flashed a ROM today and it was working.. then it rebooted itself and I changed the kernel.. my imei lost...was using that kernel for long..I had a copy of efs from cm10.1 ..copied back ..set permission.. imei is correct... same as on back of the phone.. but no service ..any help... urgent...
Guaranteed method for IMEI restore is flash back to stock GB (no bootloaders), flash Corn kernel to get CWM, repartition the phone to match what you had (CM10.x, flash twice the same file), then restore your OS backup. You don't need to reboot the phone or setup the new CM installation, just restore your backup right after repartitioning.

Hello, I have been using darky 9.5 rom for a while without problems but today CM7 launched the long waited nightly and I decided to try it. I made a backup from the dark core recovery and then flashed the CM7 rom perfectly. I didnt like it at all so I wiped everything in order to restore the darky backup...
And then the problems came up. The restore said successful but the phone stuck at first GT-I9000 logo. I reverted the phone to stock and installed clockworkmod but still cant boot into the rom. However, I can restore my first stock backup so I think its a boot.img problem or something like that.
Can I delete boot.img from the folder and try to restore with a darky rom installed? It should be the same boot.img
Its not a big deal but I hate to reinstall all my apps from the market and configure them!
Thanks!
Install the "stock rom" with kernel speedmod and bootloader that are in Sourceforge in CM7 (GT-I9000 FROYO full PDA) , after wipe all .
OK, restore your backup

So the order is:
1. Back to stock rom
2. Root the rom
3. Install speedmod
4. Install bootloader
5. Wipe
6. Restore
Am I right? Thanks!
The speedmod is including in the rom (is full rom stock with mod kernel)

Yes I did. Probably the backup is corrupted. I spent all this morning installing again the darky rom and configuring all my apps. Thank you anyway
I had the same problem, im not professional but I think its becouse Cm7 is 2.3.4 and Darky is 2.3.3...
I firstly flashed Froyo w/ bootloaders and then I installed Darky v10.
After that I want to CMW >advanced restore and restored my /data so I got all my programs back
I flashed cm7 ICS port by teamhacksung.. And now trying to restore a nandroid backup but I get error message: failed to restore boot image.. then nothing happens.. Do you know what the problem is? Do i have to tick usb-debugging before attemting to do a nandroid restore?
Or is it not possible to go from CM7 build to a stock backup ( JVT ) ?
i think you need to flash stock jvt, then semaphore kernel, then restore
Sent using TCP/IP

Can some1 confirm this ?
sI think is due to the fact that ICS has a new version of recovery... So, you have to flash a GB rom to restor your backup

You are better off flashing a stock rom or Darky's 10.2 (worked for me)
Once on the stock rom google "backing up EFS/IMEI"
Once you have backed up your EFS folder flash the rom of your choice.
If you stay you are you have the chance that your carrier will block your phone as well as the possiblity of random apps downloading from Google Play
help
so you say if i flash to stock then i got my orginal imei back? can i flash to stock 2.3.6? can you give me instructions?

ok, read this install root explorer and try deleting EFS folder and reinstall ROM as mentioned or you can get a EFS Folder to overwrite it first from My Android Collections than reinstall ROM...BUT First REad and get a firm understanding what are the options
The other method is to use a z3x box or spt box to correct the IMEI
But First powerdown, pull out Battery, SIM CARD, and EXT.SD card, press power button for a minute, than powerup without SIM and Ext.SD Card....
Tips before Flashing:-
Backup all your important files, contacts, SMS, game data, images etc to PC or Ext SD card. or make Nanadroid Backup If you have CWM
Backup your EFS Folder to PC or Ext SD card
Enable USB Debugging on Phone. Touch menu>Settings>Applications>Development>
Charge your battery to more than 50% before you attempt any sort of flashing.
Disable Samsung KIES when using Odin. Kill Kies.exe, KiesTrayAgent.exe, & KiesPDLR.exe using Task Manager on PC
Use only ROM and solution for your model and Wipe x3
I tried to delete EFS folder, and reflash, nothing happened.
"or you can get a EFS Folder to overwrite it first" - where i found this?

I have a S-on device with unlocked bootloader. I took a nandroid of my phone and tried a diffrent ROM. and found it to be laggy. So i restored the nandroid back from the recovery and now the phone just bootloops all the time and boots into recovery..
I am using 4ext recovery..
something wrong with the kernel or what ??
i am running low on battery.. will this mess up my phone ??
ok.. Here's what I did.
I wiped everything again and flashed that laggy ROM again in recovery and then flashed its kernel (took from its zip file) from bootloader. and phone started again. So that means the kernel that the nandroid contains (nandroid of my original stock ROM) is invalid ? So how i fond the original kernel of the stock ROM now so that I can restore its nandroid ??

1. Jam all your posts in one post next time. That's why there is the "EDIT" function.
2. All you needed to do was to flash the boot.img found in the nandroid.
1) ya. I am sorry. I was in a hurry so i just flooded the posts.
2) I did that. I flashed the boot.img from the nandroid. I tried both ways i.e. flashing before restoring the nandroid and flashing after restoring the nandroid.
Hey guys,
hope someone can help. I had a screen crack 2 weeks ago. I was on Alexndr CSD2 DBT with TWRP. So I have a full TWRP backup. Sent it to Samsung. These smart asses reflashed my phone without any need of doing so. On arrival it was on stock with funktional LTE Sim connection.
So I checked OEM Unlock, went to download mode and flashed TWRP. Went to TWRP and formatted everything and restored ALL partitions of my backup. On reboot my PIN was not accepted anymore - this is not concerning, I am willing to reinstall all by hand. But I lost IMEI/baseband - so deleting the key files I can enter the phone but I have no DATA connection via SIM anymore.
So I reflashed stock CSD2 .... no IMEI.... so I restored EFS only .... boot loop.
I installed CSD Alexndr fresh and restored EFS only .... no IMEI
Wtf is going on? Any ideas I can fix this without sending it back and starting all over and maybe getting stuck again?
Thnx
Peter

Thank you, tried it, did not change the situation unfortunately. He says I think it was included in the rom anyway.
Hmm, if you installed the rom again to install the modem- that's not what I meant.
Alexndrs rom makes a backup of your efs; Find the post and see what you have type in twrp terminal.
Then try the modem flash, solely.
I had the same issue, but it was fixed with modem flashing; however, everytime I reinstall a rom I need to do a separate modem flash.

Hey thanks for your answer.
I flashed the BL...zip solely and also tried to restore EFS and baseband partition only, besides trying full stock odin flash and full TWRP restore with all partitions.
I read:
"EFS restore command (TWRP -> Advanced -> Terminal):
gunzip -c /external_sd/.backup/efs/efs_recent.img.gz | dd bs=4096 of=/dev/block/sda3"
I did, it flashed it and still the same problem. This was the SD from my S8plus. I didn't know Alexndr is overwriting EFS backup every goddamn flash. So my old EFS backup says Aug 2018 - so it is of my S8plus. And the recent one got overwritten by the few flashing attempts. So the rom did overwrite EFS backup I suspect.
So I maybe left with the TWRP backup of EFS only. Why is it not working, to restore the EFS TWRP backup - it should have all data cause it was done when the phone was running well? Is there a way to restore EFS/IMEI/Baseband from that backup? I dont understand how baseband gets lost while having full TWRP backup?

It's not bl file you flash. Also, that terminal code is for recent , which , i think is a backup of efs now flashed, not the one you had prior to the flash. Meaning, check for the efs- backup. That file is hidden on your external sd card.
In theory, that's what I suppose as well but it didn't work for me either- restoring via twrp.

Yeah, I know, I just had the file open and quoted wrong. It is
gunzip -c /external_sd/.backup/efs/efs_backup.img.gz | dd bs=4096 of=/dev/block/sda3
The command worked to restore the EFS but since it is the backup of my S8plus IMEI is still not recognized....
Initialization via SmartSwitch returned that the device is not supported...great.
So the only backup I have is TWRP. I need a way to rescue from TWRP. Since full resore ends in broken IMEI I may be screwed since a full restore should render the phone running but it is not for whatever reason. I am disappointed that the full TWRP backup doesnt seem functional to backup and restore EFS.
Is efs formatted the proper way?
I had also wiped clean everything in twrp.

I wiped all available partitions and restored again. Unfortunately still no change. No LTE no IMEI.
You have to check whether or not the format , ex. Ets4 or whatnot, is what is needed for efs to operate
Did you fix it?
No, I am stuck.
There is only a way to format System - which I did. Nothing changed.
I tried to odin flash CSD2 to have the phone update on its own to CSDE to maybe gain baseband on this update. But no luck.
