There is no problem having 47C when playing games. There is no relation between disk space and CPU temp. 8-10 hours of battery life means nothing without info about display usage, wifi usage, mobile data usage. Mine can easily makes 2 days when I'm not using it at all. I really doubt it will last more than 8 hours playing games. Hope it help

In wifi/3g on n brightness on auto the cell gives 10 hours and if i surf net or play games or listen to music on a length for abt an hour then the cell gets very hot as i told and the battery is drained by about 20-25%...is this normal...?

20-25% of battery drop under heavy usage for an hour looks fine imo. You should take a screenshot of your battery graph and post it here so it will be easier to determine if 10 hours of battery life is normal in your case. You might want to look at this thread and compare your values: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2195079

Whatever you do, don't try to check your laptop's CPU temperature or you'll think it's about to cook itself to death!
45° is fine; maybe even a little cool for that kind of heavy usage. The One feels hotter than other phones despite operating at the same temperatures because of the conductive metal back. Don't worry.

Batterytime on Xperia

Is there anyone else here that experience that the batterytime is max 3-4 hours standby?
No, battery time is more than great. I got my X1 last monday and the first three times I charged the battery to full and then let the X1 with full screen light on. This lastet more than six hours!!! Then the X1 shut off itself. The same at the second charging zyklus. Again more than 6 hours of best screen-light before switching off in cause of less power.
This is the best result I evere had at a PPC
guess you'd have to replace your battery. seems to be buggy.
my battery lasts about 6h+ of video playback (700mb, avi, dvdrip)

Wow,
I'm using Sync and wifi. can i't be because?
I got 4-5 hrs with wifi and bluetooth while streaming with the screen on max brightness. I COULDN'T BELIEVE IT!!!
It's Media Panel
Have you launched the Media Panel?
I noticed that if I used the Media Panel for music playback
the back/battery was getting VERY hot. Not good for its
lifetime . So this Panel consumes a lot of power. I guess
the Xperia developers got some work to do.
Also Wifi needs lot of battery power.
Using both about 4 hours are thinkable.

No, not mediapanel.
Well, i test without Synk and Wifi tomorrow.
That's it. It's Wifi. Having Wifi turned on all the time you
will get these results. It's one of the most battery intense
functions. Only turn it on if you need it. For example,
notebooks with much larger batteries will have much less
runtime (bad english, I know ).
Sync isn't responsible for this. I have an hosting exchange
server running but I didn't notice any effect on the battery.
Hope, I could help.

im able to switch my wifi on for 3 hours then music for another 2 hours and 1 and a half hour calls still manage to have 3 bars left on my phone whats wrong with yours?
the battery on the x1 is insanly good compared to the diamond.
(however, when i was charging it yesterday there was somekind of bug that drained the battery when the charger was plugged in, it did not detect the charger after a while, havent checked what it could be, had msn/skype/wifi and the arc slider open )
edit: softreset solved that problem
the battery of X1 is working fine, 10 hours continues use time (for internet + MSN)
WiFi is something that should be only turned on when you are using it. Same goes with BT too infact.
so my accu holds approx. 1 day with music, Games, wifi, video, but I think the accu is already become better as in start in the normal one use he holds 2.5 days
Wow, 8-10 hours without Wlan!
on 2g i got msn/skype running from morning to bedtime, 3pushmail accounts and normal usage, 2bars left of battery at bedtime so its good.
But. i get strange problems when charging the battery and the phone is on. it seams like when the battery is fully charged, it starts to discharge if i not plug out the charger, this morning when i woke up the phone was off but fully charged, it could mean that the battery was charged, then discharged and shut off, then charged again.
a normal businessday: 230 min phone, 30 mails, 15 SMS, bit Internet ....and the Battery is still alive....it´s good enough for me )
sonox
it,s the poor reception that drains the battery, seeking for a signal most of the time..
Since having the X1... Now 1 week... I would have to say its the best battery life on a WM device I have used...
I get approx 2days of usage without charging... which I think is good.
Cheers
I heve my phone checking for new mail every 5 minutes. Does this consume a lot of battery or is it negligible?

yes it consume a lot of battery, more on 3g than on 2g, if you think its a problem. just increase the time to 30min or so.

Quick Battery Loss|Stock Rom/Kernel/4.2.2|

Hello everyone,
Over the past week I have noticed my HTC One runs out of battery quickly when watching videos/playing games.
I have downloaded a wakelock detector and it sleeps 99% of the time, mainly because I have used Greenify to make sure that there are no wakelock problems.
I always have my phone on minimum brightness (not auto, just 0) with mobile data turned off most of the time. Wifi is usually on. NFC and Bluetooth are both almost always off. My screen powers off after 45 seconds, and data turns off if the screen is off for an extended period of time. On top of that, Power saver mode is always on with all 4 features ticked.
I do not have a problem with the phone leaking battery, but rather than when i begin to do intensive tasks, e.g. playing games (Bloons Tower Defence 5 for instance) the phone seems to lose the battery very quickly.
I found that within 5 minutes of playing I would lose about 2-3%. This means that within 3-4 hours I would run out of battery completely. Is this normal? How have other users fared with the battery and finally, what else do people recommend I do to save some more battery?
Thanks
Playing drains the battery as hell. From such a powerhouse it is not surprising tough.
I usually play logical games, and "ye' good ol' Carmageddon" sometimes. While 2D games are pretty ok, demanding 3D games will eat your battery as you said.
For example, I have lost 40% battery after playing Carmaggeddon for about 90 minutes.
On the other, when using the phone as phone, not as gaming device, the battery is pretty sweet.
I can get 8 hours on screen time with one charge, and lasts me through the whole day - auto brightness, auto-sync, wifi or mobile data always on - BT, NFC disabled.
For comparison, I managed to get around 4.5-5.5 hours with the same settings from my iPhone 5. And gaming ate battery super fast on that phone as well - I only
dared to play with a charger nearby (Max Payne).
To save some juice I recommend to set a lower CPU frequency when playing games (for those do not need all the power) - but that requires root.
Other than that, it seems you already have all the options enabled.

It's nice to know that it isnt just my phone that seems to drain like hell while playing any of the more resource-hungry games.

[Q] 4 hour battery life on heavy non gaming usage

i am getting 4 hours tops of batterylife on my z1
i have maximum brightness auto turned off i have wifi and bluetooth off
i have a live wallpaper
i have skype steam running in the back
it takes 2 hours for it to drop to 50 and 4 hours to 0 from full charge on pretty much full on screen time
is this normal even on that kind of heavy usage
I would recommend using wakelock detector to see what's really soaking up your battery. It's a free application and it's pretty self explanatory. Charge up your phone and use it heavily again and report back to us with your findings through wake lock detector.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Have push mail on ? My phone was empty very quick before the update .257 but now its much better.
I think if you mean with 4 hours onscreen it is normal otherwise it is not.
Use wakelock detector already mentioned
4 hours on screen time with full brightness sounds reasonable. I can play heavy games for about 3,5 to 4 hours with medium display brightness.
Always keep in mind that the display is the biggest power consumer in modern Smartphones.

so the battery really is that bad?
using stamina it drops 20 or so % during the night
Actually the battery with its 3000 mAh is gigantic. And I think 4 Hours of heavy usage with full brightness is ok.
20% over night with STAMINA mode is too much though.

i have steam and skype whitlisted in stamina
really dissapointed in the battery life then
i guess theres no such thing as a full day of usage then
is there any smartphone that can handle that?
Do you actively use your phone all day (screen on all the time)?
With medium usage (WhatsApp, Surfing, Some calls) I can go for at least one, maybe two days.
I slept for 10 hours and my battery drained 9% with wifi and GSM on from full charge. your using the stock charger right? charging faster then recommended will reduce the life of the battery and can cause this kind of issue, but the phone is so new i wouldn't expect that to be the cause. I know the stock charger 1.5A. With a 2A charger it is likely the phone will charge at 2A.
Its probably a software related issue your having, but 20% overnight seems like a lot..

I would something is hitting your phone for wakelocks. 20% over night is a bit high. I know google currents is a know offender so uncheck that if you have it syncing. Try turning off google location access. Turn off gps and nfc. Using you phone at max brightness will always be very draining, leave on on auto unless your outside in daylight or in the car. Facebook is also bad for wakelocks. Any app that is polling for updates will be hard on battery. My experience has been a much improved battery life over my previous devices. On an average work day I leave at 8 and get home at 430, and I usually have 70-75 % by bedtime usually around 30%. I leave most my apps syncing all the time as well. I know the phone is new to you so I would say you might be playing with it more than you normally would.

I suspect that steam / skype will be preventing the phone from ever going to sleep.
I would suggest capping the max frequency of the cpu to quite slow or setting the governer to a conservative level (an app could be forcing the cpu to stay at a high frequency most of the time which will just drain the battery in no time)
However this usually requires a custom kernal or at least root which isn't very well developed on the Z1 yet.
If you can run a wakelock program that also logs the time spent at each cpu speed ... that would help people help you ...
As for any phone being able to handle it, unlikely the battery is relatively large but so is the screen, most phablets have only a fractionally bigger battery.
Only a full blown tablet will get you a much bigger battery that might be able to last you twice as long.
I typically go 3-4 days between charges on the .257 firmware without stamina mode and paired to a smartwatch 2.
I used to get 3 days on the 534 firmware with stamina mode! (i work in an area of very weak signal so i get 25% no signal time over a battery charge)

[Q] Xperia z battery draining

Hellow I'm a happy owner of the xperia z for 10 days, but I'm facing fast battery drain when using the phone. When Im just browsing the phone, battery goes down 1% percent every 3~4 minutes... When gaming battery drops 2-3 % every 5 minutes. I need some help, I didnt charge the phone the first time for 8 hours, but i read it is not necessary. I'm rooted, 4.3 jb, doom kernel v21. I have deleted some of the bloatware and i don't have WiFi and data on all the time. Also media server sometimes goes up to 21% in battery usage.

That battery drainage seems normal to me. Playing games needs alot of battery. Battery usage depends on several things, how high is the screen brightness etc.. To your media server: are you listening to music with your phone? Or watching videos? All this is done by media server.

Some people are reporting 5 hours on screen time. If I game for one hour, i can barely get 3 hours on screen time. My usage is 30 minutes Web, music. For about one hour and a half, gaming 1 hour tops, and some browsing the phone.

Most times i close some, and.the phone is new.
1% every 3 minutes or so is not excessive drain. If you do the calculations, then that works out to 300 minutes to fully drain the battery, or 5 hours.
As the phone is new, it will take a few charge cycles for the battery to reach full capacity anyway, so see what the battery life is doing in a week or so.

As i know is not good to totally drain the battery. For example, i was talking to the phone and had wifi on right now, and my. Battery has gone down 14% in the last thirty minutes. My on screen time is at almost 2 hours, without gaming, and my. Battery level is at 43%
Edit i set screen brightness to 35%, my battery level is 41%. Sometines phone draws 1% every 2 and half minutes.
Yes, I know you shouldn't completely drain the battery. Total screen time calculations should be based on the full capacity though, or I could say I only get 1 hour screen on because I always recharge the battery at 80%! (I don't. It's an example).
Using the phone in different ways will drain the battery faster than others. The battery usage you described in your first post is not unusually high and will probably improve after a few charge cycles.

Samsung Galaxy Note8 SN-N950W Extreme battery draining Issue

Hey there, so recently I got a Note8 since my mom switched to a Galaxy Note20 Ultra and she gave me her old phone since I had a J3 before. She had it for 2 years and now when it was given to me I found some extreme battery draining issues, I watched MrWhoseTheBoss' video and in 1 hour the Note8 drained to 91% however in 1 hour MY Note8 drains to about 60%-40%. Also when I'm not using it the battery drops like I'm playing Asphalt 8. Any solution to this? I checked battery usage and nothing is out of the ordinary. The highest usage is Instagram at 2-hour drops 20% but I only use it at night and this battery problem is during the day. For most of the school, I keep it in my pocket and only use to listen to music. The battery still drops extremely fast. My friend has an S8 and his battery is much better than mine.
All I need to know is if this is a software issue, or a hardware issue as the battery sometimes runs out and I boot it up to 15% or something close to that.
If it's a software issue please help me down in the comments, I have turned off location, limited CPU speed to 70%, and disabled background usage.
Thanks.

This is normal in my opinion. Even if the battery was only a year old, I'd say that is normal without proper power management.
My note8 is the same and the owners they had it before me, i don't know how much they played games with it, but how much i know about tech my note8 have never changed that battery and never was open back cower and the battery is still good up to two days average use, but i don't use apps like twitter, Facebook, Instagram or any social apps, only Viber that's all, the twitter, Facebook, or other thing i check on web-browser and that why battery should bee good.
The apps i mention up, i consider them partly spyware, battery-mongers, personal data movement mongers.
Btw, make a screenshot of your phone screen,\battery usage after the battery has drain to about 20% so we can see if we can have any conclusion to it, and pres this code (*#21*#) and call in keypad, make screenshot to see if someone is lurking on that phone on background.
