while deciding which model to get, can someone clarify for me if most of the non-factory roms in dev section work on both c5502 and c5503? or model specific? Roms such as CM, etc.
Thanks.
All roms work on allmodels with no problem

Just a general question really, is it worth unlocking my bootloader?
Not many custom kernels around so I guess it's only cm10 based Roms everything else seems stock based?

Its up to you.
I imagine soon there will be custom kernels with abilities such as UC/OC/UV etc
If you can root the phone without unlocking the bootloader and dont want to install CM then I would wait untill some new kernels come along.
On stock jb at minute flashed as soon as I got it not rooted yet though might do that later,

Yeah, would also like to know which of custom (not customized sony ) roms is the most reliable / stable? Thank You
No, you can only use roms available here in development section.

firstly this was posted in the wrong section. it should be in the q&a section.
secondly roms are usually not cross flashable unless otherwise stated.
It's about trial and error when it comes to finding the perfect, stable AOSP ROM.

Hi.
I have got my so rooted and unlocked and have wanted to put a custom ROM on.
But every single one says just support for 2.254 firmware not my 2.245 firmware.
Will it still work or would it brick

It not safe to cross flash it will probably bootloop..i would suggest u to flash 2.254..and get it rooted and custom recovery installed.
Happy flashing

Is that possible as 2.245 is my only available software to update too

2.245
Dear Freind
Roms like pureness 1 and Honamiutreized are strictly firmware specific that is why, i think those developers specifically state do not flash this over other firmware variants that will cause problems and this is because those developers have heavily modded the latest firmware to add more tweaks to give advanced user experience hence that ROM may not be compatible on older firmwares.
But probably you can find Custom Roms (Like Cleaned and Tweaked Rom, JBXSP Rom, Project AOSP Rom) based on 2.245, just go to respective threads and check, you will find that the most of the ROMs' version 2 or 3 should be based on 2.245 firmware.
Try and enjoy customs roms.
No if you check this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2311964 you can find many FTF for 2.254 which can be flashed using Flashtool and have latest firmware and flash latest ROMs based on 2.254 without any problem.

Hey buddy,
Don't cross flash .254 FW over .245 FW.
Just use flashtool to flash the .254 FW. It is easy, and there are many guides to do it. Once you know how to use flashtool, your phone also automatically becomes unbrickable as you know how to flash back the stock FW even if you somehow softbricked your phone.
Also, don't post questions in the development section. This is for ROMs and Kernels and stuff, there's no place for questions here. Go to the Q&A section instead next time.
Happy flashing (ROMs and kernels, not anything else )

Don't you have the T-Mobile US branded variant of the Z (C6606)? If so, you cannot flash any custom kernel as your bootloader cannot be unlocked. (I know your signature says C6603, but the model number changes if you flash an unbranded rom).
To check for yourself if your bootloader can be unlocked, enter *#*#7378423#*#* in the dialler, then look in Service info, Configuration.

So does that mean I can't install roms either?? I can boot into recovery and all that
Sent from my Nexus 5 using xda app-developers app
You can flash stock based roms only. Anything that requires a custom kernel (CM/AOSP/AOKP/PAC etc) are not able to be flashed on a locked bootloader.

Hello friends! im from Brazil.. , there is any stable and pure custom rom for Z1 ?
I see a lot of roms on the forum but I am unsure of what is the best and no bugs.
Thanks
The answer you will get: try them for yourself and see which one you like, they're all very similar and it's up to you to see

Yes, you have to test them by your self and see which one complete your needs, before this thread will be close!..so Hurry!! ..lol..
Everything I would say at this point is already said, except: Thread closed!
