Hello guys. New guy here with an Xperia Z Ultra phone.
I'm trying to load the Paranoid Android custom ROM.
Had a couple of questions:
1. I went thru Sony's instructions to unlock the bootloader. When I ran the fastboot -i 0x0fce oem unlock (e-mail code), the first error message I got was "FAILED - Remote - Command did not succeed". So I tried the exact command again, and then I got "FAILED - Remote: The device is already rooted".
I have searched high and low, and cannot seem to find any way to verify that the bootloader is now in fact unlocked.
2. Reading the instruction on how to install CWM/TWRP recovery menus, Every single list of instructions includes the following "This tutorial is only for Sony Xperia Z Ultra with 510 and 493 LTE firmware. Do not use it for any other carriers or variants"
Again, I have searched high and low to find a way to confirm what firmware version I have. All I know is I have the C6806 model, with the build number: 14.2.A.0.290
So can someone please help out a very confused guy here? I don't want to brick my phone by accident
So far it's still working ok

I am not allowed to post on MoKee thread so I will post my question here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2761807
I am not a newbie and have been following XDA for 6 different devices and more than 5 years. But I just didn't post enough.
I am currently on SONY Xperia ZR (C5502) 4.4.2 (rooted). I have been trying to flash MoKee 4.4x for the past few weeks but in vain. I bricked my device few time already by trying and have to revital it with all kind of tools (Flashtool, Sony Update Service, fastboot).
I guess now my question is - "Does MoKee ROM requires Unlock Bootloader?" In the last post of that thread, someone said that it MUST be Unlock Bootloader. Is that true? The only reason I care so much about this is because I screwed up my device every time I unlocked it.
I was using the "fastboot.exe -i 0x0fce oem unlock 0xKEY" method.
I am currently using 10.5.A.0.230.
Your answer will be really appreciated.

Yes just like any other rom out there you will need an unlocked bootloader. The reason is because you have to flash a custom recovery such as CWM and to do that you need to unlock your bootloader. I recommend unlocking you bootloader using flashtool instead of the command. Because it is just easier. When I was trying to unlock my bootloader I experienced problems doing it the way with the cmd. And what problems does it give you after unlocking and how does it screw your device? Thanks!!
PS: Try flashing a custom recovery because maybe your bootloader is already unlocked.:good:

I have installed -=[XZDualRecovery]=- with locked bootloader, so I don't think the reason is about the flashing of the recovery, maybe is something related with kernel flashing. but I'm not sure.

Thanks for the advise from gurinderhans
Yes, I have confirmed that it REQUIRES Unlock Bootloader to install MoKee.
I unlocked my bootloader with Flashtool this time, instead of commend line this time. That fixed the problem I used to have.
But I used the CWM comes with XZDualRecovery to install MoKee 4.4.4. It works out fine.

Download Flashtool from this link install it, run it and follow the bootloader unlock process, enter the code received from sony and unlock it.
For patched kernel, recovery and other things, check the following thread

How is that supposed to work if the Bootloader is locked ?
Make sure you have USB debugging enabled
It is probably only a minor oversight that hinders it from succeeding
Also remove the screenshots( too much info)

You need to create a text file called ulcode.txt containing the unlock code you received from Sony. Then put this file in a folder with your device (phone) name (eg. My device name is CB5A2B7CSV yours should be something similar. You can get the name using fastboot command devices. I see the name of your device in the first line of the third image you posted above!). Then put this folder inside the following path (create the necessary folders):
C:\users\your defult user name\.flashTool\mydevices
Then unlock your bootloader using flash tool. It will take your unlock code from the above mentioned text file and asks for permission for unlocking and will unlock the bootloader smoothly.
Good luck
good afternoon, I have a problem with my xperia z1 c6903 when unlocking the bootloader I get a message that says your phone can not be officially unlocked that I should thank.
Apparently Sony has blocked the ability to unlock the bootloader on certain devices.
This is most likely the case if you got your phone from your carrier. Do you have a branded Z1?
You can also look up if this is the case by doing the following:
1. Open dialler and enter *#*#7378423#*#*
2. Go to Service info > Configuration > Rooting Status.
3. "Bootloader unlock allowed" should say Yes
If it doesn't, then at least the official way of unlocking your device won't work.
Any "not official" way to unlock the bootloader? Mine is locked too and i want to install something new in that old one. Thanks in advance.
Mine says not posible but i read somewere that can be done
That's the thing, is an old smartphone today, i don't understand why only certains models can be unlocked. Now im on last oficial os (5.1.1). I get it root but i cant unlock the bootloader in any way.

Some phones cannot be rooted.
Have you enabled OEM Unlocking in the developer options?
Have you checked that your phone can be unlocked?
Open the phone and dial *#*#7378423#*#* to access the service menu. Then look under Service info/Configuration
Rooting Status:
Bootloader unlock allowed: No
If the phone has been locked by the service provider before sending it to you, there's little you can do. Some providers do this to stop returns 'waaa, I unlocked my phone and now it's broke'
If both of these are ok, then it's most likely a driver issue, Windows10 is notorious for not installing drivers, but not giving you an error that it didn't. Boot into safe mode and use 'driver signing disabled' to get the drivers to work.
Also Windows assigns the wrong drivers by default, so connect the phone is fastboot mode, go the device manager, find the phone and manually update the driver.
You might need the Sony driver
Bootloader unlock is allowed
unlock is allowed downloaded driver will update after next attempt flickr.com/photos/[email protected]/48559170576/in/datetaken-public/
@ZCustomComputers, just backup your locked TA before unlocking the bootloader - see here for the guide.
Possibly you even would not need to reflash/downgrade stock fw to get temproot for drm keys backup as it seems you are running the supported version already.
That is a lot of information I am going to have to rehearse before I am comfortable enough to attempt all of this so as to not make a mistake I am having some other pressing matters at the moment not pertaining to anything related to these that are higher priority so I will have to come back to this at a later time in the very near future. Thank you all for your help and please do keep this thread active so I may come back to it I will return as soon as I can.
Again Thank You
Hi all,
I recently unlocked the bootloader of my old Sony Xperia XZ2, which I bought from my mobile carrier in Peru, following the steps in the Sony Developer World page. It worked as expected, the bootloader was unlocked. However, when I installed another ROM to have Android 10, I saw the annoying message others have reported (here and here), "Your device software can't be checked for corruption. Please lock the bootloader".
I have read that the DRM keys should be backed up before doing this process, which are related to the Sony features, I don't care about losing those at this point. Is there a way to relock the bootloader again?
I already tried fastboot oem lock and fastboot flashing lock with no avail, the message returned is FAILED (remote: unknown command).
Flashtool BLU option doesn't work either. When trying to run it, it shows the message "ERROR - Cannot invoke "String.split(String)" because the return value of "java.util.Properties.getProperty(String)" is null", which leads me to think it's trying to read a string from somewhere but it doesn't exist.
I've already flashed the original stock ROM from my carrier but all the commands I tried above return the same failure.
I've also found this tutorial that applies for the Xperia XZ1 Compact and says that unlocking the bootloader is not a reversible process. Is that true for the Xperia XZ2 as well?
Thank you very much for your help on this.
Best regards,
Jorge
