Yes, I switched to Android preferred web (from preferred phone first) and it works great on Moto X. I called customer service (earlier in the week is supposedly better), got retentions, and the cs rep switched me over after getting supervisor permission. I believe it works with T-zones as well but I haven't personally tried.

Using Sprint Moto X on Straight Talk?

Guys,
I have a question. I am in the market for upgrading my Motorola Photon. Its right timing for Motorola to launch Moto X. I am currently with Sprint but I may switch to Straight Talk soon.
If I buy Off contract Moto X on Sprint, can I use it on Stright Talk?
Thank you.
No.

Why not? Doesn't the Moto X support LTE bands that AT&T and Straight Talk uses? It also has SIM card slot right?
Anybody here who can help?

Not LTE, just HSPA+. It will work fine, just not with LTE.

Are you sure Sprint Moto X will work? I thought sprint locks their Moto X's?
It‘s sim locked

Does anyone know how the sim lock actually works? I have bought new Sprint Moto X recently from ebay. I live in Europe and the phone wasn't activated yet. I can't use any local sim, but what's strange is that I have called to Sprint support and don't have my phone's IMEI in their DB, so I suspect that the lock is just a software lock on the phone itself. Is there any chance that the lock can be bypassed by flashing a different ROM?
Any update on this? Thank you

[Q] Moto X on MetroPCS

Has anyone had any problems, or even gotten an unlocked Moto X on MetroPCS? I searched everywhere, but couldn't find anything. I know that Metro has your own BYOD program in DFW and other cities, but is that ONLY for their phones that are listed? Any info on the subject would be much appreciated.

Metro pcs is part of t Mobile now. If you bring over an unlocked gsm device I think they even give you a $50 rebate. Friend of mine did it with a Puerto Rico moto x. All on t mobiles network if you do it.

was also interested in moto x for metropcs . anyone here got first hand knowledge ?
I know this thread is several months old but I had an unlocked Moto X activated on metro today. So far everything is working well. It shows that I have 4G LTE. I have tested calls and data using both the 4G and wifi connections. I am using an unlocked GSM Moto X.

I also have just had a MOTO X on Metro PCS. I ordered the Phone, and also the Metro PCS Sim Cards for $10(plus tax) from their website. Installed the sim card, and called *228. They ask for the IMEI# which doesn't show up in their system. I told them it was an unlocked phone. They input the serial, and Metro Sim # and it's working fine.

I'm still using my xt1053 on Metropcs. I lost all data after the LP update but fixed it with a new Apn. Otherwise I've had no issues in the last 18+ months. (no issues with the service, I have all kinds of issues with the phone itself after updating.)

[Q] Wifi Hotpot - Do we have any options on a NON Pure Edition?

So I am running the 2013 X, unlocked bootloader with xposed and can tether via a the xposed module. Is there a way to tether on the new 2014 Moto X on Verizon? NOT the Pure Edition, im talking the 'regular' Moto X (Verizon.) I am going to order the new on on Monday but this is really the only reason its holding me back. I don't want to root or anything like that, but I rooted my 2013 just to get tether. I know Lollipop will make it difficult, but I know the community does not like to be told NO!
Anyone have anything working with Lollipop on non pure edition? Would love to hear, thanks.
Bump
Yeah, pay for it. I have no trouble tethering on my VZW variant.

I was always able to tether on my carrier devices (without any additional fees) with Telus. Same goes with my Moto X 2014.

Me too! Nothing disabled on the Telus version. As a bonus it shows the connected protocol, not stupid 3G or 4G.

Telus isn't Verizon - that's where the problem lies. Only Verizon is the NON- Pure edition Moto X - they lock it down like fort knox

AT&T has a variant that is not Pure Edition, and so does US Cellular. USCC's has unlockable bootloader. Finally some benefits for sticking with US Cellular! (even though XDA continues to refuse to acknowledge our existence).
Drop Verizon.

Motorola ID can't connect

Anyone else experience issues with motorola Id not connecting? I tried to clear the data on some of the moto apps and no luck, it immediately goes to this "unable to connect" as if it didn't even try to.
Same issue here. Are you using it on T-Mobile by any chance or are you on Verizon. Either way its very annoying

I don't imagine it would be either but on T-Mobile and having the same issue
What happens if it dosn't connect? I was thinking of removing it altogether, I'm pretty sure it in no way exists for my benefit.
Krab, the issue is that I want to use connect, it's the only way to use the stock watch faces on my moto 360 and be able to customize the stock ones. Connect also allows you to reply to text messages from your computer on chrome through the extension.
Ok, so it does have a use then, thanks. I think I'm going to freeze it and see what happens if anything, I don't use chrome nor have any wear devices.
Ya its annoying to say the least but I'm going to activate it on Verizon prepaid when the kit gets here for it and do a factory reset to see if that's the issue. I'll go back to T-Mobile after I get a fix for it
I have the og sim from vzw, which you gave me an idea. I wonder if it'll work if I use that and wifi to activate connect then put the tmobile sim back in
Update : no luck, I'm beginning to think it's not the network as why would an app that is universal be network dependent? It uses the same motorola id, which logs in fine on my moto g and connect logs in fine on my moto g too.
That's a bummer. Ya it works fine on my moto x and my wife's moto x and my aunts moto g. Shame it won't connect...
The other thing I don't understand is, connect is used for the moto 360 as well, so it'll work on the G, but the G doesn't support the chrome extension. Which at the least it should work for the turbo...
I troubleshooted with moto care today and they had me register my device on the site and then wait a bit before attempting to reconnect it. I'll report back if it works

Got mine to connect. Did a factory reset and activated the phone on a Verizon Sim and after it connected switched my T-Mobile Sim back in and I'm in business

That's bs that it would need a vzw sim to start, and I'm not going to get a prepaid from vzw just for that...I'm getting a maxx anyways f it.

100% can confirm it's working. Just use the MEID on the box to activate. I activated it with the 1yr free of sprint service. (just pay ~$4/month in taxes)
Device also can be bootloader unlocked, and rooted as well.
Awesome! Just activated mine as well. Ported from a Verizon prepaid. Gave them the MEID number and had no issues whatsoever. They did ask what type of phone it was a few times, I just said a Motorola phone with a Sprint SIM.
Free year service deal ends 6/30!
Wow of course it can be boost mobile is basically sprint prepaid lol

I activated my G6 Play on Tello today. It was originally the Boost model that I activated on Sprint before switching over, so I can confirm it worked activating on both networks.

May I ask when did you bought the Boost G6 Play? I think any phone that can activate on Sprint can also activate on Tello/Ting. But I heard that the newer G6 Play cannot be activated.

I bought it a few months ago, around July/early August. I'm still on the March 1st security patch since I was trying out Treble roms and flashed back to stock to activate on Tello (I don't recommend treble just yet btw).

It's amazing what you can find with Google. https://tello.com/help_center In mere seconds I got an answer rather than waiting hours and hours for a reply.
Will any Sprint device work with Tello?
Any Sprint-ready device that passes all Financial Eligibility checks (free from contract and has no unpaid balance) should be able to be enrolled into Tello. Still, you need to check with your current provider if your device can be enrolled into another network.

Look at your own result. It is about Sprint phone. i.e. an Off Contract phone by Sprint. This is a Boost phone. It is entirely possible that the subsidized Boost phone is barred from joining other Sprint MVNO. There are reports of Boost G6 Play not activating has been around the web for at least a month.
