Can anyone recommend an alternative to the SmartActions app to manage phone profiles, please?
I came across one called Llama but wondered if there are any others out there that people rate?
Thanks.
MacroDroid a lot better than Smart Actions.

I've seen various devs offering apps allowing use of 3rd party plugins and was wondering the technique they use to find and load these plugins into their own app. This might come in handy in the future for me.
Thanks.
I am also looking into something like this. Ill share if i find anything.
Im thinking about taking some rooted g1s and using them as surveillance cameras. I've searched for a while and cant seem to find anything on it. Has this been done? If so what's involved? Thanks
The closest application I can think of is QIK, you can run the application and check the video on a website.
thanks man I'll look in to that
you need four things:
wifi
g1
ipcamviewer
webkey (though I've never used it, I imagine tasker, also would be great for this)
oh and a power source
also webkey is so you can remotely control the phone... both the apps are free in the market.
if you make any improvements on my "system" let me know, I'd be interested to hear what you find.

Click to collapse
There's also the Ustream app which is similar to Qik, but the solution of the guy I quoted looks like the better option.
For anyone who may use this program can you answer a quick question for me? Can I control what apps are allowed to use data? For example I have a game like Dice with Buddies. I can not turn off or control when it looks for updates/new games. I'd like it to only search when I open the app. Could juice defender allow me to stop that without disabling the app? Maybe stick it on a 8 hour timer or something like that? Just wondering. Also do you find that it works well?

Hi everyone,
I have an iPhone 4S running ios7. I find that my watch faces and apps work fine as long as I make a habit of re-opening the pebble app and the companion apps often, but this defeats the purpose of the pebble. I'm trying to limit the number of times I have to take my phone out of my pocket. I need a good way to stop ios' oom manager from killing these apps. I tried background manager but it didn't seem to be helping any. Has anyone had better experience with this app or some alternative?

I've encountered the same thing on my 4s. I've been testing background manager as well and it seems to improve the behavior of a few faces and apps, but it's not consistent across the board. I'd be curious if anyone comes up with a complete solution or if it's something they'll properly address in future updates.
Jailbroken? There is a Cydia tweak I use that settled this for me. It's called background manager.
Non JB iOS the best I was able to do was Settings -> General -> Backgroud app refresh -> turn stuff on.
If that helps anyone, hit the Thanks-o-meter thingy, I need to build some street cred to unlock the full forum. LOL.
Good luck!
EDIT: I just noticed in the OP's case that it's a multi-app issue, and tried BM. Currently iOS only allows 1 app at a time to interact with Pebble app. This may be your issue. If you leave more than one companion app running and for example load the watch face for one, then try and go back to the other; you'll find you have to reload that companion app. This irks me as well, but I now a days only use 1 companion app regularly any way. I am unsure of any work around for this on the horizon.
Hi,
Been googleing for a while on this one, not found anything yet.
I'm looking for an app that can emulate a gamepad for my phone.
If all it does is emulate a single screen tap that would be fine.
The thinking is that I have a plastic Google Cardboard rig that doesn't have the magnet button thing. The idea being that the watch could replace this functionality.
If it could act as an analog stick/dpad that would be a huge bonus.
If nobody knows of an app for this, any input to deving one would be helpful. I don't currently have a Tizen dev suite set up but could get one going this weekend.
I've done some remote control stuff in java before but never on android. If anyone has experience in this your help would be appreciated.
I don't want to replicate something if it already exists.
