Hello! Not too long ago I decided to join the XDA family. I love this community. People are always helping others. Which brings me to my main point.
I've been trying to copy and paste/drag and drop .irs files into my phone. Specifically /sdcard/ViPER4Android/Kernel. But when I do that on my device with ES File Explorer, it gives me an error saying "open failed: EACCES (permission denied)" I said well okay maybe something is wrong with the file. I re-downloaded the .irs file about 3 times just to get the same error. Then I decided to try it on my computer.
When I drag and drop OR copy and paste I get an error saying, "the device has either stopped responding or is disconnected" I don't know what to do anymore. I've rebooted my device and computer countless of times, tried different usb ports, and i've tried different usb cables.
Any suggestions for this problem? Thanks.
Are you trying to download to your phone using ES file explorer or move it to another folder using ES file explorer? Try using internet browser to download. Files don't seem to move well with ES file explorer either. Not for me anyways. I usually download to phone, then upload to dropbox but through dropbox and not ES file explorer. Then use dropbox to place it into the folder I want it in.

I cant move files from Internal and to External SD on my O2x . When ever I try the file manager reports the move failed. I have tried with both Astro File manager, and ES File Manager and both reports its failed and cant do it.
Can someone tell me what the hell is wrong?. It doesn't make sense cause I can copy and paste between the cards, but have to delete the original which is rather tedious. I would prefer the move would just work and I suspect its something LG has ****ed up since it work on other phones >_<.
ES File has even got root access and still fails .
So does anyone have a solution that might work?
Same with me to. I use Androzip
Try using root explorer yet?

Well its an paid app so no. And ES File supports root as well and cant. Im not feeling for spending x amount of dollars on an app I am not sure will actually do what I want it to do. What if the developer does not want to issue me a refund?
I have this stupid bug too... on sgs
I have contacted the developers of es file and some others... they said we are going to check...
I impressed how irresponsible they can be, this is a basic function on file explorer..
Anyway only the build-in my files works for moving files, all others are trash, including root explorer.
Root explorer works just fine for me (moving files from/to internal to/from external).
Just downloaded es file explorer and it did not work.
Any news on a fix for this?

Root Explorer DOES NOT WORK. I tried it and it while it shows no failure messages all my files remain in the same places and nothing gets moved.
I've tried downloading stuff from the stock browser and other browsers and when I go into my downloads on my phone the file is corrupt. I even checked to see if it was the program by trying to open it on my computer and I got the same result. Does anybody know anything about this or anything?
Where is your download location? I'm not totally sure why unless whatever your downloading isn't compatible with your phone.

The normal download location. Haven't changed it at all. Also, I'm just download a zip file it seems to happen with every file I try.
If the same file is not working on your computer then wouldn't it be the file or did I miss understand your question and statement
The file works on my computer if I download it on my computer. If I download it on my phone then try to open with an app or through usb on my computer it says the file is corrupt. So pretty much saying if I download from phone it's corrupt, download from computer it's fine.
Which other browsers have you tried? I recommend the dolphin browser if you haven't already tried it.

What kind of file is it what are you trying to do
I'm actually using Dolphin Browser. Every other file works fine but .zip files it seems. And the files I tried where Pokemon roms (trying to relieve childhood). But I know the files work since a couple of my friends have downloaded them from their phones and unzipped them on their phones. But my one friend he had a different situation where his would download as a .bin file when it's a .zip file.
Do you know any program that can do this? I've tried WiFi File Explorer PRO and Wifi Transfer but they only let me send files individually, but I need something that would work as if my nexus s was connected via USB. Do you know something like that?

Try ES File Explorer.
I use SwiFTP on the phone combined with Filezilla on computer myself.
Do you use dropbox? If its your computer you're transferring to.. most of the time I use that instead of USB. Unless its a ROM.

ESFile explorer can see shares in your LAN and has multiple select, and root. It will batch your copies as well. I transfer all my music to my phone with ES. Faster than usb.
If you need transfer outside your network then Drop box is your choice.

I've downloaded ES but i don't know how to transfer
Click on the LAN tab and then on your network share.
Then long press on the files you want to transfer and select "copy to"

I don't know how to connect with my pc, faqs on the site are offline
I did it with "WebSharing", very good program. It can mount nexus s like it was usb-plugged
No one is reading the title of the post. The OP wants to transfer FOLDERS with files inside, rather than having to rebuild file structure in the device and upload all files individually. I am looking for the same thing and I've downloaded 5 programs from this post and all of them do exactly the same thing, they upload files but not folders.
Does anyone have a solution that actually does what the OP is asking?

FTP server + client will enable you to drag and drop whole folders and it will rebuild the structure automatically. Just like copying and pasting would do.
Where is th update. Zip file located
I creaed update.Zip file but im not able to find it
Its located in /sdcard
i still not able to find it
when you create the update.zip file, and it's finished, the notification bar will have a notification about the path, check that. If it's not there, may be the zip was not created successfully.
/mnt/sdcard/update.zip
Was this solved? I can't find the file either.. it's not in the root of the sdcard, I've tried to create it twice and searched for it. Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks.
dont you get a notification of completion of the process and when you pull it down, you can see where its located ?
I'm having the same problem. If I look with root explorer, it exists on the root of the SD, but I can't see it in windows? Maybe it's a 2GB file limit thing or something?
but the update.zip is not more than 4MB

Yeah, I tried to make a smaller one, and it's still there but I can't see it in windows. I tried renaming it as well and that didn't work either.

Answering my own question - its definitely located in the root, just not visible in Windows no matter what I do. Use a root explorer to grab it and move it to a flash drive or remote network location, that's what I did and it worked great.

I used wifi file transfer. I was able to download the file from there.
I had this problem. Try simply unplugging your phone from the USB cord, wait 5 seconds, then plug it back into your PC. Your PC should now see the update.zip.
One of common prob's with MTP !!
just do a search in root explorer, i got 4 locations of the same file on my galaxy s3 so you can find it in anyone of those.
and yes it is the same file in all of those locations, i even tried to change the name on one of them to check if all of them changed and they did
/data/media/0/update.zip
/mnt/sdcard/update.zip
/mnt/shell/emulated/0/update.zip
/storage/emulated/0/update.zip
Move the file out of the root directory and put it a folder, any folder. It will then show up on windows.

This worked for me! Although I used the stock file manager. After moving the update.zip to another location using file manager, I was able to see the file via Windows as well.
just change the file name and retry. worked for me
C:\> adb pull /sdcard/update.zip
Non existant file transfers only to "Download" folder. other folders are fine.
Background: I used TWRP to completely wipe my Nexus 6. Through Windows I made a folder called "Download" and put my ROM and SuperSU in there which transferred fine. Installed ElementalX 3.0.
Now when I transfer files from my PC to the Download directory, I just get a moving bar and the files never actually transfer. I have only waited about 5 minutes then gave up. Once I cancel the transfer, Windows loses connection with the phone and I have to re-plug the USB cable in. The problem only occurs when I try to transfer to the Download directory. I can transfer files from my computer to any other folder of the phone with no problems. I also cannot delete the Download directory using Windows Explorer, and two file manager programs on the phone called File Manager, and ES Explorer. The Download directory also has two files, SuperSU and ElementalX, which cannot be deleted. It's not a major issue, but it's bugging me.
Oh, my Android skill level is novice wannabe so be gentle with the big fancy words. However, after a few short hours of owning the phone I did figure out how to ROOT and install a custom ROM, so I ain't totally stupid - just mostly.
check the file permissions on those files and the folder, ES Explorer can likely do that I don't use ES but I know its well featured. Its the only thing I could think of off the top of my head.

Reboot into recovery. Go to advanced, file manager. Browse to that Downloads folder, hit select, then choose delete.
Should get rid of it for you.
I'm assuming that you made the Downloads folder originally through TWRP while it was connected as an MTP device? If so, sometimes it can do weird things while in recovery. While the MTP driver works in TWRP, it's not extremely mature and is really just there as a convenience for folks that aren't comfortable with the standard command line stuff.

Thanks man. That sorta worked. There was a section in ES where I could change all permissions to RW. I don't know if that effected things but after I did that I renamed the Download folder to Downloads with an 's'. I was able to recreate another Download directory and now I can download stuff from the net as I wasn't able to with the old Download directory. This seemed like a patch but at least things were better. However, I then read Yoinx's post and it worked and complete got rid of the bad folder.

You sir are a bloody genius. Worked like a charm.
I am going to explain this as well as I can. When I wiped everything with TWRP (I didn't mean to. It was just a noob mistake) I was no longer able to see my phone's files on my computer. If I am not mistaken, it did show the phone hooked up, but no files, or even "internal storage" were showing - I could be wrong. I needed to copy SuperSU and the ElementalX ROM from my computer to my phone but I was screwed. I fiddled about in TWRP, and I believe it was under "Mount" where I was able to check/tick all the folders that were unchecked. I am assuming since they were unchecked, Windows could not see the files on my phone. After checking/ticking the folders, I hooked the phone up to the PC and the N6 showed up. I made the Download directory in Windows and copied the ROM and SuperSU that way.
Also, I don't even know what an MTP device is. Maybe I did what you said as I was sort of clicking here and there to see if this or that would work. I was in semi panic mode so I don't remember every single thing I did. Anyways brother thank you so much for your help. Here's some nice delicious Hawaiian pineapple for ya.
