Hi, i am new here, so I want to ask if i can use this kernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2448613 with 4.3 xperia z1 or need to wait while doomlord updates his version to 4.3 or something like that? and can somebody explain me what kernel does, makes the phone faster or what?

Hi all,
I'm thinking of buying the Xperia V. Do you think it will be possible to install Ubuntu for Phone after the release and some development? The minimum requirements are met, but I would like to be sure.
There's a boot loader menu for the Xperia S and I would like to know if something like this will be ported to the V. Also, is there any chance the Ubuntu OS could be stripped/customized to a custom Debian rom.
Last question, will we see custom kernels based on Ubuntu for the Xperia?
Thanks in advance!

Untill someone does it then maybe, once its done then yes, however, there seems to be more dev involvement in the xperia T, so if you are into dev then the Tmay be a better option for you.

It may be possible, but it depends if anyone actually wants to do it to see if it will be done.

hello folks,
I have just installed the new 253 FW via PC Companion after relocking and restoring my TA partition via this wonderful tutorial and everything is smooth and perfect.
i'm planning to re-unlock my BL again to flash doomkernel which is very good in terms of battery life and performance (20+hrs regular uses/5hrs screen on time for me) and I was wondering if doomkernel v06 is compatible with the new 253 firmware?
thx in advance.

thought maybe someone already tried it and will reply here. just want to be on the safe side, that's all.
I don't like spending my time with trial and error and prefer to rely on others insights instead.

I'm not "enraged" so please don't take offense, but you could/should just try things instead of asking, it could have taken all of 5 minutes to find out yourself, or look in the kernel thread where it might already have been answered.
Guys.. Yes, it works as long as you have an unlocked boot loader. tested and confirmed.

I have a question, is it necessary to relock your bootloader before updating the firmware.

It most definately is not
& I can confirm that DoomKernel still works, both kernels are 4.1.2 based and there are no major changes (if any) between the 350 and 253 kernel.
We had heating issue, Lockscreen issue, Fast battery drain issue, So please also tell us is these fixed in new firmware? and should we update to this new firmware?
Thank you

this version is not rootable right now, so if you count on root to do anything, avoid this one.
but if you are pure stock person, go for it, IT IS AMAZING, damn fast, damn smooth, never felt JB like this, NOR ON MY ASUS TF300T!
go for it if rot is of no importance to you

if it you could do it over the air, you MAY keep the root using ROOTKEEPER, but this way, using PCC or SUS , it's not possible to keep root...
as i said, if you don't care about root, go for it bro, it's easy to update, and the new firmware is just amazing
hope you enjoy your TX
or if you have unlocked the bootloader just flash a custom kernel with root.
DooMKerneL is my suggestion

You didnt understand. I said I cannot update it through Wi-Fi. Its saying "your device already has the latest available system update" but in PC Companion or PC Update Service says that update is avilable. Why my TX didn't got update notification?
or this update can only be done through PC?
by the way which method u used to update? Air or PC?
Maybe because it just realease a day from now.. So maybe.no OTA for now maybe a week or month will be available via OTA.. my brother accidentally update my xTX and i was pissed because i cant root it.. But the update has noticeable changes on performance.. Battery improves too.. But wifi thetering has its issue as i read someone posting it.. But for me i dont bother by that i dont use.it.. What bothers me is i cannot have root.. without root i feel my phone is less usefull for me.. But as the previous.post if your not rooted user definitely this update is good for you..

i DID understand bro, and what i said was just an explanation, for ANY condition, i meant under ANY condition, in future, it is impossible to keep root when you update through PCC or SUS, but you MAY keep the root using rootkeeper if you update via OTA.
it's normally usual that new firmwares are first available through PCC, not OTA, it's not weird..
I myself, downloaded the FTF file from Hong Kong, then flashed it via flashtools, you don't need to unlock bootloader if you want to flash a Sony Official Firmware
don't worry about anything, this update is just fabulous even without root, it's a BIG BIG performance improvement
let me know what you do, will help you as much as i can

seems like flashing the old kernel, having root, and then flash the new kernel won't do us any good, it keeps rebooting
and if you stay on old kernel, i mean Doom Kernel v07, so you are using the old kernel not the updated one which you actually looking for
it seems that there is still no way to have root with the new kernel righ away
Thank you very much :victory:

Hey guys,
I have an xperia Z
Model number: c6603
Android version: 4.3
Build number:10.4.1.B.0.109
I let my friend install a custom rom on phone and I do not want it anymore and want my stock firmware back so i can install official updates. I have little to no knowledge on android rooting and flashing roms, i tried searching on the forums but i just couldn't find the answer so i had to make this thread.
I do not have much idea about the rom installed too apart from that its called eXistenZ rom and the OTA updater app says
ROM version 7.0.0
OTA Updater ID: xzexistenzultra
that's pretty much all the info i can think of that i can tell you. If anything else is required let me know, i'll find it and let you know. Please guys, any help will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Nope, trust me. I bricked it a lot of times and Pc companion fixed it. Just click Repair my phone, follow instructions, wait for the long download and it will do a clean install of the latest sony firmware.

Also existenz roms do a lot of stuff while maintaining the Sony aspect. Yet it can be quite unstable. I had my fair share of issues.
So restore your phone, Root it, DO NOT UNLOCK BOOTLOADER (unless you make a backup first), install Xposed framework + desired modules and you'll have most of the tweaks found in curent flagships .
I'm having the latest update 4.4.4,14.4.A.0.157 and C6903 version, so when playing even simple games like Candy Crush with WI-FI or 4G turned OFF, the phones gets warm.. also with Google Chrome browsing or Facebook.
Is there a way to solve this? I don't want to send my phone to Sony service, waiting weeks to get it back...
If root can solve, this how to root my phone? Never rooted an android phone so if possible I want some detalied informations about rooting and unrooting(I don't want to lose the warranty, sometimes I would want to unroot the phone). Saw some things with CPU settings that helps Z1 to don't get warm anymore, maybe you guys knows. Thanks!
well first if you can install a custom rom with LB
if i didn't solved your problem
i recommend you to use a custom Kernel but you need ulock your bootloder in order to flash kernel

Flash a custom kernel for the benefit of using some power saving CPU governors / IO Scheduler / battery life hacks & modifications..
