the screen has obvious vertical lines in high brightness setting, it looks like a digitizer or something...but it sucks.... I hope they can replace the screen or fix it.
I have both M7, G3 and Note 4, and I reckon the best sound quality is M7, the loudest is G3, in the middle range is Note 4. And both phones have been tuned with Viper4.
Sound is quite loud on my N910U, but thats for my standard.
Please go check out 'Permanent red tint on screen' i posted in general section. Let me know please if anyone having similar issue.

I played with my note 4 vs a LG G3 vs HTC M8 vs Z3 in store same song.
I set N4, G3 and Z3 equalizer scales all to zero and just turned the bass to full in custom mode.
HTC M8 doesnt have this so I just turned on bass mode.
The M8 is clearly the loudest by a far distance, the note 4 is next with the g3 not far behind then the z3 behind that.
I think the note 4 is very loud and GSM arena agrees
The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 performance in our audio quality test was almost identical to that of its predecessor - the Galaxy Note 3.
The phablet aced the first part of our test, where it had to show how it works with an active external amplifier. The Galaxy Note 4 achieved excellent scores top to bottom and garnished them with nicely high volume levels - not HTC high, but good enough to keep pace with the rest.
Plug in a pair of headphones and some stereo crosstalk creeps in - it's not too bad, but notably worse than some competitors, once again, from the HTC lineup. Take those out however and the Galaxy Note 4 can match or beat just about every smartphone out there.
Frequency response Noise level Dynamic range THD IMD + Noise Stereo crosstalk
Samsung Galaxy Note 4 +0.01, -0.04 -96.6 93.4 0.0015 0.0086 -94.2
Samsung Galaxy Note 4 (headphones attached) +0.03, -0.02 -96.8 93.5 0.011 0.035 -55.2
Note 4 speakers sucks to be honest, after 10 the loudspeaker was pretty bad

I actually have the opposite effect. The music is too loud to stand when near full volume. Much louder than my S4

On quality headphones using the Power Amp app the Note 4 has the best sound reproduction including when playing back HD music. Compared to M8 and LG G3

See my views above
The company who has the loudest sounding speaker on their phone probably doesn't care about the safety of it's users. Taming a speaker down has nothing to do with being "premium" or "non-premium". Also, remember the Note 4 is supposed to be a somewhat professional, business tool, not a boom box. Although, I think that the volume should be regulated when headphones are being used, I think that the device should at least put out acceptable volume for when you're watching a video using the speaker on the back.
Fwiw, audio quality is very good using spotify extreme settings and a trusty pair of klipsch s4i's. While not quite as loud as my iphone 5, the audio is certainly extremely clean and good definition.
What the m8 is the king of sound once you flash Harmon kardon adsp
My sprint version using headphones is loud as hell without any root or audio tweaks
I think Note 4 sound a bit tinny compared to my old Note 2.
Sound through headphones is amazing using exynos model
