How do I know what RUU my device came with when I bought it?
I'm on a custom ROM and want to go back to stock when needed.
Which version is it? At&t, sprint, international....

hmm okay. Then I'd suggest picking the RUU which matches the area you got it in. I for instance use Europe.
link to ruu's: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2428276
btw, I don't know which version you're running but you cannot downgrade without S-OFF.
So if you're running 2.24, and wanna go to 1.28, I'm sorry but impossible

Are you sure mid is 0710000 not 0711000? Maybe you can go to bootloader (POWER + volume down) and check if you have a M7_U or M7_UL model.
HTC__J15 (two underscores) is GCC as far as I know, but I've only come across 0711000 mid (not that I've seen many!!)
Also haven't seen any RUUs for this region. I have a stock CWM backup for 0711000 J15, but that's about it.
EDIT: are you s-off? If not try to get s-off (provided you're still on hboot 1.44) then you'll be able to use any RUU

It's M7_UL and unfortunately I updated OTA before I found out that this updates HBOOT to 1.54.

I currently have a htc one from AT&T with cid: 11111111 and I was wondering how would I get it back to stock?

I assume you have S-Off since you were able to change your CID to SuperCID. In that case you can just run any RUU. If you want RUUs, you can find them here:
http://www.androidruu.com/?developer=M7
I believe the AT&T variant is: RUU_M7_UL_JB_50_Cingular_US_1.26.502.12_Radio_4A.14.3250.13_10.33.1150.01_release_318450_signed_2.exe
I own an HTC One bought directly from HTC no carrier brand Sim unlocked International variant. I'm in the USA. Need go back to stock for camera purple tint repair. Here's my dilemma: can't find an RUU for MID 0712000 and CID HTC__001. If anyone put there can provide me one I will appreciate it immensely!! TIA

You should have a PN0711000 cid for HTC__001 cid, Or a cid compatible with PN0712000.
Your phone is s-off?

Just finished. AT&T RUU did not work for me. Could not update OTA. SO, i changed MID and flashed International RUU and it worked like a champ. It also prompts me to update OTA.
So now, I am S-Off on FW 1.29.401.16 Hboot 144. Should I update OTA then S-on to ship for repair or should I not bother with OTA and S-On now and hopefully be able to S-off again should I get this phone back repaired (if it's not replaced)

See my post above. Thanks!
Originally a Tmobile HTC One
Currently:
S-Off
HBoot 1.54
unlocked bootloader
Stock GPE 4.4.2
I have AT&T and want sense 6, but I don't want the AT&T or Tmobile garbage that comes with it. Am I ok to change MID & CID to unlocked or dev and flash a vanilla RUU?
I tried searching for the answer, but wound up more confused. Just wanted to confirm this was ok. Thanks in advance.

Yes, you can if you want to:
MID change tool: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2535365
CID change using: fastboot oem writecid HTC__001 <- or whatever CID you choose, but exactly 8 characters
do NOT go S-On
or just use a custom ROM
but do NOT go S-On

+1 .. @nkk71 is ABSOLUTELY right about staying S-Off.
I have an ATT M7. I am on T-Mobile. The phone is now unlocked. It is still running Android 4.3.
ATT software update doesn't find any updates - presumably because I need an ATT sim in there.
So how can I upgrade this to 4.4 and later 5.0?
Thanks!

convert the phone to Developers Edition

Thanks @alray
So I did more reading and yes developer edition or change CID and MID to T-Mobile
All require S-OFF.
So I need to unlock boot loader, install TWRP, S-OFF. etc?
This is the blue Best Buy version ATT - but ATT just unlocked it.
M7_UL PVT SHIP S-ON RH
HBOOT 1.55

thats why I asked for your fastboot getvar all, unlock your bootloader and use rumrunner to s-off, do not take any updates until you get s-off as it gets harder the higher HBOOT you have.

well from there you can either follow clsA link and change to developer edition, which will require changing cid, mid and flash the RUU, dev edition gets the quickest updates, although its very touch and go at the moment as to whether the M7 is going to get anymore updates, or you can do the same with the latest T-mo RUU which is here: http://www.htc.com/us/support/htc-one-t-mobile/news/ that will also require you to change your cid and mid, after doing that follow the manual instructions on the HTC site, download link for the RUU is at the bottom.
Thanks!

Darn it. Read this too late. OK, I changed CID to T-MOB010 and MID to PN0713000.
At this point, do I just run an RUU at some point? Hope it works.

I used Sunshine to get S-OFF. Everywhere I read, it says I need to have the boot loader locked to apply the RUU. However, while contacting the sunshine authors, they told me that despite what I have read, I don't have to relock. Is this true?

no you dont need to lock as your s-off, unlocked is fine.
locked / relocked for flashing firmware or RUU's is only required for s-on users and limited to 1 step forward or current only.
So now the ruu times out on sending.......
So I extracted the rom.zip. If I flash it from twrp since it has a recovery image in it, will it overwrite twrp?
I'm assuming yes and then I would have to fast boot twrp back again.
Is this correct? Thanks
Gave up and installed Maximus HD. Works fine. Just wanted to be on 5.0 to test things.
