Is it possible to get quick panel in stock? - Galaxy S Advance I9070 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
Today I went back to stock, after some months using CM10.1, CM10.2 and Omni.
I couldn´t make GPS work fine in any of those roms, and it´s something I use.
So... i went back to stock + cocore 8.2.
GPS fixed in 2 seconds... so, that made me happy.
After that I installed xposed and gravity, with the idea to change the notification bar and specially, to get the quick panel setting I got used to from the other roms, but I couldn´t make them work. Also, I couldn´t change the battery icon.
Is there any way to modify these things?
Thanks.

Well, the latest harsh jelly has those quick toggles! Some clever work from the dev and others. Really nice, give it a try. That, and cocore, and you're in for a buttery smooth experience (even more so than CM and its derivatives). Trust me.

I tried to install Harsh v4.2 today but I got bootloop. If there's no other way, I'll try it again. Thanks

It can be a pain to install, just start over! Wipe everything (system, data, cache) with your current recovery -> fresh flash from odin with your preferred stock JB -> root -> cocore and follow the instructions there on the rom's thread.

Like it is written in first post of Harsh: Install V1, do factory reset, wipe cache and wipe dalvik cache then install V4.2.
P.S. Here you are a guide how to make your own quick panel on stock 4.1.2: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2567736

Will GPS work like in stock?
I´ve been reading the Harsh thread and I´ve seen that for many people it´s working fine, as in CM and Omni, but for others it´s weak, like for me in CM and Omni.

[Q] CWM Restores a perfect restore?

I was wondering how perfect of a restore a CWM restore is.
I was running a custom GB ROM (rocket rom to be exact) and it was running flawlessly. I then decided I might try this new CM9 ICS ROM.
So to be sure about the CM9 install, I figure I'd install from a stock GB Rom. So I first did a CWM backup of my current rocket rom and then I restored an older stock (rooted) ROM. It seemed to work fine. Then.... after reading about the (few) issues wit this new CM9 rom I decided I'd wait a bit longer until a few more of the quirks are worked out.
So I then restored back my Rocket rom backup and even doing the flash cache and davik cache also. But now I notice my once working Rocket ROM is experiencing a lot of SODs.
So now I'm wondering how perfect my restore was. I really don't have a lot of apps or wireless networks and can easily restore my contact list. For that reason, do you think it'll help if I do a factory reset wipe and then reinstall everytyhing....or even go so far as reinstall rocket rom and then reinstall everything else manually without any restores...would that be really the best clean install....or would any of this not make a difference at all and wiping/reinstall a toatl waste of time and my prob is actuaully something else....
Thanks
I could do with knowing the answer to these questions too.
It would be good to get a detailed idiots guide to CWM, do's and don't's etc.
Well a clean install will surely get you rid of the SODs. There is some app and its data that is conflicting with the system and crashes the whole phone. So if you are ready to clean install everything that will fix everything

sleep of death, its the device not waking up properly from sleep
Pus it doesnt include efs, so its not complete backup. Handy if yu stay n same rom version, but thats likely not.
Squicky clean install is always best. Even only app and data recovering thought titanium can mess things up. Make it laggy and nonfunctional etc, Blegh

1. Install abyssnote42
2. Factory wipe, cache, dalvik
3. Restore your rocketrom backup
That's what i do with my rocketrom v23 backup
Zapped through server hops to XDA forums
its not perfect but its the best so far
all i can say is that cwm is the best and simple thing for me so far and if u get trouble some times while trying to shift from CM9 to normal ics or from gb to ics all I suggest is use redpill recovery from abbysnote

Yeah, mine does that from the clock on Dragon ICS 2.4 when charging it didn't use to, started since I started Dual Booting. 2.5 is out in the next hour or so according to the Dev page. Hope it fixes an otherwise awesome ROM.. Otherwise it's back to single booting and possibly on to Omega 12 until CheckROM is released..

Starting animation is flashing

I have a issue that when I use the ICS or JB ROM,the starting animation keeps flashing. When the tablet finishes booting, lock the screen and then unlock it the flashing will stop.Anybody has the same problem?
Plus the tablet will sometimes turns on itself after I turn it off.
If someone can help me solve those problem,I really appreciate it.
Thanks!
I have same problem with mine...somebody told me it's somehow related to undervolted screen or something. I'm no expert, but you can find my thread if you search for screen artifacts on my tab, I think.

These issues are already being discussed on the threads. You are dealing with ALPHA (JB) and mostly BETA (ICS) ROMs so bugs are to be expected. The only game we can play is the waiting game until devs get official source for some drivers and keep fixing stuff. If you want something stable, you can always go back to stock Honeycomb 3.2 firmwares.

I had the same problem when I first installed JB. The instructions I read did not say that you need to wipe the data, cache, and davlik cache (under Advanced in CWM Restore). I wiped those and it booted just fine.
This was my first root / custom ROM install, that was the only real bump in the road for me.

Every ROM requires a full wipe if you want a trouble-free experience apart from the ROM bugs, especially with an alpha. An alpha ROM is not suited for newcomers so, you should've started with something basic, something stable as Overcome for example, in order to learn the basics of flashing and everything. You were lucky you didn't break anything.

Auto reboot into cwm

Hi...I've been using Slim rom's since early ICS and now running stock 2.7 Slim Bean which is a really nice rom as Slim has always been :highfive: and have never actually had the need to post anything as my questions mostly get answered by the good old search, but since going onto 2.7 I've started with automatic reboots into CWM. Any idea's why or how I could fix this!
did you tried full wipe....I too faced such issue and got resolve after full wipe
You Use OC? Deep Idle? If yes, verify if reboots depends on this

maybe something happened to your rom. just download it again, sometimes they download not correct. Wipe everything. flash again. should work then
Thanks to all
Thanks for the responses, I did do a full wipe ...actually landed having to start from GB and flash cm10, slim 2.6 (x3 just in case..l.o.l) then 2.7... After second auto reboot did simple wipe and flashed 2.7 etc again was fine for 3 days then auto reboot again. Think will do a full wipe and then flash slim 2.8 seeing it's out ...
As for deep idle etc haven't changed any setting all stock slim!

question about kernel

Sorry for asking this , but just yesterday i made it to install my 1st custom rom.
Now im on vanir rom and at my settings sais that my kernel is: 3.1.10-cm+ . i dont seem to have any problem. everything is fine. battery is fine too. So my question is , can i install whatever kernel i want ? and if i have any issues i can just install another one ? No need for for wipings all cache and data right ?
thing is , i dont seem to understand what kernel to choose. for example i see kernel for stock rom, kernel for cm and kernel for miui. vanir rom sais in settings its jellybean 4.3. so that means i choose stock kernel ?
Search before posting! All these things you ask for are basic knowledge,
which you should have if you flash a custom rom/kernel or you probably
end up posting a "please help me"-thread here.
So take your time and search/read everything about android.
Don't expect anyone to give you a step by step tutorial on
every single thing you could do, as XDA is a development forum.

you don't need to understand this part, just ignore it
about the vanir kernel, it's the "safest" way to use the stock kernel. I've made a vanir version of my kernel, but it has some GPU issues which i am trying to resolve ATM.
Some people reported CM10.2 kernel would also boot/work, but i am not sure about this one.
So make a nandroid backup, flash another kernel, wipe /cache and dalvik cache, reboot and see if it boots
if it does, congrats, if it doesn't, just restore your boot image via recovery

well.... the only vanir rom i found around was one of werewolf but the phone didnt get passed the boot logo.
The only rom that worked ( tested every single rom out of curiosity since im new to android ) , was the iodak cm 10.2. wierd ? maybe... others here were surprised a little. maybe ! i dont know. anyway now im on that kernel and i dont like it too and i dont know how to extract the kernel out of the vanir rom to put it back like it was. the iodak hasnt got the feature to customize the hardware buttons. those buttons now never go off unless i stop touching the phone.
and by the way +thanks from this post for the vanir rom. is my favorite )) i was 5 years on ios , android is new to me. hope i find a way to get the vanir stock kernel without i need to do a whole downgrade to the full rom and then update back. ( it would be faster though since im a noob but i like to kill my time "destroying" my phone and then have to restore it )

Flashed RipperROM com.android.phone now crashing

I've got a GT-I9350, and I've been on RipperROM for a while, and I just flashed v20 onto my phone.
Now I can't receive any phone calls at all, the ringtone goes, but the screen goes black, then com.android.phone crashes.
Tried wiping my data, clearing google framework, all that, still doesn't work. I'm in desperate need of help this is killing me.
Try reflashing the rom or install your back up
Tried both, tried downloading a fresh version of RipperROM, wiped all my data, cache, dalvik, several times, fixed my permissions, and it's still crashing.

Don't know why I'm getting this and you're not, but I think it's a repeat of a known problem in the i9300 posted here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=33003918&postcount=2683
It doesn't happen if I haven't flashed JB Domination Theme btw.
In general I'm getting FC in almost every rom I flash. Really don't know why it's gone this bad. I switched from PA to RipperROM because my phone app started suddenly acting up.
Now since this post I've tried a few roms.
Flash PA -> get a crash trying to log on to google account (google framework FC)
Flash Sentinel -> ASOP Keyboard FC, can't write anything, back button doesn't work
Flash RipperROM -> I have a functional phone as long as I don't flash any themes, don't trust this to last at all
Should I go back to stock in odin and then root again?

There is a stock pre-rooted rom for odin.
Maybe try Slim Bean rom?
