[question] How to start a telnet session when using SlapMyMoto? - Moto X Q&A

Kind of a noob question but I can't for the life of me start a telnet session. I've read the thread and watched the video many times and there were no specific instructions on how to do it. Could someone give some insight?

If you are using Windows 7, be sure that Telnet is activated in control panel for Windows. I had this problem when slapping my moto x. Once I turned it on in Windows, it was not a problem.

Thanks, that worked but now I get a "could not open connection to host, on port 2222:connect failed"
I'm using belkin n150 router....could that be the problem?
Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

I did not try mine through a router. I had mine connected through USB to laptop.

I've have mine connected by USB as well. How did you set up the telnet that way?
Edit- Now when I attempt to connect I get this error message. "Could not open connection to host, on port 2222:connect failed. Any suggestions?

Your problem is that you installed ubuntu.
Download debian or OpenBSD.
Obviously that isn't a solution

Uses for 1 NFC tag

Hello,
I have 3 NFC tags, 1 I use near my front door to turn on and off WiFi and the other one on my bedside table to turn on alarm clock.
I have 1 more, and I can't find any uses for it.
I've been searching the internet for good ideas and I didn't find a useful one. Can you help me?

I put one on the satnav holder in my car. I attach the phone to it and it opens up car mode
i put the other just near the door and that starts the laptop up by sending a magic packet via wifi

Enable magic packet/wake on lan (WOL) on your computer
Find an app that can send these magic packets to your sleeping computer
Computer is awakened.
I think it works on ethernet LAN too...not sure on that, though.

And also, sir. I tried to squish that little bug in the corner of my screen... more than once... now I feel like an idiot. xD

My LG NFC tags won't work with AOSP. What app are you guys using.
I downloaded TagWriter and it says the tag isn't formatted, and erasing data didn't do anything.

use NFC smart Q to format the tag, then try writing to it

project : root the nexus 7 without usb cable

Hi, guys
I think that it's great to have the ability to root your N7 without USB cable and perhaps without PC (like the transformer prime) :laughf course after unlocking your boot loader (unfortunately using PC) there got to be away. I'm 99.9% sure that it's possible but nobody cares to find it .
Any thoughts? Ideas?
Thanks for your input.

Well, there's an 'exploit' that will ROOT the Nexus 7 without unlocking the BOOTLOADER... but, unfortunately, it still requires a PC and USB cable.
---------------------
I remember, several years ago, running something called z4ROOT (which uses the rageagainstthecage exploit) on my Advent Vega..
z4ROOT was an app (an apk, sideloaded) that acquired root by 'exploit'... no cables or PC required. Just run the app, and upon reboot, you're rooted.
So I suspect that what you propose is entirely possible for the Nexus 7... given an 'exploit' is already available.
The 'exploit' runs with the Nexus 7 fully powered up (as normal), cabled to a PC, and with ADB debugging on.... so maybe it's just a case of 'encapsulating' the exploit into an APK, in much the same way as z4ROOT, which ran successfully on my Vega a few years ago.
Of course, I'm just speculating here, as I simply don't have the required level of technical knowledge...
But, I agree... there's got be a way....
Rgrds,
Ged.
All I did was unlock the boot loader using pc, twrp roots the device if its not already rooted.

Yeah... straightforward and the standard way of ROOTING (roughly)...
I think what the OP is getting at, is ROOTING without the need for a PC or other cabled encumbrances... just ROOT via app (or maybe some command line in Android Terminal Emulator).

I found the app of course it didn't work however it might be a good idea to contact the Dev
I'm pretty sure that app only worked on old devices. Like froyo and down.

I'm pretty sure you're right... but my point wasn't to suggest it could be used on the N7 (in fact, I'm pretty certain it wouldn't work at all), but to highlight it as an example of how 'root by exploit' could be (indeed, has been) encapsulated within an app.
And given an exploit for the N7 already exists... how difficult can it be to turn that exploit also into an app.
Maybe it's not possible at all; maybe I'm talking out of my hat (it wouldn't be the first time)... but it's the only way I can see how the N7 can be rooted without a PC... which is the OPs desired intent.
Rgrds,
Ged.
Some exploits need to run on a PC. The device is "open" when connected to a PC through debugging. The exploits take advantage of that. That's why it is done the way it is.

almost done !
OK I found a way but there is one BIG problem .
i successfully connected the device to my PC using wireless adb but it's listed as offline because of the RSA whitelist so is there anyway to overcome the RSA checksum .

Strange issue with ford sync/blue tooth after 4.4 update

Just updated my phone to 4.4 and now when I try to pair my phone through sync it flashes the prompt to pair and that's it. I tried other phones and they pair fine just not mine now has anyone experienced this?

Could be sync itself have u pulled the fuse? I have to do that about every 6 months or so
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Tapatalk
Sync
make sure that you completely delete Sync from your phone and your phone from the car (Sync) Then when you pair, and it gives you the passcode, push "change code" or something along those lines. It will let you make a custom code, just put in 0000 and then put that in your phone. That should fix it. I sell new Lincolns for a living and I think everybody that I sell to has trouble with the system so I found this to be the easiest way to do it. Let me know if that helps.
