hi guys,
my problem is that i flashed the new miui rom MCGv5 and now everytime i write a sms my phone restarts. but not a complete restart but a short one. my kernel is platypus-revolutions-neo_04 energy_galaxys + kernel. with miui 1.5.27 everything works great but i just want to have the newest version of miui
can anyone help me?
That kernel is still buggy try Glitch V10 instead just make sure to flash the MIUI version see if that help
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA Premium App
use the kernel cleaning script and then flash glitch v10 for miui!
ok but i think that the kernel which i use is better in battery life. but ok i try glitch kernel. if the battery life is as good as with the other kernel i stay with the new one.
thanks so far
so now i upgraded to MGV 5.1 and everything is fine with the platypus kernel. thanks for the help though

I'm using the exact same config as you OP (Unity X10 I'm assuming, with ICD HD theme). While I'm here, is there any better kernels anyone suggests for Virtuous Affinity? I've been having some touch screen response issues (where a long press sometimes doesn't register which can be quite annoying typing).
Haven't had any issues with the lockscreen though.

I'm using this rom. Plus UltraSmoothRosie . I've disabled about 30% of all system apks also (facebook, twitter, genie, HTC likes and etc.).
No problems, stable, very fast. A lot of RAM + CPU 1.2 ghz. Battery is 50% to the end of the day (i don't know how you should use this rom to drain all battery in one day. ).
I suddenly wanted to try Nik's ROM with 3.5 sense... Maybe I should give it a try.

it would be great, if there is a rom (ICS Theme) with Sense! Sense is (in my mind) the most important. (Facebook Contact Sync etc.)
Im using IceColdSandwich 5.1 with the shipped CM9 Kernel, havent touched the radio once tho.
Working nice except the softkey backlight seems to come and go as it pleases.

Hey guys,
I'm reading a lot of posts regarding ICS-Roms and I'm confused:
Which one should I flash onto my SGS if I want the most stable experience?
Thanks for your kind help
DK3 + Devil2 0.67 kernel
I use DarkKnight 3 (not 4 which is buggy) with Devil2 0.67 kernel and all works just great! Form me its perfect for daily use in terms of stability and usability. No issues at all. But you may want to try yourself which rom works best for you...
try AOKP B32 with semaphore kernel...
its a gr8 rom... not found any bugs so far
infinitum
I just started using infinitum and very happy with it.
Installation of the roms is quite simple and straightforward so you could easily try a bunch out and make your own mind.
Slim ICS, Elite,Doc's
Cm9 nightly

Been trying to decide between CM9 nightly and SLIM ICS.
Right now I feel Slim a litle faster and lighter (with semaphore BM kernel is really great).
Remix all the Way
This is the best ROM I have ever tested

My Hat goes off
only niggle I have is the boot animation strobe - a little too aggressive
I am on CM9 latest build and have no problems so far. I was on Darky rom before with lagfix enabled.

+1 The Infinitum v2 currently based on B31 is really great and keeps the battery happy. (With semaphore 1.0.0s) Check it out, some claim it the best ICS AOKP rom out.
I have to say from my experience one cosmics ICSSGS RC 4.1 or 4.2 is perfect. I have had very few problems and it proper stock Ics which I love, I find all the added extras just make problems.

Iv been on and off teamhacksung's cm9 since build 9 and since build 14 iv been using it as a daily. iv got absolutly no complaints it is a great rom and now with the nightlys it is getting better and better. Im a big follower in the cm series but best thing to do us read some of the development forums and see wich tickles your fancy

I'm currently on ICSSGS 4.2 with Semaphore 0.9.7. I do work, play games, text, chat, etc..
Only grief I have with my phone right now is the GPS is borked. In some apps.
Can't wait for RC5 though. It's supposed to just rock!
Easy.
Latest CM9 Nightly. So damn good. Fast as a running cat! GPS works just fine, wifi works fine.
I'm also using Infinitys blue theme over that so it's pretty awsome!
Slim ICS is the best one I ever tried. Strongly recommend mate.

agreed...though i use 0.67b
CM9 nightly 14.04 with devil 0.67 is the best for me.
I think Slim ICS 3.3 with 0.67 devil kernel
Hey guys im new to XDA but im a pretty old with the rooting stuff
So till now i've been using the stock 2.3.4 and wanna switch to custom ics rom
Im thinking to go for Dark Knight 5.5.. which one do you suggest?
Thanks
Try ICSSGS
I've been using Onecosmic's ICSSGS ROM for a long time and it has been great for me.
Its really stable and fast.
Also i use Devil kernel for this ROM. And its increases battery life and speed through the roof.
May be you can try it out too.
Slim ics!!!!!! Best rom ever....
Send from my Galaxy S with Slim ICS 3.9 + Semaphore 1.2.2
Team NYX ICS V5 is the best...best battery and speed among all the available custom ROM
I would recommend CM9. it has constant updates. but if you want a very stable release and you don't want to update it once every 2 weeks, you should stay with a custom rom of gingerbread.
depends on what you want to do with your phone, if you want something special i would take the paranoidandroid rom and if you want a simple and clean rom take slim ics !
CM9 is the best ever

I'm with these dudes.
i'd recommend docs master v12 with the latest semaphore. i've been running this combo since v12 came out and i had no problem at all. do a clean install in you can forget about fc's and lags.

Hi, I use the ICS333 but to get a rom you like you nide try many roms
Get the Galaxy S3 look!
Hi
Try Slimrom (http://code.google.com/p/slimics39/downloads/list) as it is small in file size and then use AOKP add-on (http://www.mrmad.net/samsung-addon-packet-cm9-i9000-im-sgs3-look-2105) to upgrade your android. This runs Android 4.0.4 and looks and sounds like the new Galaxy S3 with some of the apps etc! Works good on my phone!
I don't stay with any ROM for more then two days ! Have tried almost all roms out there. Happy and next day, disdained , disappointed.
Last 3 days with TIGER ROM.
Record for me. Not that I am compromising or anything but cannot even find one bug so far !
Amazing ROM ! Even find camera faster and with a Timer !
Check it out bro !

Same.
but you have to know that the the ICS roms are some kind of beta or nightly (like CM9).
But if you want a very stable and energy saving rom you should stay on Gingerbread (my opinion). I use CM7 (based on Android 2.3.7) and it is the best rom I tested in the last time.
Else Slim seems to be a good rom - especially after the last updates (4.0 brings some good bugfixes and features).
Greets
Rigr
Sorry. There is nothing about stability on gingerbread. It is very unpredictable ROM. Sometimes great and at times lagging and the screen goes black cause it's "thinking!" And also when it syncs , evening slows down !

many people here recommend slim ics.. try out "tiramislim". it's bades on slim with a vew cool features. with aroma-installer you can modify it easy without flashing the rom new. on my device, it runs with the devil3 kernel veerry well.
I am running the Remics V1.1, and it's very stable, no bugs.

Smoothness is one of those subjective things. For example, you call the stock ICS bugged up, but I find it very smooth and useable with l0st.prophet's XS-ICS kernel and haven't found anything that I would consider buggy.
You just need to try all of the different ROMs until you find one you are satisfied with.
Help me understand

The kernel I used is based on the HTC Sense 3.6 ICS ROM source code, so it is more recent than the modified GB kernel that you mentioned.
The kernel is more important for ROM performance. The recovery you use has nothing to do with ROM performance.
How??
