Thank you so much. This worked perfectly. I hope you continue to update this thread for us!
Edit: I guess I was a little too excited and totally missed the part where you said you would continue to update the thread!

No problem. Glad it worked...
Sorry to ask, but what does this do? Also do we just flash in recovery?

No you can not flash this zip file. There are lengthy discussions on XDA about PRLs
Being new to the PRL, the difference in this vs the standard 55xxx PRL is that the corporate version allows for 3G roaming on VZW?

Try the MOD in post 1 to get it working ##778# does not work on most roms
Think your device signature being a Butterfly S might be the crux? I'm using viper as well, but with a fixed build.prop.

For the life of me, I can't figure this out. I can't get EPST to work on my phone. I am running the stock 4.3 ROM, rooted.
I have tried:
Bigdaddy619's method:
Editing build.prop and restarting
Verified the change saved, it did
##778# = nothing
Chas123's method:
edited default.xml
flashed EPST_only.zip
##778# = nothing
Reverted default.xml back to original
flashed EPST_only.zip
##778 = nothing.
I was finally able to change it with CDMA workshop.
Now, is there any way to force roaming on the stock ROM?
thx OP!!!

I am trying to make the 1st post contain links to all the related fixes and other useful links (since sometimes the PRL/EPST fixes get hidden in a long thread and it is a PITA to search for each individual one)
If anyone finds one they think should be listed please message it to me and I will add it to the list (do not just mention it in the thread because there is a good chance I will overlook it).

I started with this:

Please be very careful with CDMA Workshop. I am not responsible for your curiosity, or stupidity!
I have included screenshots for installing the drivers on Windows 7 x64. This seems to be a little different for most users, so I hope this helps. Windows XP should be pretty similar to below. You can enter Device Manager the same way. Some of the prompts will be slightly different, but at the end most of the same dialogs will appear.
Prerequisites:
CDMA Workshop - http://www.cdma-ware.com/workshop.html
The Demo version will be able to retrieve the MSL.
HTC Diag Drivers - http://www.techwerkz.com/evo/HTCDiagDrivers.zip
I have compiled this zip which includes both x86 (32 bit), and x64 (64 bit) drivers for HTC diagnostics. I have successfully tested the x64 drivers on Windows 7, and all works without issue.
The Fun Part
Step 1 - Dial ##DIAG# (##3424#) on your phone.
Step 2 - Connect the phone to the computer via the USB cable. When prompted to install the drivers use the drivers from the ZIP provided above.
Windows will probably not be able to find the drivers:

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
You will need to manually install the drivers from Device Manager. Quickest way to get there is to press the Windows Key + R to open the Run dialog. Type in devmgmt.msc:
Once Device Manager is open you will see it cannot find the HTC Diag driver :
Right click on HTC Diag, and go to Update Driver. You will be prompted with the following, choose Browse my Computer. Then choose Let me Pick. Click Next. Click Have Disk. Browse to the drivers you downloaded, and choose the proper INF file. Click Next. Then finally Yes, if prompted :
If all went well you will see it installing the driver. Then finally let you know it was successfully installed!
Step 3 - Run CDMA Workshop you downloaded earlier.
Click to collapse
Then to update the PRL with CDMA Workshop do the following:
Select the correct port and click connect
Click read and verify your phone information is correct. Also note your current PRL version.
Select the "Other" tab and click write under "PRL"
Slect your .prl file that you downloaded and extracted.
You should get a success message
Reboot phone and verify PRL:
I only did this because I could not get EPST to work. Thanks for everyone that is helping me re-learn Android! (I switched to IOS when 2.3 was still out and just now switched back).
OK, so I got mine to update to 56017. All seems well. The problem is, when I use Roam Control to force roaming, I am connecting to Cricket Wireless on 1x? The guys on Verizon get an excellent connection here, so I know it is available. Any ideas?
Thanks for the info numus. I'm hoping that I can use this to find a PRL for my wife's note 3 so it won't drop calls or get a prl to test other providers voice services
I'm getting a message "device asks for SPC code" when I try to update the PRL via CDMA workshop.
Does this only work with rooted devices?
EDIT - If anyone else comes looking, here is a tutorial to get the SPC code without rooting.

Since yesterday I've been trying to Upgrade my Captivate to Froyo. I bought the phone in canada, but I'm currently living in Brazil.
I've tried using Kies, using several tutorials through the internet including the official one from Samsung Canada, but every time I get the error message that my device can't be updated. I even tried to manually installing the phone drivers.
I've unrooted the phone and even have done even a factory reset. the only thing that I haven't tried yet is a total master reset, because I haven't found how to do it on the i896 (the tutorial on the topic repository here is for the i897 version).
Since I'm using here on Brazil, I unlocked it by changing the nv_data.bin file. I don't know if it might be having some influence on the whole deal.
so my question his: What can I do upgrade it to froyo?
I tried to contact Samsung Canada, but there is no e-mail, and for some weird reason, every time I type their 1-800 number with the international dial code, it says that the phone does not exist.

try editing the /System/build.prop with the model number you desire and kies should recognize, if you don't have any other driver issues.

Make sure you are using Kies from http://www.samsung.com/ca/consumer/...RWC/index.idx?pagetype=prd_detail&tab=support
You need to be on Samsung Kies, version 1.5.3.10113_29 or later. PC should be running Windows XP/Vista/7.
After downloading and installing Kies on your PC, run it and connect the PC and smartphone via the data cable. Power on the device. Once the device is detected, you will see an alert telling you that a software update is available.
Click the pop-up to get the upgrade started.
Follow the instructions in this PDF:

Sorry about the late reply. Being Busy exploring the phone and Froyo
I think i'm in love....
<cough>
Anyway...
About swype: Not PT-BR, but close enough. you can have European Portuguese if you Uninstall the stock swype and add the Beta from the swype site.
you need to register on the official swype site to get the beta (you will download it through your e-mail).
you can uninstall the stock swype Using Titanium backup.
As for Voice Search: you can use morelocale2 (get it on market) and use the settings from this site: http://www.smartphonemania.net/traduza-seu-android-para-portugues-com-o-morelocale-2.html to get your locale as PT-br. All google apps should work in Portuguese now, even if most of the interface stays in english.

Not late at all, I was still waiting for it.
I have absolutely no problem with the interface being in english, what I really do need in portuguese is swype and voice search (and possibly voice commands). European portuguese will do for now, in the meanwhile I'll try to find someone who got the brazilian version of Galaxy S (I9000B) and did a backup of its system, which might include the swype apk in pt-br.
I'll follow the tips you provided me and if I happen to get the swype apk in pt-br, I'll let you know.
Thanks a lot!
EDIT: As I promised I'd post the swype pt-br apk, here it is:

There are several ways to load a new PRL onto your Hero.
Assuming you already know your 6-digit MSL number and have the .PRL file you want, you can:
1. Dial ##775# --> Update PRL (Load from SDcard)
2. Dial ##778# --> PRL --> Update PRL (Load from SDcard)
3. QPST--> Service Programming--> Choose PRL from computer hard drive
These are just a few methods, but I don't know exactly what your starting point is (ie: whether or not you know how to put files on the SDcard, etc..)

im here first off "ONLY FLASH CDMA RADIO" "I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR PHONE"
heres a good link for instructions and radios. the XDA wiki is a good start to.

http://www.market4android.com/radios-for-htc-hero.php
here are some older prl
wsww.the-answerman.com/sidlist/prl/index.ap
heres a good link of info on prl info.
http://www.roamingzone.com/prl/
"make a nandroid backup"
it took me two days of trying deferent combos of radios and prl. im on alltel moved to a verizon market.
i used my stock rom that i made a backup right after root. you should be able to do this with a 2.1 sense rom.
for the radio follow the link above for instructions.
for prl download the prl and put it on the root of sdcard.
some downloads end in .rla just change it to .prl.
dial ##775# it will ask for pass word for me and most phones i have had on sprint and alltel is six 0 it would be "000000"
this is slow so let it do its thing.
theres atab for update prl select it.
theres a another window with two drop downs and a place to input prl. the first drop down make it show sd card.
leve the second one on "prl files(*prl)"
put your prl number in the thee rd spot would be like 12345.prl
if you hit your back button to drop down your key pad it will show you your prl's on your sdcard.
select the one you want to try and hit ok.
it will take you back to the update prl tab that you started with.
hit menu and hit commit. it will load and tell you it will reboot in 10sec.
after reboot you should have new prl. go to settings /about phone/ software information at the bottom will be your prl version.
run some test to make sure evdo works and cell calls txt mms. before you boot back to your restore.
i would just try prl updates read the link for what ones work.
hope this helps

FYI, the 6 digit code where oostah said 000000 works for him, it usually wants your MSL, but 6 zeros may work too it seems. You can get that easily by grabbing "MSL reader" app in the market. I would also recommend getting the current, or known good stock PRL (sprint now is 60677 afaik) ON YOUR SD, in case the one you put in doesn't work and prevents you from being able to "update PRL" from about phone. That way you can follow these instructions and manually input the correct stock PRL - if the modified one doesn't work. Good Luck, and please report back your results.

Since many people do not know what it is, I do not provide them since people will brick their phones since they have no clue what an HBOOT is.
This does require the wire trick. I just made everything simplified.

Good job.
first of, i wanna thank hasoon2000 for all your hard work including this method to s off. bec of all your easy steps, i successfully permroot my htc raider from rogers, canada, and then s offed. however, im currently facing a major problem, and im hoping anyone in this thread could help me out. i recently relocked my bootloader without knowing that i wont be able to unlock it again with the same procedure using the htcdev unlock.bin command after being s offed. can anyone plz plz help me what to do...
is there a special command for this or method i could use; thanks much in advance guys.

so then, how come im not able to install your cwm again from the vivid all in one v2.2
i thought about that too; once ur s off, you pretty much can do anything. but i cant get the cwm back bec im getting some error from ur vivid 2.2. this happened before the whole s off; i cant use the recovery menu from bootloader if its locked, so i knew i had to unlock it to get it worked.

yes i did
well i guess if tell u the whole story, u'll know whats goin on. the reason i had to relock the bootloader was coz i was trying to install an official ics ruu (the at&t us ver) from one of the forums here. i was successful of doin it, except one thing was missing: i couldnt use my data to browse the net. i thought if i had my bootloader again locked, it would work. but still didnt.
i wasnt still able to fix that but its not really my main concern right now.
one thing i noticed tho after i installed the jb hboot after s off was successful - the lock/unlock mssg on top of my bootloader was changed w/ jb name. but after i installed the ics ruu and went to my bootloader, it was backed to unlock/lock msg; it was till s offed tho...
so basically thats the whole jits of it. before this whole mess i was able to do a nandroid backup on my sd card with everything on it, including permroot. since then i've been trying to get it backed unlock to get the cwm back and do a restore...
can I get a link to the video pllz...
Thanks in advance.

What is a CID?
CID lock (aka vendor lock): Carrier Id - put on your device by the manufacturer to prevent installation of a ROM not released by them. Commonly used in the form `CID-Unlocking`. If you purchase your phone (example) from 3Mobile (3Mobile is the ‘carrier’), your phone will only accept 3Mobile ROMs (the carrier’s ROMs). If you want to flash ROMs from other carrier, you’ll need to CID-unlock your phone, so that your phone will accept other ROMs. All bootloaders (apart from HardSPL and SSPL) will only allow a ROM with the correct CID to be flashed onto the device. A device which has been CID unlocked will have ‘SuperCID’ which allows ANY ROM to be loaded onto the device, SuperCID also unlocks the Ext_ROM and allows it to be mounted. Note: In general, the phrase ‘unlock your phone’ usually refers to SIM-unlock, not CID unlock.
What is Super CID?
SuperCID : by CID unlocking your device the value of the CID is changed to SuperCID . This allows the flashing of ANY ROM/RUU to the device regardless of the carrier and also unlocks the read/write capability of the Ext_ROM.
How to use the script?
Download the attached file
Extract the file
boot your phone into bootloader
Run the script and follow the on screen instructions
How do i get my phone into bootloader?
Power down the device
hold vol down and power at the same time
You can Download the script for Windows here http://forums.team-nocturnal.com/showthread.php/3157-Script-Super-CID-for-HTC-S-Off-Devices
I know this isnt really needed for the CDMA model but if boost or virgin ever get the One, it will come in handy for RUU's

Yes but it would be a huge mistake to do so with a Sprint One.

I would also like to ask if we have to ruu to the other carriers before we can flash their custom roms? Renovate Rom for international version is now 4.2.2 so if I supercid can I flash that Rom without any problems? It has a no compatible boot.img which won't let it boot before using supercid. I would like to use that Rom being 4.2.2 but would like to know if I supercid that would make it possible? Thanks to those with knowledge that may be able to give me the correct answer.

no no, this will only let you run RUU's for a WLS model so if lets say Boost mobile gets the HTC one, Someone can take that ruu and flash it to the sprint device or sprint to boost. not from other models like the UL, that is a different device. the CDMA HTC One is the WLS model, the GSM versions are UL models. Dont mix them.

So basically doing this super cid for the sprint model is useless because by flashing other roms like the international ones won't work because there gsm and not cdma right? So basically you will lose LTE or can you actually brick the phone by flashing gsm roms. Just trying to understand more about this. Sorry for the noob questions but don't want to brick this bad boy. Thanks for any advice in advance.
Does this script give you true CID. Does it include this? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=42363400&postcount=84

It gives you enough power to install another ruu for same model phone but under a different carrier. Now if you want to take that next step then go ahead but it's risky and pointless for the wls phones. It's not like it's going to let you install a ruu from the UL models... Your still restricted to WLS only.

What is the point for super CID, my understanding is that it allows you to use any RUU but isn't it pointless since the Sprint variant is different... it seems like everyone is doing it for the sake of doing it. We can't use any other RUU regardless to debrand, etc... I'm guessing this will be useful later on for Boost versions if and when it comes out.

That's about it, that's why I posted in the op, if virgin or boost ever get the one and someone has a flashed phone, a ruu would come in handy if they ever go that route. I only posted so you guys would have it for the future. I'm curious on what the Verizon model will be if not the same as sprint, then it will really come in handy but I doubt VZW will ever let htc go that route.

Hi guys!
So I have a problem...
It all started a couple of weeks back, when I got my new phone. I booted it up, had 4G connection, rooted it, put in ARHD and still had 4G. I then updated to a new radio found on the forum, 1.29.401.12.
When I did that, I lost my 4G... I then asked around to find a stock telenor norway radio, and "phewBAR" uploaded one to me, in the form of a .img file. ( LINK TO FILE: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B4j0jjrgwiFwY2VzdDREZ2ZhV0E/edit
I didn't know how to install it, so I asked for that aswell, and "MacHackz" made the .zip flashable file that I've linked here -> https://www.dropbox.com/s/oz8b0mdjlmxotg7/RadioStock-signed.zip
I did the flash, and still no 4G
does anybody know how the hell I get my 4G back? Very annoying without it...
I don't know that much about radio-flashing, so probably shouldn't have done it in the first place...
If anybody needs any screenshots of anything, please let me know! I also went into the menu at *#*#4636#*#* -> phone information -> and set the settings to GSM/WCDMA/LTE Auto.
In norway we use both the 1800MHz and the 2600MHz frequencies.
does anybody know how to help me ?
Thanks in advance people
Here are my screenshots (PS. I always set it to GSM/WCDMA/LTE Auto, but it goes back to only WCDMA as you can see in the screenshot)

you seem to have the most up-to-date radio out there.
I have switched a couple radios myself, can't say any is perfect, I find my phone to revert quite often to hsdpa or even 3g, on the other hand in better coverage areas such at my work place downtown it stays on solid lte..
Did you try to flash the other 2 radio versions?
in any case, provided neither radio works, I suggest you go back to stock and let your carrier or HTC to deal with this under the warranty.
good luck!
Sent from a pizza..
thanks so far - but one more question though ;
Are there only 3 different radio-types for the international version? Would you mind linking me? If I flash those three and none of them work, then I'll know it's my phone and not software
afaik, the sw versions of the radios are shared on all hw versions (well all except the one cdma radio I think) which is quite fine for us. this said, it might be less useful to try older versions (seeing you're already on latest), however you can give it a try.
there's a thread on this in the general one section, you might wanna try to use the search tool under a desktop browser, otherwise I can leave you a Dropbox link. the latter might take a while as I don't have access to my machine right now,..
so lemme know how you manage to get this to work

Yeah, well now I've tried all radios available and compatible, but nothing seems to help... is there anything I can do in build.prop? I saw that someone added/changed some lines for the Nexus4, to enable 4G. I tired adding those lines, but it didn't help; probably need something more spesific for the One?
I've also tried flashing TrickDroid GE, but that didn't help either... I feel hopeless :'(

Not sure if this works on international phones, but try dialing *#*#INFO#*#* on your phone keypad. Select Phone Information, then "set preferred network type:" see what it says.

Hi ipwngeek,
I've got the same problem as yours. my HTC one Hong Kong ver never switch back to 4g lte network , as HK LTE same as Norway, maybe my solution could help. it's work for me and it's simple.
1. back to stock rom
2. use fastboot flash in the stock recovey.img
3. factory reset in Hboot
4. reboot and see if your phone can get into 4g network now.
5. finish , you can flash your trickdroid back.
good luck
I have no idea how to do that. A guide would be nice, as I don't have access to a a computer for the next 11 days
